I've been playing with GT-I9505 for few days, and I feel like my Galaxy S4 has serious battery drain issue.
Its idle time is okay. I always turn on GPS to be able to use any location services like GPS tagging on photos or Google Now. I use auto brightness to reduce any battery drain.
The problem happens when I use internet. Whenever I use any internet services like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Chrome, etc, the battery goes down about 5% while holding and using internet for 5 to 15 minutes. I just felt this is wrong.
Another weird part is Google Maps. I never used Maps app today, but it sucks about 30% of battery. I assume it's because of Google Now's location services, but I still don't understand how Google Maps and Google Now is connected when I used GPS only few times during a day.
Anyone experiencing similar drain issue? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

GPS drains the battery quickly. This is common among all smartphones. Disable it unless you're ready to use it, or stay near a charger.

thanks for replies.
If you don't or use it without a lot of frequency maps, freeze it with Titanium Backup and defrost whenever you want to use..

[Q] Maps and battery

Hello people,
I will be going on holiday soon, now I am trying to get as much battery life out of the Nexus as possible. But I stumbled upon maps. Since my Nexus is a wifi only device why does it use that much battery.
I will appreciate any help you guys can provide.

Maps runs a lot of background services for location reporting and location-aware services such as Google Now. If you're rooted, you can use an app called Greenify to massively take off the hurt, but otherwise it really comes down to disabling location reporting wherever you can. Disabling your GPS can help a bit (power-drain wise, since Maps will still try to run anyway with coarse location).

Really bad battery life? Help

So I've been experiencing some very bad battery life ever since i got this phone. I get between 5-7 hours of battery life with an average of 3 hours of on screen time. I do use a lot of Spotify, Bluetooth and Instagram. Instagram makes my phone feel hot quickly. Like its using a lot of CPU. I've also noticed i got a few wakelocks. Any help? Anyone got any tips? I don't feel like deleting Instagram neither lol

I also have Instagram Greenified. If i didn't manually close Instagram before shutting the screen off, it would keep running in the background and keep my phone hot.
This might sound stupid, but it worked for me before, but have you tried just restarting the phone? One time I was getting terrible battery life over several battery cycles and doesn't know how to get rid of the wakelock so I restarted my phone and next cycles were a lot better. It might just be a "band-aid" for the real problem, but it might help some.

Radio shows as off+battery frain

So I have been having battery issues on my Note 3 for a while now. Android system has been a large offender of using my battery, but I've also noticed that there are gaps in my mobile network signal. From this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26891039&postcount=14 I'm gathering that my radio is off? This happens when screen is on, but mostly when it's off. During these times I can get texts, and everything works fine. Just my battery starts to drain faster. The area under my camera also gets rather hot. This is my 2nd Note 3 with this issue, the first one was RMAed because it would not get messages on time.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Running Jasmine ROM 2.4.1.

I believe with your radio off you should drain less battery. Mine does it too, and I have awesome battery life without being rooted. Usually well over 24 hours with heavy use, and 6 hours or more on screen time. I recently did a factory reset so maybe that's what you need for better life?

[Q]Help me with wakelock...

I have an n910c, currently in stock lollipop bob4 firmware but with ultimate kernel v19 custom kernel and i'm having problem with tons of wakelock..
Installed betterbatterystats and noticed that there are standard amount of partial wakelock from social media apps and sometimes google play services ( i'm in china so google play is blocked and sometimes it tries to sync and causing wakelock) which is understandable and taken care of by greenify..
But there are tons of kernel wakelock according to betterbatterystats.. as you can see from the attachment below.. it is still persist even after i changed into custom kernel. Can somebody explain what is causing these kernel wakelocks? Thanks
Note: overall battery life is okay really with 4,5 - 5 hours of sot with poor lte signal most of the time and using vpn software which is as i discovered, uses lots of battery.. but i'm feeling that standby time is rather poor with tons of wakelocks.. and hoping with these wakelocks removed i can get 6-7 sot..
