I got my S4 last week and am quite new to all this. I've roamed the forums and the information about rooting the S4 seems confusing. First of all, there was a way to root the S4 using motochopper am I right? I'm wondering if that's still relevant since the more popular solution seems to be Chainfire's CF-AutoRoot. Would using either one give me the same results?
All MDE and the before MDE firmwares can be rooted using CF root but the MDM,MDN and latter firmwares cant because of some security changes samsung made. I suggest you wait a couple of weeks or so.

Hey all. I'm sure this gets asked quite a good bit but I am looking for some information on the Note 3 and it's current status of rom/root abilities. I have an S4 at the moment so I am fairly saavy with Samsung hardware and procedure at this point. I am going to assume that Verizon pushed out a locked boot thus killing everyone's ability to install roms and TWRP. If this is true, is there a specific build I should be looking for wen I go to get my phone? Also, what does the SafeStrap scene look like on this device? Is it relatively stable?
I apologize for not looking more but I am at work and then immediately going to pickup my girlfriend and head over to get my phone. Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated.
I bought my Note 3 about a week ago and it came with the latest firmware. I was able to very easy root with Kingo and install safestrap which is very much stable BTW.

After you install safestrap be sure to flash chainfires supersu 1.85 in recovery to rid the kingo Supersu app that kingo puts on your phone. Enjoy that Note 3 bro
good luck!
It will most likely come with the MJE firmware which is the latest. Root with Kingo and then flash chainfires SU and install Safestrap. There is a ton of write ups on the forums about the procedure. I came to the Note 3 from the S4 as well and it's all very similar.

My exact scenario as well, my Note 3 came with THe latest firmware right before MJE, I forget, but regardless neither version could be rooted with Root De La Vega. I used Kingo, my knox is still 00x00 and I have safestrap installed and running the Hyperdrive ROM. If you are worried about the superuser app that kingo installs you will probably be prompted to update it anyway which will replace it with the play store version. I'm not sure why you'd be concerned, but I've seen some chatter about replacing the superuser app.

I have an all incusive thread for start to finish rooting of the N3 in my sig. You can read through it and see the steps. If you get a Note 3 you WON'T be disappointed!
Safestrapp has bypassed the locked bootloader and offers the added awesomeness of being able to boot directly into different roms just waiting to be used. Ingenious and very easy.
Take the N3 plunge, you won't be sorry
It's been many years since I've looked in to rooting. Last phone I was big in to messing with was my Droid 2. I just picked up a Note 3 from Verizon yesterday. I've been doing a bunch of research about the whole KNOX thing. Seems like there are a few ways around it.
After doing a bunch of searching I can't seem to fine a.jar/md5 file to use with ODIN specifically for the N900V. Would it be just the same standard N900 file?
Running 4.3 Jellybean, Build # JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE
I've done some searching but am not confident in the files I've been finding yet. For some reason I think they are for a different build.
Please point me in the right direction. Thanks

Well i ended up rooting it with Kingo. The root worked just fine. I'm trying to figure out how to do a recovery though and apparently my KNOX tripped and everytime I try to load into a custom recovery to backup it tells me to bring it back to a Verizon Store due to unapproved software lol.
Use safe strap for custom recovery. Only drawback is you can not flash any custom kernels but roms with stock kernel flash great.

You cannot flash a custom recovery with a locked bootloader which we cannot do at this time.

I'm considering buying a used Sprint Galaxy S4 and I'd like to use it on pageplus. Is this possible, an is there a step by step guide to flashing to pageplus? I have flashed phones before but never an LTE phone. I did some searching on these forums and can't seem to find the info I need but I'm mostly interested if it's possible or not. Thanks in advance.
You might be able to use this one.

It is possible to have a Sprint S4 on PagePlus. I am currently using one with MK2 (haven't updated yet because of all the complaints). I had mine remotely flashed by Viper32 so if you have questions he may be able to help.
hello everyone this is my first post. I've done all my google searching and like almost no one else is looking for an answer to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a root to the TAB 4 Att\lte version. That's the SM-T537AYKAATT. I tried kingo of root to no avail. Next on my list is motochopper....I am familiar with adb and can provide all of the necessary files needed for the research and development of said root. Thank you for any time and/or effort that gets put into this.
Have you looked into chainfire auto root?

ATT locks their bootloaders....cfauto root wont work on locked bootloaders
Then he may be in the same boat as the AT&T Galaxy S5... No root

Towelroot fixes it up no prob
I just found towelroot roots the 4.4.2 att tab 4 10.1....
That's great news

So I just got a 5.0 Lollipop SM-G900A, Baseband G900AUCU4B0F3 warranty replacement for my old rooted 4.4.2 SM-G900A AT&T S5.
I want to get root back. I don't care about warranty since I'm technically out of warranty now and they replaced my phone past warranty (I was really nice to the friendly female CSR I got on the phone). I believe my options are:
Live without root
downgrade to 4.4.2 and root with towelroot without tripping knox
root 5.0 but trip knox
I'd like to do number 3, but I don't know what the best method is at this point. I haven't kept up on any developments in root area since I rooted my 4.4.2 and was supremely happy with it ever since. I know that flashing an already rooted ROM is one of the options but honestly I've gone down the custom ROMs road before on previous phones and I know if I start that again I'll be going through tons of ROMs looking for the one I like best and I've been so happy with rooted vanilla stock that I don't want to take the time to go down that path right now if I can help it. Is there a way to root 5.0 directly if you don't care about Knox/warranty?
I fully realize that I could RTFF and figure out what my answer is but I'm hoping someone who is current will take pity on me and point me in the right direction and cut my RTFF down from hours to minutes. TIA for any help.

I don't believe it's possible to root 0F3 at this time. Sorry bro...
If root is achieved once again, I would highly recommend sticking to Muniz_ri's rooted stock roms which can be found in the "General" section of each carrier-specific S5 Thread, then running his debloat script (and installing google now launcher) to have a very clean android.
Has there been any updates on this? the "SRSroot" site seems sketchy. Google is not showing me results that I want to hear.
