[Q] stable jelly bean rom for xperia arc s? - Xperia Arc General

can anybody suugest which is the most stable and powerful rom for xperia arc s?
i have already unlocked my bootloader, rooted and installed the cwm in the phone.
i would require the download link as well as the instruction can anybody help me out?

1. Go check the development section instead of asking here. The only few JB ROMs available for Arc/S are CM10 based ROMs.
2. No point asking for best ROM, everyone has different requirements that are satisfied by different ROMs.
(layman terms - different people have different opinions on different ROMs)

Just to add - There is no stable JB ROM, because we lack of libs, that are needed for further upgrades.

IMHO, FXP's CM10 is the most stable JB for our Arc.

First do not ask questions in the General section.
Second remember what popthosegaskets said above.

OP as stated from above....also do not create multiply threads on the same topic...

[Q] ROMs - Selection and Other Questions

Hi Guys,
I've got a stock A500 and due to the conflicting reports as to whether Acer will provide an OTA update to Jellybean, I've decided to flash a custom ROM as there as some minor quirks that are starting to bug me.
Anyway, I've found the thread to explain what to do - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 - but it's left me with a couple of questions.
Selection of ROM
I can see at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136 there are links to various threads relating to custom ROMs such as CM10 Jellybean, AOKP Jellybean and CM10 Jellytime etc.
1) These have other topics scattered throughout so I was wondering if there's a page that summarises the various JB ROMs out there with a link to their topic page?
2) Without knowing each of the developers, how does one choose which ROM to use? Is there such a thing as a "vanilla/Plain-Jane" JB ROM?
3) Each of these topics have the first post outlining the ROM with a link to the zip file. Does the author update this link in the 1st post if there's update to the ROM or do you need to read through all the posts to see if the author has an updated link?
4) Once you've installed a custom ROM, how do you know if there's updates? Does the Update in Settings work or do you need to manually come back to the topic and see if the zip file is updated?
ROM/Kernel
At http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 it says that you need
external SD card, root rights, unlocked bootloader (if you're on stock ICS), custom recovery and a custom ROM of your choice.

Yet further down it talks about Custom ROMs and Custom Kernels.
1) What are the differences?
2) What does a Kernel do?
3) Do I need this or just the ROM?
Thanks
PS - Not sure if this topic is better suited to be in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136, but since it's a question, the rules say that it should go in the Q&A section.

Which is the best custom ROM for Sony Xperia Arc/Arc S

After testing and using plenty of Custom ROMs on my SONY XPERIA ARC,I'm of the opinion that the following are the best Custom ROMs for this device
-BASED ON GINGERBREAD:
1.X-GAMER
2.ACRONIUM 8.2
-BASED ON ICECREAM SANDWICH:
1.XPERIA ULTIMATE HD
2.JELLY SANDWICH 8.5
-BASED ON JELLYBEAN:
1.SLIM BEAN 4.0
2.RACING BEAN
Lots of ROMs are out there for xperia arc.Among them these are the finest ROMs.Top most in performance and user interface is Xperia Ultimate HD.
NOTE:
Install a cache cleaner from playstore and set it to run daily which will help the rom to run smoother and there won't be much lags,
Thank you:laugh::good:
These topics are not allowed. Been said lots of times.

For real. What is best for person, may not be best for another guy.
Your opinion on "Best Custom ROM" may differ with other people on XDA, so unless you happen to be some recognised contributor or something I suggest you don't post threads like this.
And apparently you're not the only one who has done flashing on your phone, many other people here have done it as well.

all roms and kernels are in the dev section
origional development is for roms built from source and there are only a couple of source built cm roms - not really worth its own forum
The following are most likely “Original Development”:
Official releases of highly original and upstream custom ROMs (built from the ground up with significant original development within them
Official releases/development of such original ROMs, perhaps posted by the maintainer or their nominated person.
A significant “first” in development for a device. Significant is subjective, but it is likely something which took considerable time/effort, and is generally accepted by developers to be significant and non-trivial.
Kernels which are built with beneficial changes that are not simply pulled from other kernels already available. Some element of original work is expected.
Tools and utilities with a clear purpose, and which are well-made, and useful to users. They should have an element of originality, either in purpose or through significant improvement in the means of operation.
Significant port of a ROM from one device to another, giving enhanced features or functionality to users of the target device. The port should be beneficial (a port from two virtually identical devices isn’t original development, it’s winzipping, and nobody really benefits from this, as it’s not development)

Original Android Development vs. Android Development

A question for understanding forums selection:
For me is "Original Android Development" that the ROM based on Stock ROM from Device, for example : HTC M8 with Sense6 is stock and original and HTC without Sense6 like CM is Android Development
Is this right or give me please another explanation!?
Thx in advance
No, you have it reversed. Also kernels, recoveries and stuff tends to go into original. This should be mentioned in a sticky in one or both of these subforums.
The wording is bad, the distinction arbitrary, and all over it's a terrible idea.
This has been brought up a few times.
Original Android development can have both sense roms and non sense roms eg CM, recoveries and kernels. The difference is the OP of the ROM has had to have made a large contribution to make the rom, recovery or kernel different to anything else of its type. This means that there has to be a large number of features that are unique to that rom and not offered in other roms.
Also any builds that go into OAD forums should be official builds by official maintainers as well. All non official builds should be in AD forum.
This would apply to kernels recoveries etc as well.
Edit here is the link to the main page that says what can go in to OAD and what cant: Introducing Original Development Forums for More Devices
Hi , thanks for your reply !
Now i got it !

why don't open a section for cyanogen??

hello. as most users have stock based modded roms, why don't separe the cyanogen? these roms confuse users with rare problems too...... i hope this solution because this is sometimes a problem
easiest, just to go cm homepage.
i don't need cm... the cm's rom invade the android development note 3, i ask why isn't there the separation
Most users don't use stock based roms many many use CM and without CM their would be a none to poor development scene .
One of the basics is if you don't understand then don't use modded firmware .
i asked for forum organization, and not for say that cm is better or not than stock based.... your answer is not pertinent to my question. goodbye

What? CM "invades" Android development? You can guess who the first team was, to modify Android and present it as a custom ROM in the Android Development section. What's actually invading the Android Development section are all those "Stable, ROCK SOLID,® 100% Stable | BETTARY LAyF ◄◄©" TouchWiz ROM's! Those need a seperate section called "Stock ROM's with community bloatware instead of OEM bloatware claiming to break the barriers of physiks and being faster than light and breaking the first and second law of thermodynamics"... Not all of them of course. Exceptions are there.
Know where you are and why you are here!
