Droid X battery fail - Droid X General

So I bought the official Motorola extended battery. I've followed ever freaking guide there is to resetting the battery and all. I still have issues with my battery, multiple roms, wipes, resets haven't helped. I unplug my charger at 7am, by noon I have 10% or less left. It stays low till it turns off sometime the next day.
What am I missing.....

That's very odd.
I know that you stated you had already tried a battery wipe, but just to be careful:
Charge to 100%
Let it run completely dead
Charge to 100% without turning the phone on
Wipe Battery Stats
Also, there's more information I need to post here, and what rom are you using?

I'm running MUI, latest build. I don't think it will charge with the phone off will it? On this rom I mean.

the 2nd Init ROMs won't charge while off. You should try putting up with a stock ROM for a day while you troubleshoot the battery. If you can correct the issue using the above method you should be gtg. Once it's fixed install MIUI on a full battery and do a battery wipe.

Ok so I flashed back to Libery .9. Charging from fully dead now while off.

Why not? It is nice to have always-signal available though

The miui rom drains the battery quite fast I have the extended life and I get about a day with miui. when I switch to cm7 I get about 3 days its the rom itself unfortunately

It's the roms more than likely.

Calibrating the battery in MIUI Rom.....

Hi all. I'm using Miui rom 1.6.17.1. i installed it without charging the phone fully and now my battery life sux :-\
So i turn my phone off and try to charge it for caibrating in CWM but it turning on once i plug the charger....
I understand thats it a known issue, so how can i do this thing?
calibrating in miui? i would say its impossible
when my charger is pluged in an i restartmy phone then spring the percentag from 40 to 55
sad ... same here ... but you may try to let your phone to complete discharging battery, until go off ... and after that charge it 100% without using the phone and clear battery statistics from cwm.
Well...may be it was stupid thing to do but i flashed froyo back on...calibrated and than flashed miui with 100%
well ... your battery will still suck...cuz its cm7 base..which has battery drain
cm7 <3
Yeah...thats a problem, but i'm in love in miui
The latest cm7 should have addressed it already.
I was in the same situation as you, battery only lasts 6hrs on any given day.
My battery now lasts more than a day even on moderate use n 3G on all day. I initially rest the battery stats then performed a full power cycle.
Now when I upgrade between miui versions, I always ensure that the battery is 100%

may i know how to calibrate battery ?
i m in miui rom
You can't calibrate the battery properly in MIUI as it is supposed to be done with the phone off, MIUI or rather as someone else has mentioned its down to CM7
It can't charge the phone with it switched off because I believe CM7 is based on the Nexus and the Nexus cannot charge with the phone off
I could be wrong though, but the above is what I have gathered through reading about it

A battery issue that's driving me insane.

Ok, my battery(atleast I believe it's my battery) is having a serious issue, so hopefully someone will be able to help me out on this one. After flashing multiple roms and such over time now, this has never happened till now, basically whats going on is my phone will be completely charged, then ill unplug it and mess around with it for a short time then say the battery percentage is at 75% well randomly the phone will just completely shut off. When turning it back on the battery will be completely dead, or on occasion it will either be slightly the same percentage or lower, but most of the time completely dead. Ive been running the same old stock evo battery since the day the evo came out and im currently running Gruesomwolf's shooter e3d rom which ironically this all started happening the first time I flashed it. So hopefully someone can help out with this, been thinking the battery is just done for, but im not sure. So I figured i'd ask for some help and opinions on what to do haha

since no one's said it, I think your battery is pining for the fjords.
Might want to clear battery stats and charge to full once while the phone is turned off, but I really think daisies are being pushed up...
Check and clean the contacts on both the battery and on the phone itself, being careful not to short the battery while cleaning it. Then, reinstall the battery and make sure theres not too much or any play where contact may be lost. If you do that and still have a problem, its definitely new battery time.

your battery might be dead but you should either try 1 of 3 things first:
1 - you can calibrate your battery
2 - Flash a new Kernel
3 - Flash a new Rom
you may find aosp roms/kernels in the link in my sig, if you are interested. hope i helped ^_^

Unplugging your battery and dropping a ton of percentage...that's normal with most evos...lack of an SBC kernel

If u clean the contacts use a qtip and 91% rubbing alcohol. Let it sit for 30 mins so the alcohol can completely evaporate. Then charge til green light with phone off, boot into recovery wipe battery stats, and cache and dalvik while ur there, reboot to phone run it completely dead recharge to green while phone is still off. Use like normal afterwards if battery is still acting up time to euthanize it and get a replacement
Edit: by 91% alcohol I mean the bottle says 91% on it not like 91% alcohol mixed with 9% water its the purest alcohol u can buy at the store

battery?

im running the stable cm7 release and my battery life is terrible. i followed the guide on the forums here on fixing your battery life, charging to 100% pull battery put back in instal battery fix etc and overnight (short 5 hour night btw) i lost over 25% of my battery life, doing nothing ! wifi off data was on but i only recieved one or two emails all night. is this normal for cm7?
i read about how people are getting 20+ hours battery life while using their phone, if i leave my charger at home and go to work my phone is DEAD halfway through and all i use it for is the occasional phone call mabye 5-10 texts throughout the day and an email or two... how can i fix this?
I read somewhere that if you flash another ROM with battery not fully charged, it messes up calibration and you have to calibrate again. I am still with stock Blur just because I read so many issues with so many people about batteries
I hope you can get it figured out.
anybody?
is anybody else having battery life issues with cm7? if not did you do something to fix it? i have no idea what to do, the phone pretty much has to be tethered to a charger or it gets drained ridiculously fast. If i hang out with a few friends and use my phone during it i literally have to stop using it after around an hour or so because the battery's about to die.
Is there a certain rom with exceptional battery life that i can try to see if mabye its a hardware related issue? i seem to remember having horrible battery life for the day? or so that i was running stock ATT gingerbread.
I use Aura 1.2.2.2 (debloat) and get average battery life. Comparable to what I got before I installed third party ROM. If you want to try that one and see if its just CM then give it a go.
I had a battery problem after flashing to CM with a previous phone (OG Droid) but it was because I flashed while I had the phone plugged into the charger. It took a while to get it back to normal.
I doubt its CM. I dont know if its something draining your battery in the background or if its a result of weird calibration due to the flash.
my battery life has never been hte greatest but recently i got it working really well
I use the latest weekly build of CM7 and here is what i did
upon fresh install:
wipe battery stats
THEN:
kill battery
charge as far as it will go
clear battery stats (use battery calibration app)
take out battery
wait to reboot(missing battery)
put it back in
let it charge for 2hrs
reboot and unplug
kill the battery
charge to 100% while off (no interuptions)
Enjoy!
i have found that the more cycles my battery goes through 100-0-100
the better it gets
these steps almost tripled my battery life (along with Weekly 3)
there is a bug some people report with CM7 about the suspend process. (i have it, you can search "suspend" in the CM7 thread and see others are as well) load up the app betterbatterystats (there is a thread on xda that has the apk) and see if you have that bug.
I'm on nightly 20 having good battery life

i installed betterybatterystats as you guys recommended and im not entirely sure how to read it but the suspend process shows at the top of the list so i assume thats the process which is eating up my battery? Is there a fix for this? i do like cm7 but if its the rom which is causing my battery life issues ill have to wave goodbye. Does this suspend process but happen on the weekly / nightly builds as well?
I was having horrible battery life as well. I froze some apps that I downloaded from the market and that helped a little bit but what gave me 20+ hours of battery life is the new UK orange Radio that has recently been released. I wanted to flash it since I am using an Orange UK phone and see if it improves my wifi connection, etc....
Reddy flashing a radio appropriate to your device and see if it helps.

My battery blows with CM7. My phone has the suspend bug and nothing fixes it. I tried a fastboot wipe and clean install of the latest stable as well as nightly #20. I've tried several kernels, I'm currently running a screen off profile of 216-216 on the 1.0ghz kernel and I'm undervolted to the max just to make it thru the day.
I'm getting the nexus prime or the iPhone 5 next... which ever is released first.

[Q] Battery drains very quickily, charges very slowly

My Nook is suddenly taking about 12+ hours to charge, with the OEM cable and plug. I couldn't get it to charge at all at first. I did finally get it fully charged, and it instantly jumped from 78% battery power to 30%. I had tried to clear the battery thing in recovery mode, which might have made things worse.
It doesn't appear to be going into sleep mode, either, as after the 30% jump, I turned off the screen, and the next morning, it was completely drained. Am I looking at a dying battery?
Using one of the latest CM7 nightlies. The problems started after a few weeks of it working fine with the new ROM.
How old is your nook and is it one of the version 1 or version 2 releases?...I had a version 1 doing the exact same thing. Luckly I was still under Warranty and was able to get a replacement, which is the version that was released mid may of 2011 I think. And it had the 5gb data 1 gb media partition...its bwwn working fine and I'm running the cm 7.2 kang w/ mirage kernel.

Let it completely discharge (screen shuts off and Nook is non-responsive) and then charge it up fully. Any battery problems come after flashing and this method always fixes things.

Battery charge values

Hi all!
I've some strange problems with mt nexus 4 battery values.
Today i had 59% of battery and i plug it to the original charger. After 2 hours i saw the battery with 100% charge value. OK. Nothing wrong here. I rebooted the phone and after that i had 84% of battery.
This is happening almost every time i charge my nexus 4.
I had stock rom with franco.kernel updater. Now i have paranoid Android with The same kernel.
Any idea about this?

Have you been dirty flashing a lot?
your battery reading needs to be recalibrated.... Charge full than use until it shuts down...than charge again fully, at 100% reboot phone & connect to charge again.....
You also can try "BatteryRepair.apk" from market..most of the time it helps to recalibrate..just install, open & follow on screen instruction....

I had the same issue with my previous nexus 4. Did you ever get your screen/display changed? Or do you charge your phone overnight? Do you rely on USB charging a lot? If any of those answers is YES, its probable that your battery has gone bad (as mine had)
I don't think that's the solution, but give a try to this free app from the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=it
I always thought this problem was related to rom development but I'm not sure. It happened to me with CM11 at the very beginning in november, and then it just stopped. Since January I'm on slimkat, at first it didn't happen and then for a few weeks i noticed the same problem you have, now everything has been fine again for the last two weeks.

Just try avoiding the charge to 100%->reboot->charge to 100% again for a few days.
Don't let it discharge till 0%, connect the charge when you have 1%-4% left and let it charge till 100% with the phone on, and then use your phone normally.

Please go through this thread. A couple of other members (myself included) finally deduced that if you ever have your display changed you NEED to get your battery changed as well. Trust me on this, get your battery checked once. It WILL be bloated. Also, if upon restarting there is a break in the battery graph and there is a significant drop/rise in battery level, that is another indicator that your battery is going.

I've been reading that thread but for example, what happens to me it's nothing compared to the first topic of that thread. I only miss sometimes 10% after restart, sometimes 5%, sometimes nothing. From what i understand, in that thread most of users with battery problem had like 80% and after reboot they only had 2%, or 0%. Thats different i think, but i'm not expert on this subject
Anyway, installed the suggested app and calibrated the battery throw the app. For now i have this data (Paranoid Android Beta6+Franco.Kernel.Updater r201):

Try Battery Monitor Widget from the Market - you can see what current the phone is pulling, and if indeed full charge is reached. There are also calibration tools inside - the app calculates the real capacity of the battery, for example. If it's a long way from 2100mAh it would be a sign you need a new battery.
Though like everyone else, I think it´s a software problem. With previous Android phones I had to be careful calibrating, flashing etc. With the N4 I've had no such issues in the year I've had it. That app can help you sort out battery calibration though.
