Got my Nexus 10 today, unlocked, rooted, flashed PA without a hitch.
However, now I can't connect my Nexus as a media device to my computer (I want to copy my backups to it) and it worked perfectly fine before rooting my device.
On my Nexus it shows it;s connect, MTP is selected and everything, but it no longer pops up on my computer.
Any fix, theories.. anything for this?

I have a Nexus 7 (2012) that I am trying to get to connect to a mac so that I can transfer some files and a backup, but it does not seem to be a normal problem. I can use fastboot just fine, and have verified this with -fastboot reboot. When I connect my N7 to the computer while it is turned on and on the home screen, it begins to charge, show the status bar 'usb debugging', but does not actually connect with MTP using Android file transfer or otherwise. I have tried different cords, reinstalling Android file transfer, usb ports, and a Windows 7 laptop with drivers from Wugs toolkit installed, but still nothing. I am running a stock rooted 4.3 JWR66Y with unlocked bootloader and TWRP 2.6.3, and have even opened it up to make sure that the micro-usb is not loose; It isn't. If someone could help me with this that would be greatly appreciated, and if I left out some information please tell me
Thanks
P.S Just checked before posting and I apparently have stock recovery back on.
Greetings! I own a Nexus 7 from 2012, the Wi-Fi 16GB model. Two weeks ago, I found my tablet with its screen cracked, and, as I expected to be the case, the touchscreen has become completely unresponsive. My tablet has a pattern lock on it, so I cannot access my data to copy them on my desktop.
I have Android 4.4.2, my bootloader is unlocked and I'm rooted. I flashed clockwork 6.0.1.9 on it. Fastboot recognizes my device, I enter recovery mode successfully. All is fine, until I try to pull my files from the device, because for some reason I cannot access the sdcard mount.
Do you have any idea what I can do now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Get a USB mouse and plug it in then transfer your data to cloud storage like Google drive the other option if by chance you have left USB debugging on is to make a backup of user data via wugfresh nexus toolkit

I manually updated my wife's Nexus 4 to 5.0.
We've never rooted her phone, and up until the update had never unlocked her bootloader.
Everything is all set up perfectly, except, we can't transfer music to her phone.
She first tried on her Mac, didn't work. I just tried it on my Windows PC and once again no luck.
Both computer have recognized the Nexus 4, both can look at the files stored on the phone., but actually transferring info to the phone is being met with errors.
I have switched on and off usb debugging. I have accepted both computers as trusted ones for usb debugging. I have switched mtp mode on and off.
I am not sure what else there is to try, is anyone else having this issue?
EDIT:
I rebooted the phone, plugged it in again....and it worked....This wasn't the first time I have rebooted....
Sometimes I just don't know
I've had my 6P for about 2weeks, MTP has been working fine since the beginning.
However, yesterday when I connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, explorer does not show the Nexus 6P device.
Before anyone asks, yes, I have selected File Transfers under the drop down menu. I tried PTP too but it's the same problem.
I've tried almost everything, installing/uninstalling all sorts of drivers. ADB/Fastboot drivers work perfectly. Under device manager, my computer recognizes when my 6P is plugged in as "MTP USB Device", but is unable to get anymore information on it for some reason.
I then tried putting it in TWRP recovery, and surprisingly, my computer is able to recognize this as a new usb device "Nexus 6P", and I can access the internal storage without problems.
Rebooting back to system, the device is unrecognizable once again.
I first suspected it to be because I updated windows 10 yesterday, but the same problem exists on another PC.
Does anyone know what is going on here? I really don't wanna have to reboot to recovery just to transfer files over USB, and I know there are wireless transfer options but I want to fix this issue.
Thanks!

Hi!
My Nexus Player was rooted, but this was messed up by a recent OTA update (not the current 7.1.1, but the last one before that I guess), after which I factory reset it. I don't really remember if I tried connecting it to my PC then or do something else. A while later I tried rerooting with Nexus Root Toolkit, but there were some issues with the ADB drivers I think, it didn't maintain a connection with the computer during fastboot. It also kept resetting the USB default to charging (I chose MTP, but it just kept switching back by itself). So I took a break for a while and now it won't connect to my computer at all except for a brief moment while booting. All during this I've tried different cables and actually two more computers, but the issue persists. The bootloader is still unlocked and factory resets don't help. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?
Best regards,
Mikk
re enable debugging? The flip back to Charging from MTP is by design I think...as is the inability to shut off auto update. Google trying to save us from ourselves. Have you flashed twrp? I found the only way to see the player on the desktop was when booted in twrp. Otherwise, like you , it appeared the player wasn't connected. I do believe I was still connected as a fastboot device though.
I haven't bothered to re root as my SD card is supported and kodi installed from the play store removing any need to sideload or file explorer my way to install apps. I have found the 7.1.1. update to be solid/stable with no issues.
