Camera app on CM10? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

The one thing I miss the most from stock is the camera app. What can I do to get it working on CM10? i.e. what framework files do I need to copy?

Aosp Camera update.zip install?
(anyone know where i might be able to find this? I looked everywhere.)
Hi guys, Im currently on apex rom running blur camera but would like to install the aosp camera. I have the aosp camera .apk but I cant get it to install,
Im currently adding camera.apk to system/app folder and setting permissions, I get a second icon, but it still launcher the blur camera, Anyone have an update.zip or alternative way to install?.
Thanks!
I like the ASOP camera but it is missing some settings and IMO not as good as the Blur camera, so if you don't get it working you are not missing much. I've tried them both with the Liberty 1.5 toolbox and I went back to the Blur camera.

Stock Camera App?

Is there anyway I can get the stock, vanilla Gingerbread camera app and install it? Does anyone have it? Not a fan of the current one.

SlimKat Camera for AOSP Roms??

Love the camera in SlimKat RC2 but ROM is a bit buggy is there anyway to mod the camera in SlimKat RC2 to work on AOSP ROMs like ProBam/PA? I tried swopping out Camera2 apk's but that doesnt work... hope someone can assist thanks
reason: AOSP ROMs only have fullscreen aspect ratio not the normal 4.3 (unless you go down to 7MP) and the controls on the SlimKat camera are amazing.

Copy the camera 2 apk into system/app and change the permission to rw-r-r
I tested it and t worked on the latest cm 11 nightly. To change permissions use the cm file explorer and while its in system app hold down on it, hit properties, then permissions, then uncheck the second box in the second row.

Thanks, but tried exactly that, changed permissions and tried to install but keeps saying app not installed???, rebooted (cleared caches etc.) but same issue... any other ideas?
EDIT: Got it right! just copy the camera 2 apk from slimkat to sys/app it will ask to overwrite or cancel, select overwrite (your camera icon on homescreen is now missing), camera will not install if tapped, dont worry, Now go to Apps and clear data from Camera, and uninstall updates, then it will ask you if you want to install the factory version (which is now the slimkat version in sys/app) say yes and voila you now have the slimkat camera on your AOSP rom. its a much better camera app than the std AOSP one, the slimkat one has many more options and control incl the 13MP 4:3 aspect ratio...

Look in the themes and apps section. There is a modded LG camera that works on AOSP based roms. Not sure if it will work with CM but you can give it a shot

Samsung Camera on Lineage OS 16

Ay hello guys, is there any way to install Samsung's stock camera on AOSP? I'm at LOS 16.1, and native camera sucks. I've already installed GCam, but I want the stock app too

Yeah it's possible. It only needs the framework from stock rom, I used to use the stock camera app on custom roms in my Motorola

You are right, everything is possible but i think with Motorola fw is much easy because Motorola fw is near 100% stock android, Samsung experience (the framework) Is closed source and isn'possible to extract and used in aosp rom due the copyright of framework and the complexity of its integration in the android os, maybe i'm wrong but i never see a stock Samsung framework working on aosp rom in many years of Samsung device i used and modded
I remember back in the days of my S3. There was, for some time, a zip file floating around, which had the whole Samsung Camera, and it worked on AOSP.
I remember opening the zip before installing just out of curiosity and there were a whole bunch of files, not just an apk.
Some years later, I searched for it again, to no avail. It vanished from the face of the internet.
