[Q] Nexus 7 Speaker Failure - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I have a unrooted nexus 7 which has been working fine until a month ago... It started with the power button no longer responding which somehow corrected it self. That sameday I'm watching a you tube video and the speaker buzzed for a second locking up the video, so I had to replay the video and suddenly had no sound... I played around with all the volume controls in the settings and had no success however the volume control for alarm and notification alarm did play a test sound when I moved the bar but did not increase in volume or decrease just remained at the same soft level no matter where I placed my finger on the control bar. But the headphones still work.
So I did a factory reset and it had no effect. I left the device off for a few hours and turned it back on and the audio came back like new, but after 15 to 20 mins it goes right back to the same problem I had since I watched the you tube video... No one else seems to be experiencing this so I think the speaker or something in the hardware has failed... I'll probably RMA but if any one has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
Thanks

I think you are correct about the hardware problem. When it's an hardware issue nothings better than RMA.

Changing volume during music playback causes stutter

I've searched and haven't seen a thread about this yet, so sorry if it's a double post.
Yesterday I started playing some music on my HD2, and all went good. The volume change was nice, with that bar appearing instead of the grey screen. However when I changed to a different artist, and went to increase the volume, the music paused for a second, then continued at the higher volume. The volume bar did not appear.
I went back to the original artist to see if maybe some partially corrupt MP3s were causing the problem but no, it happens no matter what now. If I change tab and play with the volume I get the grey screen and it all goes smoothly. I've tried with audio booster on & off. And I've even restarted the phone in case it was just stress getting to it - no luck.
Anyone had this problem? How did you fix it?
I have this problem too, drives me crazy! More so since the sound quality is superb! I noticed that sometimes this switch to "volume problem" follows answering the phone with or without BT ear piece, but I cannot be entirely sure. Does anybody have any solution?
I have this problem too! The same thing happens in the streaming video app as well. Also I find that it's very hit and miss when the green volume bar appears (the horizontal one) as opposed to the grey one (vertical) Anyone else find this?
I had this problem the first day with my Leo, but it suddenly disappeared. Never seen the problem since...
Just to keep you all posted - the problem went away by itself
Hoping a fix is found to stop it recurring though.
Im having this problem too... also when using windows media player (sometimes it leads to phone crash)

[Q] Strange problem with sound (or loud speaker)

Last night the loud speaker operated well (I watched youtube, listened to music etc...). Today I my alarm clock woke me up at 6:00AM, I instantly pressed "Snooze" for 10 minutes delay and that's all... no more sound after that - no music, no sound in video, no alarm clock signals... Not any single sound at all! Tried everything I could - restart phone, try to switch profiles, connect/disconnect hearphones, change volume levels on all channels... Useless. So I decided to send it to service center, but then - 3 hours later - the sound appears again!
I don't think why it happened (but I'm rather happy now
I use this phone less than 1 month and do baby it and therefore there is practically no chance of mechanical damage... More likely it is software bug....
Did anyone encounter something like that?

[Q] nexus 7 making clicking noise while connected to speakers in sleep mode

when my nexus 7 is in sleep mode and connected to an external speaker its making a clicking noise..
its not the speakers b/c i have tried different speakers with the same result...
anybody else having this issue and is there a way to fix it?
I am having the same issue. When my nexus 7 is asleep and also connected to external speakers, there is a dull tick over the speakers about every 3 seconds or so. The sound is similar to tapping a record player needle with your finger. I've tried disabling touch sounds and lock screen sounds, but neither fixed the issue.
The issue occurs whether I tap the power button or let it fall asleep.
Edit: Flashed a new kernel. Was running bricked, now running trinity. Issue is gone.
I also had bricked kernal switched back to stock issue is gone atleast for now!

No call and media volume (speakers)

It started two days ago when I placed a call and my phone didn't turn off the screen when it was near to my ear (proximity sensor thing). Next, the earpiece (upper speaker) didn't have any sound at all. I switched to loudspeaker and it did gave out sound perfectly. Later I tried playing songs, videos and none of the media had sound from the speakers while playing them.
However, when I plug in the headphones, the sound is perfect via them. Also when I plug in the headphone, the volume panel appears automatically and lowers down the volume instantly like someone was pressing the volume down button as soon as the headphone was plugged in.
I tried clearing cache, factory reset too. Even after factory reset it didn't work out but after some 2-3 hours it was all fine again for next 2-3 hours and then again no sound as before. The saddest part is my warranty is over just 1 day ago. So if anyone could help, it would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
Edit: Just found out the headphone icon is displayed even though I have no headphones plugged in. What I could make is it's a issue related to the headphone jack. I maybe wrong though. If someone has faced this earlier please shred some information.

Volume Fluctuations

So basically I've had an audio problem for all things (Bluetooth, earphones and speaker), where I've got media playing at, say 50% on the slider bar, then it suddenly drops to like 10% without the bar position changing before it suddenly returns to the normal state. This is extremely random for me and irritating, as the volume can stay low for an extended period of time, especially since by the time the volume returns to normal, I've raised the volume so it makes me jump when it suddenly blares a YouTube volume. Has anyone found a solution?
I have a rooted Samsung note 4 with the lamlazy note 7 port rom
Many thanks in advance
