To root or not to root?

I know most people are gonna tell me I should root my phone, but just hear me out really quickly...
I just got my Samsung Vibrant and I truly love the phone. It's a huge upgrade from my G1 in pretty much every way I can think of. I had my G1 rooted since like the second week I had it. I started off with JesusFreke's ROMs and then made my way to Cyanogen's ROMs with a few others that I tried here and there. I tried a bunch of different themes and I used quite a few root apps. I know my way around the rooted Android scene (or at least the rooted G1 scene) pretty well, but I'm not entirely sure if I want to root my Vibrant and here's why:
I'm afraid of voiding my warranty.
There's not really anything that I want to do with the phone that it can't already do (for example, it has plenty of space for apps without the need for A2SD).
I don't want to risk losing things like my text messages over and over again from switching to different ROMs (this happened to me quite a bit with my G1).
My G1's battery and overall performance were much much worse than my friends' G1s which were not rooted. I don't want this happening with my Vibrant.
Some people will think that these reasons are either unimportant or nonexistent, but I disagree. Again, before people start saying "these are the risks of rooting, deal with it or leave," I want to stress that I'm not a newbie at this.
Anyway, the main reason that I DO want to root the phone, regardless of the fact that I told myself I wouldn't, is because of all this junkware that T-Mobile preinstalled the phone. I didn't know the phone came with this crap (like GoGo, TeleNav GPS, Slacker, etc.). We all know that you can't remove this stuff without rooting...I've counted 11 apps that I want to remove from the phone because they're effectively advertisements and I don't want them. So before I make a decision, I'd like to ask some questions...
Would you root the phone if you were ME?
Is it possible to root the Vibrant, remove the apps, and then unroot it, thus leaving the apps gone?
If not ^^, then is it possible to root the Vibrant and keep the stock ROM? I really don't want any custom ROMs...I just want to remove the junkware.
I'm sorry if similar questions have been asked before, but I feel like my specific needs and concerns probably aren't shared by most of the XDA community so I created my own post...

actually I think what most are going to say is search the forum... There are several threads on the topic.
You don't have to add any roms if you're rooted. Yes you can remove the bloatware with root. Yes its easy to take your phone out of root, but with the bloatware missing its not hard to see that you have had root at one point.

I actually did root my phone just to remove the junkware....and then used titanium backup to remove what I didn't want....it took me 3 mins to root compared to the 15 mins it took for my nexus....i say its worth it....you can't even tell its rooted so I'm pretty sure the warehouse will never catch it if a exchange is ever needed.....you ll personally make up ur mind as soon as u see the cyanogen 2.2 rom come out hopefully that will be soon....I SAY GO FOR IT

I'm not bothering to root while I can still return the phone (1st 30 days) and not all the HW issues are know. Once a decent custom ROM is available I'll start looking into rooting, customer recovery, etc. The only thing I'm missing a bit from not being rooted is my Wifi tethering...

I'll probably end up doing root sooner or later with very few modifications (if any). I'll wait it out a bit, though. My questions have been answered.

Can I root my Note 3 AT&T?

The model number is N900A. I did get my phone through AT&T. I've heard that there are some serious problems rooting and installed roms etc through AT&T and Verizon. The Note 3 is my first Android device and I would have to say I'm in love with this phone. What I'm not in love with are all these apps and other nonsense running in my background. I hear rooting and installing different roms can solve this. I have used Clean Master from the app store to clear cache and free up RAM, but moments later these same apps open right back up. The Note 3 has 2.4GB of RAM available, correct? I haven't put much on this phone in the way of apps. I did put some music and bought one app to change the icons on my phone. When I check Clean Master, I'm always using between 1.6-1.8GB of RAM. Thinking to myself, "what is the purpose of Clean Master if all of these annoying apps just open themselves back up?"
Other thoughts would be:
How much RAM will I free up by rooting(assuming of course it's possible)and installing a fairly simple ROM to change the overall look and feel? I'm looking for simplicity. Just want something that works, doesn't eat a lot of my RAM, and isn't known for a lot of bugs/issues.
I'm hoping some of this information helps someone help me. I'm currently running 4.3. I've also researched some of the positives and negatives of rooting and installing roms. It seems worth it if I can free up some RAM and get rid of all these apps and such running in the background.

If you want to free up ram, you don't need to root, just update to 4.4.2 ( assuming it's already released by your carrier ). On the other hand having a different look and feel as well as gaining some performance, fits the bill of rooting and installing a custom rom. I don't see CF auto root supports rooting your phone but at&t users use what they call safestrap to bypass the locked bootloader and install custom roms. Have a read in the at&t section about it.

Just got a Note 3 from swappable to finally retire my Galaxy Nexus and I have a few questions.
I'm actually okay with the stock "ROM" if you will as I've substituted the Google Now launcher for Samsung launcher.
I just want to root the device in order to enable tethering and for the ability to remove the bloat ware Verizon applications. Is this something that's possible or would I have to get a completely new ROM? For the record also I'm on 4.4.2 so I'm not even sure it's rootable.
Any ROM recommendations or anything else would also be appreciated.

Eclipse ROM would be the way to go if you like the stock android look. Check out JasmineROM, I'm running it as my daily driver, it is a compete S5 port. Amazing battery and buttery smooth. Its in the development section.

If all you want to do is just get rid of bloat you can just root and use Titanium backup to get rid of it. If you wish to start using roms here's a quicklist I made to help someone which kinda gives you everything in one post....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55003142&postcount=3

Hi everyone. I used to have the Galaxy S5 with XtreStoLite_ROM which is super debloated. and I liked it so so much of course because it was super debloated. I bought LG G3, the htc m8, sony, nexus 6. and every time I go back to the Galaxy S5 because I want a super debloated phone. anyway I bought the Note 4, I really liked it and want to keep it but unfortunately, it has a lot of bloat even if I freeze or disable or delete the apps that I don't want using titanium or anything similar. I want to remove everything except the things that make the phone work probably. Can anyone help me how can I do that. I have the N910C. All the ROMs out there has also a lot of bloat. Please help me I really want to keep the phone and not lose money.

Like the title states, I know that I want to root my Note 4 (SM-N910G), I know that I want to do it to get rid of the crap that comes pre-installed. I also know I want to try and improve the battery life that has been decimated by updating to 5.0.1 and I also know I want access to app ops (this I want almost above all else).
What I want to know is, would I be better off searching for guides and such on loading custom roms? Or just rooting and staying with Lollipop?

i basically have same attitude as you. Rooting and enjoying Lollipop. Anyway, i rooted my N910F snap a few hours after i got it way back in October 2014 and have not looked back. I prefer to have control over my devices.... be it a pc /laptop or phone ! I am on lollipop and enjoying it. My device is "tuned"
good(according to me.. apart from one or 2 small "bugs"..eg. recent button lag etc) Battery usage is very good, very smooth overall etc. I have counted my " rooted apps " that have permission to run and its about 20 apps n all !
So overall my life, with devices is made much easier, with rooting and using apps like direct Data Toggle or Toggle Network apps (switching between LTE only or LTE /3G or 3G only)
So i would say for me rooting and enjoy Lollipop..!

I ended up rooting easily enough, enjoyed all the freedom that rooting provides. I ended up installing something I think (after I installed it) was a bit suspicious so now I have installed TWRP and will completely wipe it, install the stock firmware and root all over again.
