Sound Problems after root - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I tested it more than one time, everytime I go from stock to root (I use the latest ....M firmware on my 9505) I have problems with the sound over the headphones - I tested different headphones, the problem is the phone not the headset.
If you turn up the volume and you have thick bass sound, the sound is "crunchy" (sorry, I dont know how to describe it better) it distorts and does not sound good. I do not use any mod or other things.
It's only in higher volumes, it is the stock firmware - rooted.
Am I the only one who has this problem? Perhaps you can test it, especially in loud, bass heavy parts.
With the stock firmware I don't have any of this problems. The problems are in the stock music player and in poweramp the same.
It would be nice to know if other people have the same problems....
Have a nice day

Ooooh i have just seen that there is a sound problem thread already here.
But if I am not deaf I think it is only if I use the rooted phone... I have to test again...

There's no way a sound problem can have any relation to root.

Have you tested it.

Ok it may work for other mobiles
But it surely doesn't work in case of our blade

Yes i have tested it and the difference is audible, more than Dolby, Beats, Xloud or SRS.
Ps: with earpiece, you can really feel the difference

This is just an enhanced setting.
It won't work unless you're listening to 100hz bass, it excludes almost everything but dance/trance/hip hop music.
And if you listen to that, sell your phone and buy a better board.
(ayes from the days of Tony Alva)
com'on dont fool urselves...blade's headset is plain crap...just buy a pair of sony or whatever you like best...and for the inbuild speaker just set the dsp to bass reducer...

G2 Freezes when hot

I have a G2 with Cyanogen mod on it and for some reason when I bring it out and turn it off and try to turn it back on the screen won't come back on and it only does this when the back plate is hot, I tried underclocking it but the underclock wont stick and doesn't seem to help anyway. Makes it really unreliable when it does this can anyone tell me why? I was thinking about updating to the newest cyanogen since i'm running it off whatever my friend put on it when I bought it from him.
You probably have an app running in the background that uses a lot of resources. I would factory reset and flash the latest CM nightly/gapps

Never happened to me, but sometimes when my dz is hot ( due to navi, wifi-tethering, ecc ) it simply turns off.. since i have a stock-rom.
But, in your case, i suggest to re-install the rom after a full-dalvik wipe.
A dalvik-wipe won't help him very much.. i think you mean superwipe

Yes, I mean full-wipe + dalvik-wipe
same with stock rom
Hi, I have the latest stock rom with the small update released a few months ago, and have the same problem, when the phone is too hot, it freezes. Only solution is to remove battery to restart.
Mine usually reboots, but could be a rogue app or bad battery.

Noise in headphones since kitkat

good morning, I have a problem with my g2 since upgrade to kit kat, when I plug the headphones I hear a noise, without playing anything, when I hear music or youtube also
headphones are not I've tried several, another Spanish forum there are more people with this problem ,hard reset don,t solve it
when I was in jb with viper4android my g2 was perfect
to hear only have to unlock the phone and connect the headphones, anyone else hear it?
thanks
I have the same problem. Howeveri after not using the phone for 1-2 hours the noise is gone. I can use the headphones without any noise.
After a restart, it comes back and goes away.
The volume of the device decreased after the KK update. I think it is not a bug. With PA or CM it was lower too. (4.2.2 stock has high volume level)
I thought this issue is only when using external amp which is the reason I reverted to 4.2.2. It's a shame Kitkat has this issue otherwise, I could have been very happy updating to KK. Hopefully, there will be fix available soon.
Same problem here. Which KK rom did you flash? I used the pre-rooted one. Could that be the problem>

Are you on kk rooted? Could you install viper4android and listen if the problem persist?
I m on a stock vdf and i haven t root to try it

Same problem for me too. D802 international version. Never had the problem on JB or paranoid android 4.4. I've installed viper4android however the problem is still there. I'm using the stock 4.4 vodafone with root that others have shared and loving it except for this sound issue
Hmm..makes me question whether to upgrade to KK when it's out on VZW...
This morning i downgrade to jb until this problem be solved

I thought this is kitkat problem. I have used my friend's HTC One (unrooted) running Kitkat and to my surprised my USB DAC/Amp worked with no problem and no additional app needed. The static and hiss are not present either. Perhaps HTC had done some modification/improvement on their ROM.

Same problem here, D802 4.4 with Vodafone Stock ROM.
I'm suscribing to this thread just in case someone finds the fix
There is no solve for this problem?
I have it too :crying:
LG G2 good phone ruined by LG & their crappy software!
I have the same problem with the official HK rom.
I notice with earbud headphones the problem is not there. However with some proper Sennheiser headphones the audio is terrible and can barely make out any music over the static and crackling.
I'm using Logitech UE6000 and it's pretty bad, much worse than with the included lg earbuds. But with high enough volume it becomes almost not noticeable, still it's clearly something wrong here..

Same problem here, anyone contacted LG?

Since upgraded, I have the hissing issue with the left ear phone and I thought I could get away with it with my external dac. Unfortunately, it does not work anymore. The same dac was working perfectly prior to the upgrade on D80210d stock rom.
Anyone has the same issue? I am using xDuoo xp-1.
the hissing/crackling sound is a bug in kitkat which is already known, although I haven't heard it since I installed kk a month ago so I can only comment according to what everyone has said
There are stock based custom ROMs out there with a fix for this if you don't mind flashing.

Is there not just a fix to flash?
So i don't have to reinstall everything....

I haven't stumbled on a fix, so you will have to search
I use CloudyPro II. The best thing that ever happened to my phone. Hissing sound is fixed there.
It isn't based on LG G2 stock. It is based on LG G Pro 2 stock but it's very smooth and everything seems to work. It's very similar to stock LG G2 and has all the LG apps.

Well CloudyPro is indeed good and solves the hissing sound issue.
The downside, as with many custom roms, are random reboots. For me about once a day or so.
Pretty annoying each time.

OOS 3.0 crackling sound in earphones/headset

Hello !
I updated Yesterday, and I have ONE issue on my OP2 : on the highest levels, the sound in my earphones is cracking, kinda distorted, I can ear my music, but the bass are crackling !
Does anybody have this issue ? Is there a fix ? Thanks in advance !
Oh, and for the information, I am on stock OOS 3.0, I just rooted it, nothing else installed !
So what you're saying here is that there are bugs in the beta build? Shocking news ?
Skickat från min ONE A2003 via Tapatalk
I experienced the same thing. OOS3 has really bad audio quality. I reverted back to OOS2.

I would suggest you install Viper4Android . The sound is way better . You will instantly love it. And i played the audio on the highest level and no distortion as such.
This thread will help you on how to install Viper4Android.

Yeah, I tried with Viper. It made some difference but not enough. The sound felt really flat compared to all my other devices. OOS3 was also unusable for med due to the data dropping as soon as I used WIFI.
Still, wait for the official release of OOS3, it might have less bugs.
Dude its beta built obvious there are bugs [emoji14]

PX5 OCTA Core 8.0 need some tweaks but cannot get root ....

Hey guys I am new this radio but not to the scene. I need just a couple tweaks done but since I cannot find any root solutions I thought I would see if anyone had an answer...
1st. I need a few apps whitelisted, when it goes into sleep mode it kills things like Llama and a full screen app I use for Waze. I really want this fixed..
2nd. If 1 can't be solved is there a way to get it to go to full screen when Waze is opened without additional steps or starting additional apps
3rd. Volume adjusts with speed. I downloaded an app that does it but it will not adjust the volume it moves but it does not actually change the volume.
4th. Obviously Xposed would do all this but since I can't get root, I'm stuck so Root options would be great.
5th. I'm assuming since I do not have a SD slot upgrades are not option? My last radio I could do it via USB. Any insight?
Thanks for any help..
