Every once in a while, the touch screen area at the bottom of the screen by the menu bottom is non reactive. for example when i touch n on the vk, it looks as if im touching h. Is anyone else going through this as well?
just recently my touch screen has problem. when i try to switch screen using touch screen, the screen get stuck half way and shaking. and every time the problem occur, i can't make a selection using touch screen. if i select an icon on the top row, an icon on the bottom row is selected instead.
I've had a few issues lie the two above. I'm not quite sure if it's a hardware of software issue, but resetting the device always seems to work just fine. It's not the best solution, but its better than nothing.
have you tried the VK caliberation tool?
Sometimes the touch screen is WAY off and only restart is fixing it. Noticed this 2 times already.....
I've noticed this too. I was using the browser, and my screen presses were registering as all sorts of random things (like pressing the middle of the screen would press the zoom button). Restarting the browser seemed to fix it.
Add it to the nexus one issue list.

that's from a lack of multitouch. your hand is probably just barely touching the lower corner of the glass. when you press again in the middle, it registers on the softkeys. it is one of the things I *HATE* about this phone. I always seem to be touching the screen on the very edge. you almost cant use it with just one hand.
I find that I do that with my HTC Magic sometimes as well, the 'webbing' between my thumb and index finger sometimes touches the corner of the screen and brings up the 'app menu' in my left hand, or the 'add widget' menu in my right hand (sense ui). Just another general thing about touch screens and their placement
the four touch buttons arent that accurate. didnt have this problem on the droid. i rarely miss it there but on the nexus is becoming 50/50 chance of it not registering.
Lol how are you guys holding the phone, i always use it one handed and havent expirienced this, i guess everyones different.

This not necessarily a problem with this phone in particular. It is a phenonema that happens on all capacitive touch screens (that do not have multitouch). I work with them all the time (much larger scale) and the slightest touch on a border results in what appear to be calibration issues.
Multi touch takes into account for this, non multitouch does not.
This has happened to me also. Same exact thing, in the browser, the touch was way off, really way off. I was pressing the middle and the zoom button pressed. It was on the table so I know my other hand didn't touch it. It was also vibrating sometimes when I pressed the middle of it. Restarting seems to have fixed it for now.
happened to me in SMS and browser and the only fix was restart the phone.....so its not me accidentally touching the screen in another point.
ps. its so bad that i couldnt even use touch screen to power off the phone. i had to use track ball. (now i know why its there )
I've had this problem as well as other with touch screen. Sometimes I will hit an icon on the main screen and it will jump screens. When I'm in the menu's i hit one of the options and it goes to the one underneath it. I'm CLEARLY hitting the option I want and not the one below so it is infact a hardware problem in my case. I will be in the browser and hit a button and it will exit out of the browser, very annoying! Mine is unlocked but I wrote HTC so lets see what they say.
its a known prob with this phone, ppl are complaining all over Google forum, its very annoying, when it happens it doesn't just happen in the browser, also in text message n home screen ect...

Webbed fingers are gross.
I have now experienced this definitively once. It happened while using the dolphin browser. I wiped the screen off, set it on a table, poked with only one finger, and could not for the life of me get the software keyboard to click on the correct button. Just wouldn't happen. Had to restart the phone to fix it. But it's only happened once since I got the thing on launch day.
^ same thing for me. Does the OTA fix this, I have not received it yet. Wish I saw this before I created a thread, sorry.

i dunno, but touches (especially multitouch) seems ALOT more responsive and accurate than before i did the new update... i used dolphin prior and pinch zooming seemed jittery and like the phone didnt want me to do it... now everything seems smooth as butter!
obviously this is only short term though, but hopefully this fix will also address some of the calibration issues (that i also experienced) that the N1 has been known to have...
Hello,
Few weeks ago I bought Nexus 7 3G. So far I'm quite happy with it but I have some strange issues with my touch screen. I've read few topics on XDA, but none describes exactly the problem. When I work on battery my touchscreen response is awful. Sometimes I have to press few time until it reacts. Sometimes it "clicks" on totally different spot of the screen. It's almost impossible to uninstall apps by moving them out of the drawer to the recycle bin on top of the screen. When I press and hold selected icon the digitizer interprets this as a normal single touch and launches the app. I cannot draw any complicated shapes with my finger - it stops reacting after few milimeters of movement.
But all those issues are not present when I connect the tablet to power and use it while charging.
Do You think I should RMA it or perhaps I should try something else? I'm currently on JB 4.3, but on JB 4.2.2 it behaved the same way.
Regards
If you are going to return the tablet then the best way to demonstrate the fault is to go into Settings then Developer options and test the screen with the options under Input. If you haven't Developer Options showing under settings then select About Tablet and press "Build number" several (7 I think) times quickly.
Hello,
My Nexus 4 yesterday and today is freezing, when the phone is a little bit hot.
When I open Whats'App, I can't get the keyboard, below it's freezing.
Sometimes it's respondse when I lock and Unlock the phone.
What is this?
I did a clean reset, stock rom, another rom, from the beginnen again, root, TWRP update, but still it's frees when it's a little bit hot.
I have now Euporia ROM.
Also It freez sometimes in TWRP, If i do 3 seconds nothing, than It's frees..
Edit: My Whats'App keyboard, only response when I switch my phone to Horizontal and the screen turns, Then I can open Whats'App. On normale mode (vertical) it's doens't open the keyboard, onle the recorder work's.
It's seems, the screen is not responding in the middle above the navbar..
What Can I do?
Settings/menu works overall.
Could you please test the display by enabling developer options and then enabling "show touches", then run your finger vertically and horizontally across the entire screen to see if it is a hardware issue.
I have a Moto G4 that has had the touch screen become very erratic lately. This issue appeared shortly after a factory reset. The phone is stock, recently OTA updated to NPJ25.93-14.7. It frequently freezes and won't respond to touches of apps or the home/back/recent buttons, and won't side scroll to the next screens properly. Sometimes random apps launch on their own without any touch, and if you try to quit them with the back button they keep relaunching. The problem is intermittent.
I activated "Show Taps" in Developer Options and when the problem is happening there is a tap dot near the lower right side of the screen. It bounces up and down a little bit and vibrates sometimes. When this dot is visible tapping on anything else like app icons or buttons usually has no effect, however the taps are shown on the screen. If I hit the power button to make the screen go black it will sometimes recover when I reopen the display, other times it takes a reboot.
Wondering if it's a hardware issue, a guy at a Verizon store who seemed to know more than most said it was a faulty digitzer--it's seeing touches where there are none. I've replaced displays successfully before, would just like to have a confidence level that the digitzer is really bad before doing that, as opposed to a software or other hardware issue. Any ideas about problems that might cause this problem, like other hardware or a corrupted OTA? Seems very hardware-ish to me, but I'm no expert.
I have Drive links to a couple of short videos on the symptoms, can send links. Much appreciate any insights.
Mine has that issue as well. It will spam the 9 key on the unlock screen or anything in that spot if an app is open or what is on that spot at the home screen. I have to double unlock the phone to fix it. I guess turning the screen on and back off resets it for that session. But it's mostly every time the screen goes dark and comes back up I have to turn the screen off and back on to use the phone.
I had a similar problem and was able to send it in under warranty and get a replacement phone
G4 Digitizer or ghost touch
Apparently this is called Ghost Touch issue, and affects many phones. One solution tried is to disable Battery Optimization for System UI and Google Now Launcher in Settings>Battery>Battery Optimization. That seemed to cure it for a week or so, but the problem returned today. I can sometimes recover form it by hitting the power button to blank the screen and then reopen. Other times it requires a reboot. I see all kinds of alleged solutions out there from dimming the brightness to removing tempered glass protector to using a slow charger, but those don't seem like real fixes but workarounds (if they even work at all). Any other ideas?
