Oppo mobiles have finally launched the Oppo Find 5 in India. Hope we get some Indian support for the Oppo Find 5 here at XDA developers.
The Oppo Find 5 that is to be launched in India will have the same specifications as the one launched worldwide.

The site seems sketchy and doesn't even have a proper contact us link. However , if cash on delivery option is available, then it might be fine, I guess?
But the site seems to have simply copied lots of elements from oppostyle.com?

Yeah , I was just reading about the Androidguruz. Seems to be a startup which will offer retail and services for around 42 china brands, in which case, we can hopefully get some service as well. But too early to say. I would say there is definitely a risk. [regarding repairs]

Related to their service? Wasn't able to find it. But, yeah the site design is crappy with no option to select the memory for the find 5 white version.
EDIT: So, apparently, they still have not started selling the phone. The white version not able to add to cart because memory option not available and for the midnight black version, it is saying currently not in stock. But, the shipping rate seems to be an amazing Rs 5, so seems really good overall, if it does turn out to have 3 months replacement warranty..
Anyway, lets update here, if any one of us finds anything new. I am very much interested in getting the phone, but may go for nexus 4 again if a 32gb version is announced.
I never thought this day would come where I would part so easily with my Nexus 4. Even with the announcement of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One I didn’t care too much about those devices. I love pure Android and how clean it runs. But there was something about the Oppo Find 5 that attracted me so much. Maybe it’s the fact that Oppo is doing something different and really trying to make software for the consumers and not something gimmicky. I’ve never been a fan of Android skins like Sense, Motoblur and Touchwiz, but Oppo isn’t just another skin, It’s more like a custom ROM on steroids. The reason I say this is because as of now they are the only Android phone manufacturer that update their firmware twice a month with features requested by the users. Let’s face it, update’s matter. When you ask people why they buy a Nexus device one of the top 3 reasons is “It get’s updates”. Similar to how Cyanogenmod implements features, Oppo does the same and since it’s GPL Compliant, with its kernel source code released. This means developers from all over the world can work together and make the Find 5 even better. :good:
They are still building up their site.
Same replies you see from UMI X2 people.
Let's wait for a week or so

Oh well. Anyway got nexus 4 again, so won't be joining the oppo crowd.sounds too much of a risk to buy it without warranty when you have nexus 4 launching in India at a lower price than this.( yes screen is better, others however I don't think there is a huge difference)

Well... its official... The 2nd Generation Nexus 7 DOES NOT have a Secure Element so Google Wallet will NEVER work on it.
I do understand that Wallet was not the most widely used tool but for those who have become reliant on Wallet, this news sucks.

Well the post specifically stated the Google Edition of the HTC One, which that plus the capability of LTE for the new N7 leads me to believe this was not Google's choice. This sounds like a slam to the face from the US carriers to force ISIS in order to use the devices on their networks. Why else would this feature not exist in a newly capable LTE device when it was present in the previous generation device?
Man I hate the US cellular companies. Forcing their agendas and profits on device manufacturers.

Nothing fishy about anything. Whether you're "pretty sure" about anything is not the point. I'd rather take the word of the Director of Product Management. And besides the reason being given is that the Nexus 7 2013 is missing a secure element, which might have been omitted due to a myriad of reasons (cost, maybe?). We wait and see if more info develops.

Dupe.
I remember reading recently about a compromise of the secure element chip used in the vast majority of commercial electronics and how this was bad because there was essentially only one vendor. I'll see if I can find the link when I get home.
Maybe this had something to do with the decision? Or maybe someone decided in their infinite wisdom that a 7" device is simply awkward to use to pay?
I use wallet on my N4 all the time but only once on my N7 (2012)...

So the N7v2 has NFC but no secure element. According to the press information for ISIS, the ISIS carrier SIMs include a secure element. So would it be possible to use ISIS on a N7v2?

There are already released units. As is common, grey market was the first to release followed by iTech and Datablitz although Datablitz is the only one right now that offers official Asus warranty among the brick-and-mortar stores. Grey market units are purportedly having official Asus warranty as well.
*Note, please don't forget to use English as this is an international forum even though this thread is specifically for discussion for the benefit of Filipinos, it still is open to people of other nationalities who might be staying in the Philippines and need local information.

I'm getting mine next week but I am extremely hesitant because of all the reported out of the box issues. Multi - touch and GPS issues are software related right? What about wifi issues? Random reboot issues?
I owned the original n7 and it was horrible! It was lagging everywhere plus it had weak wifi reception.
Does the n7 2013 have international warranty and will asus philippines honor it?
ordered from B&H in nyc, shipped to cali, then a relative will be bringing it over here next week. $269 no tax, free shipping. great deal i just hope I got one that works flawlessly!
Wifi multi touch and gps is working fine..my concern is about random reboot..been experiencing it since out of the box aug.15..i have tried safeboot it doesnt help..i also receive an update but hesistant to install it coz some users reported after install they start to suffer issues on multi touch..im still on jwr66n...by the way it been 4 days now with no reboots after i factory reset..after initial reboot i set do not auto update at playstore settings..i manually update you tube app coz its kinda cool.

The N7 2013 should address the weakness of the previous N7 since it's now using a Qualcomm processor which, in my opinion, is better than Tegra. (Tegra only shines in the GPU department since that's what NVidia does ) As for the issues, when I was still on stock I didn't experience any of those and I'm one of those people who don't worry about things like that unless it happens to me. It's just that people who have problems will usually post it online while people who don't won't even bother mentioning it which is why you'll find more problems being reported than those that have no issue.
As for the random reboot issue, do you know how to get kmsgs? If you do, can you pastebin it and message me the link since I want to know also if it's a hardware or software issue.
As for the warranty, that's what I'm not sure about. I heard from someone that ASUS Philippines will be honoring the N7 2013's international warranty but don't quote me on that one.

Refer to my comment above. Just trust your device.
Haven't had a single reboot since I factory reset 4 days ago
Can I still get kmsgs from terminal emulator of my last reboot?
I'm new about this thing but willing to learn...
And about trusting my device..do you mean I should install my OTA.

If you factory reset and hasn't experienced the reboot, don't worry about getting the kmsg. Might just be an app conflict or something. Also, you should install the OTA then perform a factory reset. I only trust OTAs after a factory reset. Too many problems come from OTAs performing an improper upgrade of the currently installed apps' data. If you encounter problems with it after the OTA and factory reset, then time to claim warranty as your device just betrayed you. Joking aside though, if you encounter problems after the OTA, it's better to claim warranty after so you can get a better replacement now rather than having to upgrade to the KitKat version in a few months and then having errors then.

Just use Google Translate if you're having difficulty. This is an international forum so it's frowned upon to speak in a local language. Also, it's a rule and might get you reprimanded if you're reported to a moderator or a moderator just happens to be browsing this thread. If you experience a reboot or any problem, do a factory reset. After, if you still experience it, claim warranty since I would reason that that's already a hardware problem. Also forward me the last_kmsg if you can. If you're not familiar, just Google it as there are plenty of guides out there and I'm not too keen in replicating what I consider an already extremely redundant information. :silly:

So you are conceding that it is hardware related? I wish they charged an extra 50 dollars and made better quality control My previous experience with my first nexus was utterly disappointing. I really hope I don't get a lemon this time around.
Is the wifi issue really there or grossly exaggerated?

The reboot thing could be hardware related. The others could also be hardware related but, from what I've read so far, it could just be fixed through software. I'm more concerned that the reboot could be memory related so it would be very difficult to address via software.

how's the development support so far? anyone here running mod already?
Looks like S5 will have locked bootloader on T-Mobile..
So that means people on AT&T are screwed because
1. No Dev edition
2. Can't Use T-Mobile edition on AT&T anymore.
Only Sprint S5 will have unlocked bootloader.
In a sense this a good thing because it will bring more devs to the scene from T-Mobile's section and we can finally crack this open.

I give up on Samsung. My next phone is not Samsung. Im sick of these damn locked bootloaders.
I hear you. Its the carriers that are being dicks. Looks likes Safestrap is going to be mainstream @Hashcode got long hours ahead of him
The only way we can make them listen is not to buy them. Buy an international unlocked edition. But the majority of people have no interest in rooting and roming. I don't blame them due to warranty claims for bricked devices, but they should have something like htc dev where you unlock it you own it unless it's something unrelated to rooting. That is acceptable to me.

Safestrap is fine for me. It's a custom recovery as far as I'm concerned. I don't use the extra rom slots, just the stock one so it works for me the same as having an unlocked bootloader. I never usually flashed too many kernels always so that doesn't bother me. We can do backups restores and flash roms. What more could you want?

Well I wouldn't even have rooted or installed a custom rom had they released a phone with a broken GPS that they couldn't or wouldn't fix. Ridiculous. Custom rom fixed it.

Yeah, sucks big time. I guess we need to change from Samsung to another brand, my Note 3 is a beautiful and powerful device the only thing that is keeping the leash is the locked bootloader. I'm considering to go with a Nexus or Sony smartphone, I love how I'm able to do whatever I want with my Nexus 7 2013.
If its similar to the S4, you could also look into the Canadian carriers' S5 and Note 3/4. The i337m (m for Canada and some Latin countries) had an unlocked bootloader. It was the same exact device as AT&T's just with an unlocked bootloader and ever SLOWER official ROM updates.

Yeah, what i love about my note 3 and even my old S4 was the ability to use the ir emitter to control my tv, etc. and well some other cool features like the airview, the s-note, etc.
They should make a dev edition of the phone with multi-carrier support like a (T-mobile/ATT GSM) or a (Verizon/Sprint CDMA) version. In that way they keep the people and devs happy.
I done with Samsung had a cappy,infuse,s3,now n3. I have been looking for a new device for a few months, can not stand the locked bootloader crap.
Nexus devices need bigger screens and better cameras if they fix that I would be happy as a clam.
Till then I will wait for something with a nice screen, camera, and unlocked BL!!!!!!

I wish Carriers here in US were selling Sony's flagship devices.
And also Nokia shoot themselves in foot by going with WP.... If they would've went with Android, they could've been the biggest rival for sammy.
Really what difference does an unlocked boot loader make? I'll gladly trade camera, screen, everything if it means no flashing crap AOKP Roms.

I don't think the carriers care about XDAers. We are such a small portion of the end users, but bricked devices from this forum are probably responsible for a significant portion of the returns.

I'm alright with it, simply because I use my S pen. And the Samsung camera, other TW apps. If I wanted AOSP I'd get the nexus 5.

Not too impressive, I've seen people here hit close to that on stock unrooted. I've gone 2.5 days with 8 hours screen time, so custom kernel doesn't seem to make that much of a difference here.

Hi, yes but these are only available to order during occasional flash sales which only run for a few hours. I managed to order one on 19th February for delivery in March. Haven't received it yet although the payment was taken from my credit card on the same day it was ordered! So don't order one if you need it immediately!
And there'll by the MX4 soon.

Do you know it this version of ubuntu will work as desktop when it's conected to a monitor or a dock?
@akira.ons No, it won't. They are still working on that part of the software.

Yes, screen mirroring has been done before. However, having a fully-fledged deskop OS on your phone hasn't been achieved by anyone yet.

Actually it has a hdmi and loads a small debian based webtop and a window to see the original phone screen to male calls and text. They also sell a laptop dock so you have the feel of a normal computer, So ill have to disagree with you there,
Its an atrix 4g Motorola
@JustSueMe That's cool, indeed! However, it's still not the same OS powering both modes.

I read on BQ's Twitter account that they started shipping Ubuntu phones this week, I didnt receive email notification that mine is shipped yet, I am hoping they will ship mine soon, they are probably shipping those sold in the first flash sale now, then the second etc, I bought mine in third but they said buyers will receive their phones in March so I am holding them to that lol.
@Jack Harper They don't seem to send them out ordered by the number of the flash sale. Someone who bought one in the third flash sale posted on Google Plus that he has already received his phone. So there's hope for you.

I emailed them and all they tell me is shipping will start in 2nd half of march and refuse to give me a date.
I hope the next Ubuntu phone gets sent out on day ordered via another company.
Since when is the 18th not in the 2nd half of march and why is shipping date on a product I paid for such a massive secret?

Then they are being sent randomly, yeah hoping is the only thing I can do now as they dont give out any estimates as when the phone is shipped, still I am holding them to the promise that devices will be received by the buyers in March. I saw your Forum Browser application in the Ubuntu Touch store, your application is going to be one of the first I will install I noticed you also have Cantata player in the store, does it allow folder browsing? I have a few folders on my phone with music randomly collected from many sources and many songs dont have any tags, that makes a mess in players that sort music via tags, having a player that can browse folders would be awesome.

Because they probably dont know, it seems they already shipped some phones from the third sale so that could mean they ship them randomly, and if that is the case then they cant know the date. Still they did say that buyers will receive their devices in March, I am holding them to that, if I receive my phone during March I am ok with that as that is what was promised.
I got the phone today :victory:
I noticed one thing that Ubuntu Touch desperately needs and that is a music player with folder browsing, Music makes such a mess with my music collection as not all of it is 100% accurately tagged, if someone makes a music player with folder browsing I am so paying for it or donating, I cant stand the mess tagged based players create with my music
Finally! I know many from the Philippines (including me) are waiting for it to be released. Some are actually very excited and cant afford to wait making them buy online with the cost of additional shipping fee & no manufacturer's warranty.. But now, just a few more wait until the official release of Zenfone2.
Mark the date in your calendar: May 16, 2015.

Let's have a bigger community and let's help each other out.
nice i got the 550ml which will never be available in the philippines no asus warranty support... anyway planning to upgrade to 4gb if asus comes
Nice to hear this, thanks for the info. I have a few friends that have fallen in love with the Asus Zenfone after playing with mine. They want to purchase this phone with a warranty.
I put my Note 4 to rest for a while until Samsung releases Lollipop 5.01 (5.0 SUCKS so bad, its not usable). Loving Asus's UI! Very vanilla and smooth
I was in a shop in Greenhill's yesterday who is an Authorized ASUS reseller and they confirmed May 15th (I am sure the date is actually the 16th). They pulled out a release document from Asus for the Philippines and the document showed this store will receive the 2.3 ghz 4gig ram / 32 gig version and the 1.8ghz 4gig ram / 32 gig version (Silver, Black and Red). The document did say that NO 64 gig versions will be sold by that store. Unfortunately I forget the name of the store, it was in V Mall. I will try to get the name next time I go back. It looks like they will get the WW (World Wide) model as I had the sales lady call and confirm the model version.
I do know Widget City in Malate is selling the 1.8 Ghz 4 gig ram / 32gig version with a 3 day replacement and a 1 year warranty. They get their inventory from Singapore which makes it the WW version (World Wide).
The version I purchased was off Lazada and it is the 2.3 ghz 64 GIG model with the TW mark (Taiwan). I only purchased it from there because they take American Express and my platinum card will replace the phone for up to 3 months if I drop it, lose it or it gets stolen (no questions asked). Also Amex gives you the manufactures warranty + extra time no matter where the warranty is from EVEN if its not honored by the manufacture. Last but not least, IF I don't want it, I have 90 days to return it. Even if the seller does not honor a return policy, AMEX will. Gotta love US based credit cards!

There's no official announcement on which variants will be released in PH. It'll all depend on their marketing strategy. Although I confirmed w/ Asus PH that there will be units ready to be bought from the launching site.

Yeah, pretty dismal batyery life. This is the best I got with heavy use. With ny Nexus 5, I can only get 3 hours with the same use. But I expect better. Not using the phone much, I can only squeeze out 12 hours with 2 hours SOT.

Hey guys. Need some help. Wanna try to flash stock on my ZE551ML. My current build is v2.20.40.90. Can I install that same version? I got my drivers using this guide

Is that alright? But I used the 15-second adb installer.
I already have the full firmware of the above but can't go through recovery mode. It says error. Why is that? It's my first time to do this. Hope someone will reply. Thanks
