I was wondering if there was any way to enable autocorrect? Now that we have a restore option and some apk hacks has anyone found autocorrect? I personally like the stock samsung keyboard just sucks that it doesnt autocorrect.

Just to let you guys know, Samsung disabled Autocorrect in the US due to the Apple Patent lawsuit they lost. I found a thread that uses stock Android 4.2.2 keyboard and it works great....I do prefer the Samsung KB...but oh well. Screw Apple..I hate them more and more everyday, and the retards in the Patent offices that even allowed them to Patent such a feature....wonder who Apple paid off for that one.

Have you tested it? I'm currently running Android Stock 4.2.2 KB because it was an APK file that you just install. I don't have custom recovery because I don't want to up my flash counter. Interesting though...I prefer to try the Canadian apk/odex file first.

The stick was patented in 2002. No kidding.
http://www.google.com/patents/US6360693
My faith in patent law has since seen a depreciable slide. I plan to patent a 'dual-inclusive limited-width inter-parallel solid-filled planar sphere' and call it the Weel. Or patent the Orange, or the idea of a fruit in general, then sue apple for infringement.

I havent tried it yet, but I have this feeling that it wont work because we are on 4.2.2 and the Note 2 is on 4.1.x
Then I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39749880
Which is ripped from the international version of the S4. I will try this I think. Although I am pretty worried to try it because I don't have a recovery or anything thanks to locked AT&T bootloader.
NVM - it was ported to the S3.

Ok, so your files are about 10MB bigger than mine so I know we are on the right track. But after pushing them the Samsung keyboard is no longer in my settings. I pushed to /system/app and set permissions and did a reboot. I think there is one more file that I need to replace.
Can you also pull one more file? After downloading keyboards from Note2 and GS3 they also require /system/app/ResourceManager.apk

Unless it is indefinite I would keep my storage down to the "free" level. The problem is once they hook you into all that storage and it becomes necessary and the only option they then can start billing. Likely something people would not have done themselves.
As for me. I'd prefer a 32MB phone with a 64MB card.....I am my own DropBox.
I do have the free account to upload files I want to later use on my phone or in my business to transfer shared files when necessary . But I don't use it for Mass Storage.

Nice to see someone from the wonderful island nation of Barbados here!! I live in St. James near Holetown a month or two out of the year on average. Haven't been down in a while though (getting homesick something awful!) .
What provider are you using, and how are the data speeds? I usually go with a pay-as-you-go SIM from Digicell (good for island hopping), but might go C&W if there are better speeds/data buckets/tariffs.

I dumped Verizon. Best move I ever made lte was spotty on long island and sucked battery. T-Mobile has been awesome with the 3g+ consistent speeds oh and I'm spending about $80 less a month. Their customer service has been awesome as well.
It is so repulsive that Google is getting on the advertising train even with their naming convention. I cant believe they are calling the new OS "KITKAT" instead of "KeyLimePie". Should be "KickbackKingdom" or "KeepKneepads".

It's indeed getting more commercial which CAN mean that they('Google') only see $$ bills and don't give much attention about their OS.

Why is everybody bent out of shape? No money was exchanged in this deal at all, it was corporate synergy at its best. The reason Google went with KitKat was because KitKat bars are the Google teams favorite chocolate bar and they wanted to acknowledge that. They asked KitKat for their permission and 24hours later they agreed and decided to take it a step further and launch a campaign around the idea.
Google gets more recognition for android with the non techie people because more of them will actually know about the new android updates and their naming scheme. You can just imagine regular people wanting to know what the next android "flavor" will be, and they might actually start demanding updates and force the hands of the carriers and manufacturers because more people will actually care about them. Hell, Google might even make this a yearly thing and if it goes well we might have companies clamoring to be "The next big update" kind of like how people wait to see who the next Bond is going to be, but on a smaller scale.
KitKat will get marketing practically free, and have an association with the most popular mobile OS in the world. They now have permission to use Andy the android in their commercials, and if you go to the KitKat website you can see what I'm talking about. They just created an entire marketing campaign around android without paying Google a single cent
Perfect corporate synergy, this is a CEO's wet dream.

I absolutely love it. Everyone knew the android OS was being named after delicious treats.
After all, it threw a curve ball to anyone and everyone on the KeyLimePie bandwagon. I mean key lime pie does start with a K. but the word Key itself isnt essentially a "Treat" instead the word "pie" is the treat. Key lime is just the flavor. You know? Just a random rant.
What's the fuss?
I got news for you guys, Google has been a for-profit organization since they got started and makes BILLIONS of dollars in profit yearly. To act like they were your favorite "indie" music band that just sold out with this move is a little disingenuous (IMHO).
Android is a mess right now as everyone is trying to abuse the open nature to install bloatware and make warped systems. Google need to take control back.

Sigh. I thought we were passed this. I'm having a hard time caring though this time around. Not sure why.
If I were to guess, LG doesn't have the market share muscle to say no and AT&T insisted on installing it.

ATT comes standard 32gb, probably on T-Mobile too. No SD support on USA phone models from what i've read. Maybe T-Mobile offers a 16gb and 32gb model for some reason? Thought it ONLY came in 32gb?
Just remove these two files: found in /system/lib libiq_client.so and libiq_service.so
You need to be rooted one you remove these you can confirm whether the service is dining by downloading an iq checker in the play store. Remember it's the carriers not lg that included this.
Upon further testing phone FCS during a call if u remove these files...so will have to figure out whatelse needs to be done.

On T-Mobile, at least for the One and S4, it asks whether you want to opt-in for Carrier IQ. I really don't see this as a huge deal but I mean I'm not against removing it either though.

Not all of them installed for me.
Your post makes no sense at all.
I installed the camera and gallery.
What did not work?

The ones that do not install were meant for lollipop and don't install on 4.4.
That said, no, this is not an indicator for us. Many of these(all?) are meant for those already on lollipop.

I know for a fact when lollipop will get released. Was told directly from a verizon rep and motorola rep.
They stated we will get it when its released for our device ..... Hope that clears the confusion for everyone.

No really... I did read it. You stated that you know for a fact we would get it. Why would we not get it? I can see a galaxy s3 not getting it as of is no longer sold in the stores. So, that being said, why would a new phone, less than 6 months old, not get an update.

What is implied here is that not all will update because some are meant for lollipop. Also yes some may update because it may be able to run on both versions.

Looks the same to me. I haven't updated anything and even that looks the same as to what I have now.

(Quoted for the reference of the reader.)
Guys...what it appears he is saying is that he was told that we will get it when we get it.
As for the apps in the OP, if a little time is taken to read through the information about any specific app generously supplied by Android Police/APK Mirror, it is stated what the Minimum Android Version is needed to run that particular app. :highfive::good:
Why is this so hard....

Thank you!!
Well I tried the camera apk yesterday hoping that it would reduce the lag but it didn't. I don't even notice what the update did yet. Oh well. Worth a try.

Lag? Its not lag. This has been mentioned before its called delay focus. This is a phone with a camera. If you want a good camera buy one that isn't a phone.

Wasn't complaining . just hoping the update added some benefit.. I love the camera and this phone but after it focuses it lags for a second. Don't care what you want to call it and I have read every post on this forum about the camera. I have also used other cameras on high end phones and it doesn't do what the turbo does. Damn dude. Get off your high horse.
