Hi guys,
I am a relative newb to xda and rooting etc and have a query that hopefully someone can help me with. I have flashed a pre rooted mf8 rom via odin and would now like to add the loud volume mod to my s4 i9505! As far as I understand the mod has to be flashed via custom recovery. I still have stock recovery on my s4 and I am not sure on how to flash a custom recovery or which one I should use. Apologies if this is the wrong thread and thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
Look HERE
Choose one of the 4 recoveries available .
Installation instructions are on the thread.
as far as i know there are currently 3 custom recoverys available.
im using philz touch recovery.
download newest version as .tar.md5, put it in odin as pda, and flash it just like you did with the pre rooted rom.

Recovery is not seandroid enforcing
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
nothing else.
im posting here cause i dont have permission to post into the other thread.

Are you sure you have the right files ? For the n9005 ? (If that is your phone)
Are you on 4.3 or 4.4.2 ?

NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.
this? yes i tried it but it still does not boot into recovery, doesnt even boot loop just gets stuck in the screen i mentioned earlier
Now if i boot into download mode this is my screen

Write protection: Enable ... is that something that can be a reason for this? :silly:
And what does Odin say ? If it says pass, you should do the "pull out battery and manually boot into recovery" and it should work. I still think you have the wrong file, maybe for 4.4.2 ? Maybe a bad download, try again.

Tell me, can I flash xnote rom with cf root?

Lol, 4.3 or 4.4.2 ?
You could, but you'll need a custom recovery. But more I won't tell you. Spoon feeding is bad. :banghead:
And the fact, that you didn't see the link for the 4.3 file, wich was posted in the same sentence as the 4.4 link, I think you should really do some reading.
Every rom has its installation instructions written in the thread.

Yes sorry about that. I just need guidance I can't find a recovery via Cwm for instance and the x note thread doesn't seem to have an install guide , I just want a kit kat based rom for my note and the last time I flashed a recovery+rom it was a galaxy gio and that was done via sd card and 2 zip files hehe

See, that's why I hate this. How can you say it doesn't have a guide on how to install it, if it clearly does. My first custom rom, coming from 4.3 to 4.4 was xnote. And guess what, i flashed it with the help of the instructions posted on the site, and a bit of Google search too. Why do i even bother, I'm over and out. Maybe someone else will spoon feed you.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here and new to rooting devices. I recently just rooted my Samsung Galaxy S 4 SGH-1337 (At&t) with the new "TowelRoot" and then using Super SU to finish the root. I has a question when it came to installing the recovery Philz Touch. I have the 4 most recent versions of PT and using Odin v3.09 and v3.07 I am still unable to correctly install the recovery. When I try starting the process I get a "Leave CS" in the bottom left of the Odin window, and when I start the process fails? Can anyone help me out and assist me? This is super annoying and I would love to figure it out soon. Thank you in advance
This is not the forum for the at&t. You are in the wrong section.

1. You will come back to "OFFICIAL" if you didn't flash any CUSTOM RECOVERY.
2. You will have to install Triangle Away if you flash a CUSTOM RECOVERY for reflash your binary counter (anyway I don't know if your device is supported).

Hello. I recently ordered a galaxy s4 i9505 from ebay and i got it. I think its an unlocked at&t phone cause it has al&t ringtones. It came with android 4.3 and i wanted to update into kitkat. Though there is an option called software update when i go there it just tell me that the device is up to date. I cant update through kies too. If i flash it through odin will it cause any harmfull issue?

Before doing anything else you should go into download mode to see if yours is an International S4 or an AT&T one!

or else u can just flash the official rom downloaded from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/
extract the rar of the downloaded stock recovery and you will get a tar.md5 file
now flash it via odin in download mode.
and now you have a official status.

Flash back to a stock ROM before you do anything else
google search for sammobile and go to site and search for N910G
After that read and learn which ROMs are compatible with you phone before you start flashing anything again.
The ROMs for your model of phone are in the Snapdragon section. Most of them have the model number that the ROM will work on in the subject line.
