Hi, I have seen news about Oppo releasing the Kernel Source and supporting the AOSP community (the same Sony and HTC right now).
My question is, when Android 5.0 and a CM11 is released, does this source or information already released today about the device works for future releases of AOSP based ROMs without the support of the company?
Trying to be clear, Oppo (Sony and HTC too...) release some source today, but the next year they don't support this model, can the AOSP ROMs implement a new stable version using that last year released source from a prior Android version?
Thanks

No one knows. We would hope so, but no one would really know. Maybe.
Sent from my Oppo Find 5
kernel-wise - the cyanogenmod team has been able to merge it with the Qualcom sources, so if Qualcom keeps it up to date (most likely yes), then that's no problem (also, nexus 4 shares a lot of the same underlying hardware: CPU/SoC, GPU... that device will get updates, which could be ported over)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40671515&postcount=5
proprietary library-wise - maybe? sometimes, they're compatible cross-android version, sometimes not, and you have to do workarounds to make it work on the new version.... could also steal libraries from other devices (see nexus 4 again)

Since the device specs meet almost the same to Nexus 5, is it possible to build hammerhead AOSP builds (as is, or official AOSP) for our Note 3?
I was thinking since the M developer preview 3 is out, if anyone could port it for our device.

It would be still difficult, I think we should wait for Google to release M source code and then the developers work from there
will cyanogen port this dev version of Android N.. so that our devs can port it to redmi2?
There's no sense in spend time to port a leaked beta version of Android.

thats not leaked beta....google official released beta version.
only for nexus devices with closed source,as far i porting goes, you need a nexus device with same chip set."N" builds will only be up after official release and publishing of codes in third quarter of 2016
Android Nougat is officially released (See the Android website) :victory:
Since Honor didn't release (yet) the kernel source, let's hope when its released (SOOOOOOON PLZ) :fingers-crossed: it gets the proper treatment, a PURE stock-Android based on Nougat. Devs, if you hear me, we don't want marshmallow based ROM's

Haha I am sure that will be something to look at depending on the release source and everything that comes with it to build a good PURE stock android based nougat

Hi Guys,
what do you think. Is Huawei finally going to release a WORKING Open Source code for this amazing phone? Since February i´m waiting for my loved LinageOS...
Proprietary stuff

While they released the code to the ROM I don't think that they are going to release the proprietary blobs for their hardware as open source, even on Qualcomm SoC devices these had to be pulled from running devices, so unless a developer wants to take up the task and put themselves at risk legally there will probably not be a lineage for the mate 9 unless you port it yourself. I downloaded the source from Huawei, and from the looks of it there are things that really on closed source binaries. Now if Huawei makes their hardware libraries open source as well then it's a different matter entirely.
Hi Devs,
It's a humble request to all Experienced (Recognized) Developers/Young Developers/Members of XDA to PORT MIUI 9 ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo for Mi5 by Xiaomi.eu to our beloved Z2 Plus device...
I know MIUI 9 by YouLinw exists for our device, but that PORT is purely based on Chinese build of MIUI 9 for Mi 5 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is very limited to global users. No international user understands Chinese very well and they prefer the language in their preferred locale and Xiaomi.eu project enables the same and provides multi-language Official ROMs (PORT) by Xiaomi. Plus it is backed up by built-in Google Apps, so there's no need to perform any Gapps installations after flashing the ROM itself and is TWRP friendly ROM...
User/Dev Narshi Shukla has done exceptionally well in maintaining the MIUI 9 thread and providing help/support for that particular ROM PORT by YouLinw and changing/modifying many aspects of the PORTED ROM itself to make the ROM more usable to Global end users but still it lacks these three points, First is Android Oreo build and Second Gapps and Thirdly the addition of International languages/locale.
Considering the above benefits of having Globalized version of MIUI 9 for our Z2 Plus, that too on 8.0 Oreo build and with GApps included is something that many users are looking for...
I was trying to PORT this ROM my self but I'm facing technical problems with my PC hardware, as such my motherboard has got damaged and was sent for repairs to Service Centre and is with them since last few weeks and till now, no report on repairs done by them/working condition/service completion of hardware by the concerned SC... So I would request other Devs to Kindly step forward, if possible, please...
Your efforts are always appreciated and welcome guys...

Well, atleast let the ROM go stable for Mi5, as it is released just few days ago in beta. After proper release, porting maybe an option.

Agreed but the ROM is already out of Internal Alpha Testing to Private Beta Testing to Public Beta/Developer/Weekly ROM now... We can wait... There's no issue in waiting for this ROM to get PORT though...

Some users reported heat and just 3 4 hours sot, force closes here and there and there are many Oreo features are missing,
Let it progress and lets see how stable it will be after 2 3 updates,
Porting Xiaomi eu roms among other are in my list, but time management is a problem for me so it may take time.
Hope to see more devs/users trying to port MIUI based on global Branch.

That's what I said but I think MIUI 10 will be properly compatible with Oreo as MIUI is always little late implementing all the features from AOSP like the amount of time taken them to apply notification reply.
