Hi everybody
It may be a noob question, but i've wondered if it's actually necessary to charge the device to 100% before flashing a new rom. I've flashed many roms, but I always waited untill it was fully charged. Back in the days when I had my galaxy S, I've read that you should charge it to 100% before flashing a new rom or else the battery would be calibrated badly.
I know it surely doesn't harm the device to fully charge it but it's a pain in the a** if you do it everytime you try out a new rom.
So is it still necessary to charge the device fully before flashing a new ROM?
Thanks for answering

in my years of flashing, i dont think that ive ever flashed when i was at 100%, and ive never heard of the need to be at 100%. id never be able to flash on the spot. oppositely, i know ive flashed countless amount of times while under 10%.

You don't need to be fully charged each to flash. Just make sure it's above at least 50-60 percent of power left just to be safe.

You don't have to charge it to 100% AFAIK. Just make sure it'll survive the flash (don't flash if you have less than 30% battery left) and charge it to 100% when you've booted after flashing. That's what I do and it works just fine for me.
Thanks for the answers, feel kinda silly now that i've always waited till full charge

Ive flashed with 15% power before. Makes no difference. In all my times of flashing ROMS and kernels ect, ive noticed it usually takes about 1 to 5 % max batt life to backup / wipe / flash.

As many of you guys here have experienced, when in android on your HD2 you cannot get 100% charge. I have found a solution that has worked for me. When charging your phone Unmount your SD card and charge the phone. I have done this many times and I can charge the phone to 100%. This way we do not have to turn the phone off to charge it to 100%.
Hope this help you guys out!!
Hmmm i had no trouble getting there with the latest MDJ and JDMS builds....
Also another issue with not being able to charge up to 100 percent is TO MAKE SURE THE PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED WHEN BOOTING AN ANDROID ROM FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Interesting. Didn't know that one. All I did was unmount the SD card once and then charged it and now it will charge to 100% all the time.

Just gonna quote for truth really, suprising the amount of people who don't know or believe this simple but important thing. This will also mean your battery drain problems should disappear too, I get over two days (just) with MDJ's FroyoHD 4.4 following this method.
So I bought the official Motorola extended battery. I've followed ever freaking guide there is to resetting the battery and all. I still have issues with my battery, multiple roms, wipes, resets haven't helped. I unplug my charger at 7am, by noon I have 10% or less left. It stays low till it turns off sometime the next day.
What am I missing.....
That's very odd.
I know that you stated you had already tried a battery wipe, but just to be careful:
Charge to 100%
Let it run completely dead
Charge to 100% without turning the phone on
Wipe Battery Stats
Also, there's more information I need to post here, and what rom are you using?

I'm running MUI, latest build. I don't think it will charge with the phone off will it? On this rom I mean.
the 2nd Init ROMs won't charge while off. You should try putting up with a stock ROM for a day while you troubleshoot the battery. If you can correct the issue using the above method you should be gtg. Once it's fixed install MIUI on a full battery and do a battery wipe.
Ok so I flashed back to Libery .9. Charging from fully dead now while off.

Why not? It is nice to have always-signal available though
The miui rom drains the battery quite fast I have the extended life and I get about a day with miui. when I switch to cm7 I get about 3 days its the rom itself unfortunately

It's the roms more than likely.

hey guys i have looked around and searched but i cant seem to find what im looking for, my atrix battery last literally 3 hours with about 10 min of craigslist, 10-20 min of game and rest for texting, that cannot be normal. so my question is are there any ways to fix the battery life on 2.3.4 stock with no root? or is my phone defective since my battery life is so bad.....? thx
Need more details like rom, kernel, phone version, how old phone/battery is. Also, for starters charge phone fully and then run down battery to 5% and charge fully again, and run down low again and charge fully again. This should calibrate battery. If nothing improves then it could be rom, app, kernel that is screwing with you. In the unlikiely event trying all these solutions doesn't help, your battery might be fried and not holding charges well, or you have a hardware probelm that sucks up juice.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
everything is completely stock i just updated it from 2.1 i think, thinking it would help but no. i updated it thru the phone to 2.3.4. the phone apparently is only 1 week old.
Ok, my battery(atleast I believe it's my battery) is having a serious issue, so hopefully someone will be able to help me out on this one. After flashing multiple roms and such over time now, this has never happened till now, basically whats going on is my phone will be completely charged, then ill unplug it and mess around with it for a short time then say the battery percentage is at 75% well randomly the phone will just completely shut off. When turning it back on the battery will be completely dead, or on occasion it will either be slightly the same percentage or lower, but most of the time completely dead. Ive been running the same old stock evo battery since the day the evo came out and im currently running Gruesomwolf's shooter e3d rom which ironically this all started happening the first time I flashed it. So hopefully someone can help out with this, been thinking the battery is just done for, but im not sure. So I figured i'd ask for some help and opinions on what to do haha
Sounds like the battery is done to me.

since no one's said it, I think your battery is pining for the fjords.
Might want to clear battery stats and charge to full once while the phone is turned off, but I really think daisies are being pushed up...
Check and clean the contacts on both the battery and on the phone itself, being careful not to short the battery while cleaning it. Then, reinstall the battery and make sure theres not too much or any play where contact may be lost. If you do that and still have a problem, its definitely new battery time.

your battery might be dead but you should either try 1 of 3 things first:
1 - you can calibrate your battery
2 - Flash a new Kernel
3 - Flash a new Rom
you may find aosp roms/kernels in the link in my sig, if you are interested. hope i helped ^_^

Try this trick by zeppelinrox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458&postcount=10
Sounds like its toast to me as well. But you can try calibrating like others have mentioned just for sh*ts and giggles. It may or may not help.
Unplugging your battery and dropping a ton of percentage...that's normal with most evos...lack of an SBC kernel

If u clean the contacts use a qtip and 91% rubbing alcohol. Let it sit for 30 mins so the alcohol can completely evaporate. Then charge til green light with phone off, boot into recovery wipe battery stats, and cache and dalvik while ur there, reboot to phone run it completely dead recharge to green while phone is still off. Use like normal afterwards if battery is still acting up time to euthanize it and get a replacement
Edit: by 91% alcohol I mean the bottle says 91% on it not like 91% alcohol mixed with 9% water its the purest alcohol u can buy at the store

Having this issue too after installing CM a few days ago. My extended 3500mAh dies out a few hours quicker than with stock. I heard Tiamat and Savages Zen kernels help battery life. But having major problems trying to flash it.

I have Note 4 SM-910C Unrooted international on stock ROM 5.0.1.
my problem started with battery charging to around 80% then stops or take like 5 hours to reach 100% then when I use the phone battery suddenly drops from 20-30% to zero.
if I remove the battery then reinstall it reads 16-18% but may drop back to zero.
when turned off while charged it charges to 100% normally
It is irrespective of charger/cable i use (2mA).
tried hard reset and battery calibrate (non-root) but no good.
Any help with this problem

Sounds like your battery has gone rogue so you might wanna buy a new battery. A great example why not to buy Note 5 lol.
Maybe it's a bug in your rom build so why don't you try and upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1.
I have not used stock roms since the s2 days and after using custom roms I have never looked back.

i have the same problem with my N910F.. at 20% my phone dies.. like today it was 20% dropped to 4% in an instance and then died..
this is happening since upgrading to 5.1.1 (dirty)..
is it possible to fix this with a factory reset ?
Try Battery calibration and battery repair from the store... If it's not doing something, then replace the battery
make sure your battery is fully charged. From dialing interface typing in *#0228# to check battery info and clicked "quick start" at the bottom of the screen, then your battery will drop down quickly, try these steps several times.

Yeah, Samsung has a solution. Buy a new phone as they will never update the 1 year old one even though they ****ed it up...
As much as Iove Note family I am more and more pissed with Samsung and eventually will stop buying their ****.... Already done with their watches by the way...
Definitely a degraded battery problem.
I got a new battery and problem now solved.
I have the same problem and already bought a new battery but the issue continues.
