Downloading do not turn off target - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wife has just turned on her s4 and been greeted with the little android man and a "downloading do not turn off target". WE haven't rooted or installed any mods ... I am very new to the world of android so not seen this before. Any ideas? should i just reboot or will that cause damage.

Hi,
You are in "Download mode".
Pull the battery, wait 5 minutes, put it back in, and boot up as normal.
For future reference,to get into download mode:
Turn OFF your phone, Press&Hold POWER+HOME+VOLUME_DOWN buttons until phone boot into Download/Odin Mode

Just reboot and dont hold any buttons down and it should reboot ok.
If not then u can either flash a stock rom using odin or return to shop for exchange.

Tab 2 Cyanogen MOD 9 Problems.

Hello XDA.
First of all: Yes, This is my first post.
Second of all: Yes, I did Google this problem and havent found anything that works.
I installed Cyanogen Mod 9 on my Galaxy Tab2. After it had been installed i Rebooted it. It starts and shows the "Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" Screen and The Cyanogen Robot shows up. After that nothing happens. When i try to turn it off, it just reboots and the same thing happends. I cant enter Recovery mode or Download mode, And the only way to turn it off is by letting the Power Run out. I have no idea on how to fix this, So you might help. What i want to do:
1. Return to stock ROM
2. Be happy that i didnt brick my Tab 2.
3.???????
4.Profit.
If you need mode info/Pics/video i can Write/Capture/Record it for you.
Hope you guys can help!

Does your PC recognize the tab?
My PC won't recognize the Tab. Its working now thanks to my mom, she pressed all buttons she could find and BOOM. Clockwork recovery.

Thank god for mums though ay!!

Well first she started the tab, whitout knowing what Cyanogen was. So she yelled at me "JOOOOHAAAN WHEN I START THE TAB THERE'S A EVIL ROBOT THERE!!!" I replied "Yes, its a evil robot."
Then I want upstairs to google some more about this. 5 minutes later she says "JOOOOHAAAAN THERES A GOOD ROBOT HERE!!!", So I ran downstairs and she had pressed all the buttons in a strange way so she had entered Clockwork mod . Then I just wiped everything and restored from backup.
Its a good robot, for sure.

lg nexus 4 stuck on nexus logo after factory reset

Hi guys. My nexus 4 is rooted. Everything was perfect. I just wanted to do a fresh start. I did factory reset. Then it rebooted. Came to language selection. I selected English and than suddenly screen was black and nothing happened. I restarted again and it stuck on nexus logo. I did downloaded root toolkit 1.63 and it found my model and its selected 4.2.2 automatically. Then it downloaded stock image file and said my device adb error saying need to select USB debugging mode. I can't cause its stuck. Now about the rom it was liquidsmooth rom. Please help me how to go back to stock android 4.2.2. Thanks.

sorry, but for the stock img flash isn't needed just the bootloader mod? The deb mod is useless for this!
Throw it in the trash.
dont use a toolkit, they can create more issues than they are worth. boot into the bootloader, then flash the stock image via fastboot. thats all.
Thanks a lot. I sold it. My bad. Dn wanna use custom rom again.

I was trying to root my Galaxy Note 3, KitKat, SM-N900T with Odin 3.9. Everything went fine and I got the PASS! message. I disconnect the phone and I expected the automatic booting. That never happened. The screen started to flash the RECOVERING ROOTING (blue), RECOVERING IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING (red) and SET WARRANTY BIT : RECOVERY(yellow). Nothing that I did after that worked to get rid of those messages. I wonder if my new phone is bricked now or if I have a chance of recover it. Taking the battery out and putting in again plus holding all the buttons doesn't stop the messages from flashing. Please help!

Thank you for the suggestion but no idea how to do it with a phone stuck in the booting screen. Any help on how to get rid of it? Once that is done then I can proceed with your steps.
Take the battery out, put back in (dont turn back on)and hold volume up, home and power button. It'll take you into download mode.
Then flash your stock ROM via Odin

I tried that many times. It doesn't take me to the download mode but again to the screen I mentioned. Frustrating!..
It just keeps bootlooping you mean?
Keep trying to get into download mode, might be that you're catching the power button first and powering the phone back on.
Can you get into recovery ? Volume down and power/home button.
You should be able to get to one of them at least

Try this.
Remove and put battery back in, don't power on.
Hold Vol Down + Power + Home Button all at the same time until the warning message comes up then let go of the buttons. Finally press Vol Up only and you'll be in download mode. Connect phone to usb.
Flash this CF Auto root courtesy of Chainfire thru odin. Not sure if CF updated it for 4.4 but one poster said it worked for him on his Tmo.
Optionally flash a custom recovery cause you will have a stock recovery after rooting.
help me!
I had the same issue, I did as you said, but now I am stuck at RECOVERY BOOTING... RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING Set Warranty Bit: recovery.
(it never shows the orange pirate rooting guy)
however, against all judgement I tried it with the sm9005 instead of the sm900t file and it passed into the orange pirate root guy, however it gets stuck at the boot logo, do you guys have any Idea what could be wrong?

I've got myself stuck a couple times... both times I booted into download mode and selected reboot phone... it worked both times. As stated in another reply, make sure you pull the battery then replace and make sure you are holding home/vol/power... and make sure you get the home/vol buttons before you press and hold power.

It booted into download mode after all other methods failed, and flashed a custom recovery and said root succeeded, but then it tripped knox and when it tried to boot up it got the same error...
Booting into recovery...
Set warranty bit: Recovery
and then it would just boot loop from then on, unless I pulled the battery, held home+volumedown+power and pressed volume down to cancel and it would boot up normally but with no supersu installed or any root privileges, need to find out how to root this build
tried looking it up, can't find anything on it, please help.

HI there, guys! I just read the whole thread and maybe you can help me also! I'm facing a less critical, but similar problem.
I use Omega ROM (Android 4.3 yet) and just after a reboot my device is stuck at boot animation forever. The only thing I did before rebooting was freeze S Finder using Titanium Backup (after it was enabled again because Samsung updated it a few days ago) and move some apps to SD Card using Clean Master.
The critical part is that I can't enter Recovery Mode to try to solve wiping caches because my Reactivation Lock feature is enabled, so I can't access it.
Is there anything I can do except from flashing stock ROM over Omega itself? I can't lose my files on internal storage. There are pretty important ones! =/

Just reflash it, and make sure you have the right CWM recovery .6 iirc is the correct one.
Remember the term bricked means basically a paperweight. Won't turn on at all and basically a dud. If your phone turns on then it's not bricked even if it boot loops etc

Another way take out the battery, insert, turn on by direct boot to download mode, use Odin reflash the ROM with tick Phone Bootloader Updates.
Guys whenever I remove battery ,try hard reset or try to enter download mode..it starts in stuck boot screen (won't go any further) showing this...

Take the battery out to power off the device, then put it back in... Hold volume down + Home + Power to get to download mode. You are trying recovery mode which is different.
Seems you were right thx a lot
Friend was having this same issue, followed the thread and got it fixed, thanks everyone!

got a big problem

I let my sister use my phone and she did a factory reset. Now my phone boots up to the Samsung logo with custom at the bottom says booting into recovery at the top and then shuts off and does it all over again. I even tried holding up home and power. Is there anything I can do to fix it or am I screwed? It was rooted with 4.4.2
