My nexus one became laggy recently with slow response to key depressions when typing emails and texts, changing between apps. Wiped the device clean and started again and all is well again.
Have you experienced this behavior on your N1? And if so is there an app or a diagnostic tool that we tell me whats going on? As now i have to reconfig it. Thanks.

probably something you recently installed slowing it down.

System Panel will show if there's a particular application that's using CPU... Is the phone getting warm often or staying warm? That's the obvious indication the CPU is spinning..
I don't recall it getting warm. Well it's better now. I'll check the processes running next time it starts being laggy. Thanks for the tips.

Do you have setcpu or a OC kernal by any chance?
I am having this happen also... I have had to remove my battery three times today to reboot the phone.
I have set CPU installed, is that a bad idea?
I'm rooted with just the stock OS, no mods at all and my phone will randomly reboot every two or three days.

Mine has the new rom the leaked one and does this so often like after every 2-3 songs. Did it with the stock rom too.

No, I'm rooted with straight stock. No set CPU or anything of that nature. But like I said even then ill get complete freezes and then a reboot. Or occasionally ill attempt to open an app and the phone will reboot!!

did you wipe your SD cards when you flashed the new rom? I don't have this behavior but I did have FC's and such because of some files on the SD. I have NONE of this behavior. Something is wrong for you, nothing is wrong with JI2 and freezing/rebooting.

I used to have this problem all the time too whenever I tried to use the gps, but since I've applied the leaked update that problem has gone away. But it seems like you're experiencing the issue at more random times. Have you noticed any particular pattern? For example, whenever you try to play music in the background and read a website at the same time.

Yup mine is bone stock not Rooted and it will lock up just siting there GPS, wireless and Bluetooth off in a very good signal area.
Same here on both roms. I thought the lag fix was causing the freeze. But now im stock jit2 and root.
Had the same with gps and maps with old firmware.

NO set cpu or anything
I haven't had this issue happen since I applied the flashable gps fix. Maybe it was an issue with an app that wanted to use GPS running in the background?
This has happened to me several times while booting gps and only recently started happening while playing pandora, but not as frequent as while using the gps...not rooted

Mine has only frozen up once and it was at the end of a call screen turned off. I hit power and went to go unlock and it turned off again.. Would not turn back on but I know the phone was still on since I had apmobile enabled and it was still transmitting wifi connection. Oh I was using eugene's FrankenTwiz (underclocked to 400mhz)when it happened but same thing happened to my girlfriend and she had hybrid r3. Other than phone runs fine.
Ive had some odd reboots where I dont get a shutdown or boot animation or sounds, just freezes, goes black, keys light up, searching for signal boot process. Yesterday in maps trying to troubleshoot my gps. Stock rom, rooted, Ryan's lagfix.
Vibrant vibrating nicely now,Kthx!
Have the phone replaced. I had a phone that would randomly freeze and/or reboot. Nothing I did would fix it.
I talked to a T-mobile worker who had the same issue with one of the early demo-phones Samsung loaned to him. They just replaced his without every saying what the problem was.
I've been having this happen a lot lately myself, it happened to me before on stock ROM due to SetCPU, but now on the leaked ROM. I did not clean the SD card (internal or external), so will give that a shot when I have some time to copy files on/off the SD cards (one reason to dislike the internal SD is that I have to mount it to copy the files, ergh).
Has this happened to anyone? Just started happening today for me after I flashed factory ROM for the second time. Do you think it's the device or software issue?

My phone has rebooted twice and that is the only widget I'm using. I'm on rooted stock rom. A few other people said it was that app that caused the Nexus 7 to reboot so I'm guessing it's the same reason for our phone. I haven't used the widget for 3 days now and no rebooting since.
Overheating?
I had been watching Netfilx on my Nexus 4 using mobile data and my phone just restarted by itself. I was also charging it at the time, after it reset, I checked the temp. and it was at 102 f. I'm not sure why this happened, but it is the second time while I was using Netfilx, I didn't check the temp the first time... I'm starting to get worried, is it just me? Is it just because the phone is doing too much? Am I alone in this?
OK! Yesterday I use the GPS maps, drive 4 hour trip everything good! On my way back the phone boot up by itself... Between yesterday and now the phone boot up couple more times... Why did that? And how can I fix it please!!!

You said your phone shuts off after hard use, and you said it is really hot when it shuts down. This sounds like a hardware problem. When the processor gets too hot, the device kills power to protect it from frying. Almost every computer has a similar last-resort power-off feature to protect its hardware.
Now the real question: What is making the device overheat? Most likely this is a hardware problem, but there is a remote possibility that the problem could be a rouge app.
A factory reset will remove the apps you installed. If there is an app running an infinite loop in the background, a factory reset might fix the problem. (I remember you said you are running stock without root, so there are no firmware issues. The only possible software issues are with your apps.)
I am sorry to say that you might have a defective board.

But why start doing that after a month of using it? The only new I did was using the maps app for more than 4hours... A friend toll me to clear cache on map apps...

If the problem really is hardware, it was a defect that made it past quality control. It's the same reason why a new hard drive might fail after a week of usage--infant mortality. Infant mortality is quite rare, but it does happen nevertheless.
Fortunately, Google's replacement procedure is quite nice compared to most other companies. If Google sends you a replacement, you can keep your existing phone until the replacement arrives. This way, you are not left without a phone temporarily.
Update! Did a factory reset and root it and it's good now! Looks like an app was causing the rebooting... Thanks for the help!

I don't even have to be doing anything heavy very litght stuff like listening to music or even having the screen on will make my phone run up to 40c or 105f, this has never happened in the past because in the past my phone mostly ran below 31c.

thats not hot. human body temp is 37C, 98.6F. is it warmer around you now then it was before?
It may be caused by the weather. Summer is coming if you live in the northern hemisphere.
I have only experienced the Nexus getting extremely hot when playing certain games that try to establish a constant connection to facebook.
Other than that no heat issues.

I live in Illinois not to far from Chicago and it just hit 90 degrees F a few days ago so its a possibility. But still on these cool nights it gets hot just this morning my phone was at 26c and after sending this message its already past 32c.
Another question is what temps are yall getting after light use with your phones?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If I browse on websites for too long on my N4, it gets hot in the upper left corner of the phone. I'm in Canada and it's not exactly hot here.
In in the UK. Sat outside with light usage and running at 28°C.
Indoors is normal for me to see 32-40° with screen on.
Unless gaming I wouldnt be concerned with battery temps below 45°
