Having been mocked for years for being an early adopter of the Dell streak then the note and my note2, in regards to their size. Getting the XZ is the first time in 3 years that I have gone down in screen size, I'm actually going to say, I wish the XZ had a slightly bigger screen.
But you won't hear any bad words from me about my XZ, overall I love it, you can't Beat writing a text in the pouring rain without fear of damaging Your phone. This is important when living in Manchester where it always rains

Mine has been fully submerged in cold water while streaming music twice.
It's been in several pints of beer and then washed off in a sink.
Passed every test with flying colors
Good job Sony

Nice shot.
Sometimes I too take underwater shots with my phone. Last Sunday I recorded a 25mins video but Note 2 screwed it up.
Looks like Note2 disables auto-focus if you touch the screen while video recording

Those who wants a link for the case, he made a video review of a case for note 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q00G_oMZXcM
i love the girl on the video..lol
Your waterproof case didn't seem reliable if you bend it.
I'm using the same case this guy did
DicaPac guarantees waterproof protection down to 5m which is pretty enough for a plastic bag.
I have a video taken underwater with my note 2 also.

Nice perform If I played with my phone when my girlfriend around she would go mad I guess She barely accepts the fact I install new ROMs everyday and play games, spend a lot of time with phone basicly

nice ! but from the pic... no offence..but I feel the cover looks very cheap as in it could tear easily? or is it not? in a scale of 1 to 10 while 10 being very durable and long lasting how much would scale/rate the cover?
Sent from my Samsung Note II N7105 LTE using Tapatalk 4
It cost less then SGD20. At that price i rate the durablity ten..
It doesn't feel like it would tear easily. If compared to a plastic bag i would say
it's around 8/10 while that plastic bag is a 1/10. .
I will not use it more then a month if used everyday...
Texture is something like this http://www.notempire.com/images/uploads/marcRainCoat.jpg
This is the case: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dive-Cover-...DA_Cases&var=470277302816&hash=item27d62307bd
Its all hard plastic with silicon on top of the screen. Of course, the screen doesnt work when underwater! So with a small change in a file, I changed the home button to a camera button.
Of course, I never went more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) underwater just to be sure. But for surface and up to 2 meters photos and videos, the case is perfect. 100% waterproof!
Max duration I had the camera in the sea was ~40 minutes and not a single drop went in.
I didnt try a pouch because I thought it would distort the pictures if it was not perfectly straight and clear near the lens.

I receive calls while in the shower all the time, so I just have it there just in case. Could loose some business, as I even charge for minutes on the phone.
Plus, I Can!!!
As we all know the S5 is IP67 rated meaning it should withstand up to 1m of water depth for 30min, I have tried simple splash tests so far, and dropping it bucket of water ect... so far no issues
My question is: is it really safe for it to go swimming ect? what should be avoided? and finally is there a case that will allow it to survive underwater to take pictures ect...
...
There are a number of footages made with S4 active undetwater. The standard is the same..so will be no problem IF the usb port is closed and the back cover is OK. I don't know. How the screen will react underwater, maybe all the camera settings must be done before going underwater.

All that I understand, the phone does not work too well while underwater, it seems to detect being submerged each time and once I dry it with a towel its back to normal, underwater the screen is rather non responsive so I am looking for a case that will do the trick
Samsung really need to make an actual shutter button on the sight for the waterproof model since the screen is not working underwater because of the cold temperature.

yes. you are right. I have the sony xperia z and have taken underwater pictures/videos in a pool with no negative results(besides sound being muffled until the speaker dries out)
Well until we get a new type of touchscreen technology, we will never be able to use our smart phones under water.
Current touchscreens detect your finger by electrical current. While under water, since water is a great conductor, the touchscreen goes haywire and starts registering random touches.

Here's some things you need to think about, the S5 screen has an oleophobic coating and some liquids can damage/remove that coating.
Swimming pools, salt water = bad!

The phone doesn't detect being submerged, it just can't register touches because the water interferes with the capacitive touch screen.
underwater when pressed power or home button the fingerprint sensor start to detect your finger and after 5-6 seconds they prompt you to type your password.

i dont plan on going swimming with it....for me, it's all about accidental stuff like dropping in toilets, spilling stuff on it, a downpour, etc

Im fairly sure that swimming pools would be fine. Salt Water on the othet hand can be highly corrosive so its advisable to avoid it.

With the huge interest in the 4K and Timeshift Video mod, I figured now's better than ever to open a thread for sample footage either slow-motion or in 4K for those who are still in doubt whether or not to root their Xperia Z1 [Compact], or those who already have the mod installed and want to see what others can do with it. (those of you who have an Xperia Z1 [Compact] version that cannot be rooted - I recommend you don't watch these videos. You will get jealous and I do feel sorry for you)
To start this thread off, there's the amateuristic video I made:
Disclaimer: the mod does not work with the Xperia Z as far as I know - I've seen this question too many times all over the interwebz so don't even bother here. Other questions about the mod are welcome as long as it's not about the installing or flashing procedure.
Disclaimer 2: don't bother commenting about my fingerboarding skills either, I'm seriously not serious about this.

You have some guts taking this phone underwater. I will never do that esp after seeing so many people cry as their warranty was denied bcoz of waster insertion.
Water is the best cooling agent

I put my phone two times in water, I washed it two times also. No problems at all. Just the sound is a little lower when the water touch the phone.
But, after 10-15 min. it's all the same.
I don't wanna lose warranty with rooting and putting these features, but I'm eager to get them...
Putting your phone under water has higher risk of voiding your warranty rather than rooting your phone.

Hahaha, I did it a few times now, we'll more than a few let's say about 20 and no problems. the sound is lower because it clogs the speaker and mic but it's back to normal as soon as it dries out. this is my second Z1 (the first had some headphone problem and they replaced it) and both have survived numerous submersions
I just make sure all the ports are properly sealed

My phone got drowned with water, and covered under warranty. Because if the water damage was not for the users own fault, eg not closing flaps or something caught in them breaking the seal.
If Sony finds the phone has had water inside, the first thing they do is ensure that the flaps etc are closed and clear of debris, then conduct a pressure test, submerge the phone in water. If water is detected inside, then you have warranty because it is obviously a manufacturing or repair (if applicable) defect.
Lol at the people afraid of putting their phone under water. I've lost count of the times I've washed my phone or gone in the pool with it.
Sent from my Xperia Z1 using XDA Free mobile app
I wish service center here do the same test. Once I went there for touch issue and another guy brought his phone. The service center reception guy just told him that his warranty is void as water has entered and told his to pay 50% of the actual price to get a new one.
For my touch issue he told that I have enabled "show touch" in developer option and that's why I have it ?

Lol same here, I got my phone damaged somehow maybe after taking a shower with it( started flickering right after), and all flaps were closed etc but the screen started flickering and eventually died, sent it to sony, got it back with a new screen and outer housing, now the question is, is it still waterproof?
Have not rooted it yet, i got lazy to downgrade my firmware then root, then upgrade to keep root, currently the latest and greatest firmware cannot be rooted on the c6916

Yes, in the album, you will see movie creator icon on the bottom when you open up the 120fps video.
from there you can edit speed of any selected part again
It's more like who doesn't put their phone under water. 1 of the main selling points for this phone at the time anyway. I have done it countless times and no issues at all. I paid for a water proof phone it will take a dip with me when i want it to.
