I've already tried out 3 brand new Nexus 4's, and they all exhibit light bleed around the top right corner.
I know, I know; I'm being obsessive or nit-picky. But, just humor me for a second, and chime in on the topic....
Anybody got a Nexus 4 without any lightbleed whatsoever? You should be comfortable around 30-50% brightness and have no uneven backlighting around the top border....
Does a perfect Nexus 4 even exist?
Thanks fellas
No bleeding here

No bleeding here mines the first batch HW Revision 10 :good:
No such issue here.

No idea what you're talking about. But maybe I'm not OCD enough.

I swear my Nexus 4 is the best phone I've had! Better than the SG3 and the One X I've owned! BTW no light bleed on mine.

Minor light bleed at the top & bottom.. although it is very minor. I really have to try to see it. I would say for a normal person, they would think it has "no light bleed". But to us perfectionists yes it's there.
I know this is asking a lot, but would someone with a perfect device mind posting a pic with your brightness turned up with your notifications dropped down?
No bleeding here either and I'm on Rev 11
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Lots of light bleed here in the top right corner. Nov 2012 version, rev10
Don't really care though.
No bleed and I bought mine at an insanely bright tmobile at sunset.

Maybe for some of the people who say they have a perfect device, just dont notice it or their brightness is too low..
someone, please, put my OCD worries to rest and snap a shot of your phone with no lightbleed with the notification dropped down with at least 50% brightness.
I will be in your debt.
Is this what your looking for? Sorry I'm half ass sleeping right now.

Thanks for the effort.... but taking a screenshot takes a shot of the software... backlight bleed is hardware..

I have had my Nexus 7 for around 3 weeks, it was perfect, I was so happy with it and I had no problems with the screen lift/bleed like many other people. I knew it was risky to buy the first batch after all of the problems reported on these forums, but now my Nexus 7 has the blue and red stuck pixels that are only visible on a black background with the brightness turned up, I can also see them when I boot the tablet. I have added pictures below, although it makes it look like the screen is bleeding, it is not, it is just the way the photo was taken. I bought it from Tesco Direct so I have a week left to return it, should I or is it risky because I could get a device with even more faults?
Thanks
From those photos it looks like there is no problem at all. Where are we supposed to be looking? Are they in the middle of the screen?
The judgement call is yours. Can you live with the fault? If you can't take it back. The chances of repeatedly getting a dud are slim.

Yes. It is the purple streak, sorry for being unclear, this is my first post on this forum, I guess I should have circled it in red.
You could try one of the many dead pixel apps from google play

I usually keep my phones on full brightness. I'll deal with the battery draining because I love how it looks with full brightness. Has anyone noticed the display on the n4 kind of adjusting sometimes. I have noticed sometimes it changes to a little darker or a little brighter while using the phone.
I also noticed when I am talking on the phone with the speaker on sometimes it shuts when opening an application or sometimes even without opening an app and switches to regular ear piece. Sometimes it will stay on speaker but go lower.
Anyone having these issues? Its not a deal breaker or anything I still love it. I know phones will always have their issues, I've had ever nexus and the g1. I just want to know if other people are having this issue.

My guess is glitch hardware. Lg is known for making inconsistent quality. Terrible QA. Just because its made in Korea doesn't means its better than in China.

I don't know how you can use this display on full brightness it's too damn bright! Strains my eyes. lol I tend to keep mine around the 25% mark
It's adaptive contrast, runs independent of your brightness settings and there's not an option to disable it. You probably notice it most when moving from a largely black screen to a white one.
I think I remember first hearing about it's use in a Galaxy S2 review, my TV does the same thing on its dynamic setting.

I didn't know this. Can you show me somewhere, where this is stated about the phone? It makes sense.

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday, and just today I've noticed that when in dark screen (locked, or simply the settings page) and outside of the house I see kind of weird black lines on the whole display screen, going form top to bottom making some 3 small square shapes after the others all over the display, can be obviously seen when display facing bright sky outside in almost any angel, but in room light barely can see them with certain angels.
will make a photo of it asap.
p.s. I've never seen a notification light yet on the middle bottom of my device.
Anyone same "problem" with display?
Its the digitizer.

Could you link an example image from goolge or something to make sure it is what I mean? can't seem to find something alike..is this normal?
I can confirm that its the digitizer I too have found that with this phone it is very easy to see even with weak light I see it when I get the right angle. It looks like you described but the vertical lines look more like dots arranged neatly than lines on mine.

Just noticed the same thing on my device. Thought I was tripping out maaaaaaan
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Its the digitizer, its normal. I think its because of the "zero gap" technology thing ; the display and the digitizer are right below the glass.
As for the notification light, download Lightflow from the Play Store. Works great.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
For the notification LED, make sure you enable the " Pulse notification light" option in Settings->Display. Using Lightflow on top will give you lots of customisation options though.

I am now noticing the same issue in my nexus 4. If it is because of zero gap technology then why it is not there in iPhone 5 and other phones which use this technology?
I also notice that my brother who got the phone some time in November 2012 is not having this issue. I got the phone in Jan 2013...is it issue with only the new lots?
What google and LG are doing to address this issue?

Its the digitizer. I mean seriously why are y'all complaining about that, its normal.

Sorry, on a black background you can see the glow of the light bulb as to form a stain?
I would not be just my problemi

It looks the same as every IPS monitor ever.
Great color, great brightness, but mediocre blacks when viewed from the side
If you mean light bleeding or bad panel uniformity, yes most (if not all) have that.
R: Question on display, please
And so the infiltration of light from the top of display is normal?

Yes it's normal on IPS screens. The degree that it "infiltrates" varies between devices. my First Nexus 4 had backlight bleeding that was more obvious then the replacement device I have now. The replacement's back light bleeding is barely noticeable.
I've owned various devices with IPS screens
Asus Transformer TF101 (I've handled about 5 different devices)
Asus Transformer Prime (handled about 3 devices)
Asus Transformer Infinity(handled just the one I owned)
LG G2X (Had multiple replacments)
Nexus 4
Nexus 7(handled 3: 2 32gb HSPA+ and 1 16gb Wifi)
All had some light bleeding to a certain extent or another. Some being much worse than others.
I have a RMA for a 3rd Nexus 4 (The one I have now I love, hardly any backlight bleeding and everything is great except there is this one dark vertical line from top to bottom of the screen that you can see on white/gray backgrounds. My original Nexus 4 didn't have any of that)
If my 3rd has worse backlight bleeding than the one I currently have I might just deal with the dark line on the screen on white/gray backgrounds on my current device as that's the ONLY thing that bugs me about it.

One thing that annoying me on my nexus 4. You can see on the left of my screen, straight dark line from top to bottom. I haven't drop my nexus before. It appeared on dark colours especially grey colours. For your info its start to appeared when 10 minutes screen on after about 20 minutes screen off. Is it normal? Anyone here have the same problem?

Holy damn. I was just about to make a thread. But mine can't be screenshot. Its seen just like you said and I can flick the different home screens and it stays in the left I've flashed back to stock and still there. Been a week. It got less noticeable when used less. I'm wondering if its because I'm near a big subwoofer in my living room. I know TV used to do this like a bleed line. Have you heard any data yet??? I will send mine back. Please let me know...
