hello everybody ..
i been following XDA-Developers for many many times . actually i learn everything for root and flash etc from XDA .. i'm using Overcome Kernel and rom .
My Advice To You before you even go for flash a kernel you must do 1 simple step to avoid bricking your tab cuz trust me i already bricked it many times
but after reading and learning i knew how to do all the steps for flashing a kernel or a rom and after all , trust me it is easy you only have to follow the developer steps
anyways
before you flash a new kernel you must go here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 )
you have to download the bootloader before flashing anything , read the topic and am sure you'll find your way to flash by this topic. any questions don't feel shy to ask i can guide you by my Experience
hope the topic was helpful for the new users
Yeah, just download bootloader checker to check if you bootloader is signed / locked before you update to another custom rom. Anyway, if it is locked, it does not permanent brick your tab. Just restore using odin pit file if anything happen while updating. However the danger to patch your bootloader MAY permanently bricked your tab. Brick means your tab no longer be able to patch but a need to change the motherboard is the only way to restore your tab.

Goto the development forum and read the "Stock Firmware Odin" thread.
Then, go to each of the AT&T S4 subforums and read the pinned (stickied) threads in each of them. Pay close attention to the information about T-Mobile ROMS. There should be links in there about threads that will help you understand flashing T-Mobile ROMs onto the I337.
Make sure to use the forum's "search" function for any specific topics you want to know about, but can't find through reading alone.
Good luck.
And give Kenny a break and post in the correct forum. Should be in q&a.

I have a question on bootloaders. I have a Samsung galaxy s4 and wanted to root and put a custom ROM on it. But I heard you have to unlock the bootloader first. The question is I can't find the thread and second is can it be relocked if I have to send it in for warranty. Thanks for any help.

so im not sure if people will tolerate this thread, if its against the rules feel free to report it/ban me /whatever.
i basically have a galaxy s4, sgh-i337, it has safestrap installed and im looking to install a custom rom.
anyway before i go through with it i have a few questions, i read a lot of the safestrap thread, and the mf3 threads, its just overwhelming, a lot of info in that thread and its very unclear/hard to locate anything im actually looking for, im hoping i can get a kind person thats willing to take 10 minutes of their time to answer a few question.
if you're gonna post to link me to a Q&A on safestrap and stuff like that please dont. ive read it. anyway, if you can/want to help just send me a pm on the board here. i could use a bit of advice.
if the thread isnt allowed feel free to ban me or whatever i guess.
1) Questions should be in the Q/A section.
2) I'd help but there's no questions in your post. You can PM or ask here.

I have tried towelroot ......says device not supported.
Tried kingo.....doesnt work either...
I don't really know what else to try.
I downloaded odin....but don't know how to use it.
Sir,

Check that thread, there are clear instructions to help you out. You will have to flash a different kernel before towelroot will work, but its pretty easy, just follow the instructions exactly.
