I appreciate your warning, however this has been discussed in great depth before on this thread and is why HTC so nicely provided you with a protector in the first place
thanks for reply .I do not know this thread discussed before, and if i knew so my screen still clean

If you search you will find that there are threads about replacement covers for people who have scratched their HD. Most likely in the Blackstone accessories forum
I knew this after seeing my work mates Diamond, he asked me what the clear plastic on the box was for just a little too late Im afraid
Having had an LG Viewty for 18 months and using their stylus on it constantly, I found the screen protector to be much more of a hinderance than a help and as a consequence had not used the screen protector on my HTC Touch HD.
YMMW.
IMHO As far as quality goes there are screen protectors and there are screen protectors.
I always use one but have had problems in the past with el-cheapo ones so I only buy decent brands which a worth the month as they last a LONG time, do not hinder the interaction with the touch screen or alter the viewing experience.
And don't worry too much Gray_Fox, again IMHO it doesn't matter what you write on this forum someone will always chip in with a very supportive "use the search function!" Do a search on being told to use the search function and you will see what I mean ;-)
i think ive used mt stylus twice since i got device
yh i never really use mine especially with duttys rom

Obviously it can scratch, it's only plastic. The front of my HD has little scratches all over it, all on the included screen protector.
Keep the tip of your stylus clean or use a screen protector, pretty much common sense really.
I use mine all the time, and i have no scratches at all. You people must press VERY hard!
Kind of them to bundle a screen protector with the package but why not send a Blackstone that's already got one applied? Or even better just make a more resilient screen, I don't remember any other of my HTCs having this problem!
When I bought my 3G five months ago, I had the included HTC screen protector mounted on the screen, for obvious reasons.
Now, I cannot get it off, so it can be replaced with a new one (I have been to several mobile shops and they cannot remove it by the traditional "sticky" tape way)
Any ideas please?
Help
I replaced mine yesterday and I know your pain.
It was a right bugger getting it off, i ended up using part of the cap of a biro that I'd flattened
I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks as I've ordered a load of different screen protectors for testing.
Thanks for the info - I will give "various" things a try ...
Good luck with the testing ...
Has anyone tried a bit of heat, leave phone in sun for awhile or hairdryer maybe???
I had my screen protectors replaced before. Not on Jade but once on Kaiser and once on O2. No issues. Easily peeled off and replaced. I'm not sure what the brand was. As I understand there was no "glue" involved, it's just the plastic "stickiness" to the screen, just like sticking plastic stickers to the car windscreen.
Could you guys please keep us informed how you managed to take it off?
I have also put the included protector on as a temporary measure while I am waiting for anti-glare protector.

I have just got my DHD, have two Desires and a Wildfire, and have been very happy with the build quality on them all so far. But on the DHD apart from the sim cover issue which seems to be well covered here, has anyone noticed the edges of the screen??? to me it seems the screen is to low in the case, on mine if yu run your finger across the screen towards the side of the phone, the case seems higher than the screen, and is quit a rough edge to it.
This is all round the edge of the phone. The screen seems to be aligned in the casing, it just seems as if it sits low and not flush with the side of the case.
Are they all like this? Or is this another build issue with the DHD.
Other than this, I am more than happy with the phone, and can put up with it, if there are more like it, but as I only have a seven day exchange, I would rather get one that is correct, if even this is a fault.
Cheers
Yeah mine is like that and prefere it as I don't use screen protectors so if your phone is placed on a surface the screen it self wont be in contact so wont get scratched easy. Weather or not that is reason for this I don't no but I do prefere it. Although they could of made the edges better as they are slightly to rough

Yes they are. Maybe it's designed to hold the screen higher when you put the phone face down, so it doesn't get scratched. Anyway if you put a screen protector (and I advise you to do it), it'll be perfectly flat.
Cheers everyone, feel a whole lot better knowing this. As I said other than that I am more than happy with my new toy. Soo many additional features from the standard Desire.
Only issue I have is affording a Desire Z as well to complete the collection
Cheers again, a screen protector is my next purchase, already have the htc leather pouch coming, as I have these for the other two Desires and my Wildfire, also have a gel skin coming as well, but will see when it comes if I am going to use it.
Any tips on a good screen protector to get?
Yep...go to the Accessories section or Ebay and Google should help you with your quire...

So in a week or two I am going to replace the screen on my T-mo HD2. It's perfectly fine, except that end call button issue, and it's bugging me enough that I want to replace it. After I do that, should I get the screen Ghost Armored? My current screen is almost scratchless after months of use, but in the upcoming months, I'll be traveling to DC then China, so I don't want to risk scratching it up.
SO, my question is..
1. Is the Ghost Armor worth the $25 or however much it is?
2. Is there any good alternatives to Ghost Armor I should know about?
3. Is the HD2's screen scratch resistant enough that I should go without any protection?
Thanks for any advice!
12months without protection & like new.
25bucks no way, can buy digi for that, perhaps a cheap screen protector while travelling! don't like them myself on glass screens ...

I am not sure why the button issue leads to a replacement of an almost scratchless, perfectly working screen? But if I were to get a new screen, $25 for a protector is way too much, personally I use mirrored protectors at about $1 every 3-4 months or so. As far as Gorilla glass claims - mine got scratched, I too thought nothing can touch it.

It's because the ribbon that connects the digitizer is located right underneath the end call button, so too much pressing of that button can lead to the ribbon coming loose. To get to the ribbon you have to take the screen off, and I don't think you can do it without breaking the screen to take it off. If there was another way to fix the button without replacing the screen I'd totally do it, but I haven't found any ways from my searching.
I suggest you try your own disassembly prior to getting the necessary parts and see how everything is positioned.

After reading your first post, that got me thinking that I might not need to do a screen replace after all... I've watched over some HD2 dissassembly videos, and I'm thinking that I might be able to remove the screen, reattach the ribbon so it's firmly in place, and put the screen back... All I'll need is the $3 repair kit from Amazon, saving me the cost of a new digitizer. Also, would screen protectors like this
http://www.amazon.com/EMPIRE-Crysta...GIQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328106829&sr=8-1
or

This be good? The reviews aren't too bad, and they're way cheaper than Ghost Armor, so I figure there's no harm in it!
I simply love my mirror protectors, they look amazing on and last forever, unless you have a habit of dropping your phone into a bag full of sharp objects. I really replace it every few months because I am a girl and want it to look PERFECT, not because it becomes too scratched or unusable, they barely scratch. You can order the same in clear, of course - same strength and protection, just no mirror.
The only downside to mirror protector is visibility reduced even further in bright sunlight. You might want to try both and see which one you prefer, they are cheap, well, $25 will buy you a whole lot of any type.
Stay away from matte protector finish, I found them to not only be rubbish and feel funny to touch, the colors of the screen looked muted and washed out.
Everybody comments on my mirror protector, haha, they think it's some kind of cool new-age screen technology - fancy looking LCD
Do you have a link to the mirror protector you have? I've been looking at some and they seem pretty nice, but I haven't found any on Amazon yet that have good reviews. Thank you for your help by the way
Hello,
I am looking for a cover, and i checked every thread here and didn't see anyone talking about that :
A cover that fit well without covering the edge of the S9+ and not disturbing the usage of the edge functionalities (like the edge panel).
The only cover i saw that seem to do that is the Pitaka MagCase
But 50$ for a cover is just insane.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Spigen Rugged Armor, I have this case. It covers the entire back, and has a nice recess for the finger print sensor so you can find it without looking. It covers the side buttons and has a textured one for the bixby button. Possibly to help you avoid it? I dont know lol
I doesnt cover the sides of the screen at all and the edge display works without problem. At the top and the bottom it does protrude a little, so as to lift the display up if it is face down etc, but how well that actually helps I don't know. Very good case though.
Cost me £8.99 on Amazon.co.uk

There is a thread about cases people have, it might also be worth looking in there. My old phone has the same style (rugged armor) case for it and has been great, so I went with that this time.
I just bought the I baiason case off amazon.. covers front and back and covers for the buttons and headphone and power.. just got it yesterday and isnt bulky at all and I only spent 20 on mine..
I run an OtterBox defender, and have full access to the edge, and use the edge panel often...
Every single case I've tried lets the edge functions work just fine, for me. My reviews here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/accessories/case-reviews-t3763881
I bought an incipio. Very good. Leaves plenty of edge space, Dual layer, but thin. Ive had this phone for a year and a half, and I even bought a backup case, just in case, lol no pun, but no, i haven't had to and ive dropped my poor phone more than thrice. I do have gorilla 6 glass protection though. Not one dang scratch.
This is the one i use. 3/8ths edge.
