Hi guys,
I've checked the settings and ensured that it auto-updates every 1 hour. However, I still have to manually press the refresh button to update. Tried the following with little success:
* Rebooting phone
* Re-adding widget
Just wanted to confirm if this is a widespread problem, or just me.
Many thanks

This seems to be a problem with Sense items, but I could be wrong. I keep changing my weather and my Exchange email to update every hour, and both of them keep reverting back to Manual as soon as I hit the back button. Any suggestions?
Never mind. I figured it out. If any one else had the problem, I had put the widget on the home page that lets you turn everything on and off from the same widget and had accidentally toggled one that stops all automatic syncing.

My Facebook and Twitter SNS feeds have suddenly stopped working. When I go to Setting > Accounts & sync and click on my Facebook or Twitter account under 'Manage account' the SNS Service is unclicked. When I try to click them to reactivate it, it fails giving me an error saying, "Activation failed, tap to reactivate." I discovered this problem because I received a notification from both Facebook and Twitter in my Notification Pane at the top of the screen saying, "Facebook/Twitter registration error. Register manually."
These feeds were working wonderfully before last night. I was receiving updates via the ticker every half hour or so. Has this happened to anyone lately? It started for me last night sometime.
For troubleshooting purposes, I have done nothing to my phone lately. I have not installed apps or messed with any settings. All I have done is used my phone for normal things like making/receiving calls and sending/receiving text messages along with accessing my Facebook/Twitter via the app installed on my phone. My phone is completely stock and is not rooted. I updated to DL17 around 1 week ago. Again, the problem did not rear its head until last night.

I didn't place my post under that thread because I'm not having RSS feed issues. I'm having SNS feed issues.
As a follow up to my original post, today I did a factory reset on the phone and am still receiving the same errors for my SNS feeds as listed above. One observation I have made however is that while I'm trying to active my SNS feeds via Setting > Accounts & sync, I will receive Facebook/Twitter ticker updates. However, I do not receive updates via the ticker once the attempted activation of my SNS feeds has failed.
To me this sounds like a Samsung software bug. I called Verizon yesterday and they had no record of this problem reported elsewhere. They advised me to notify Samsung via their device forums.
The SNS feeds started magically working again after about a week. Here is a list of things I attempted to correct the problem:
1. Delete all my SNS accounts and recreate them.
2. Active and deactivate my SNS accounts countless times.
3. Turn off the ticker sleep function.
I'm not sure which one fixed the problem but my guess is the ticker sleep function. I saw at one point my ticker sleep function was continuing past the time I had set which was really odd. Keep in mind too that the problem did not correct itself immediately after any of my attempts. After doing all the listed above it just started working days later.
Maybe this will be of some use to someone experiencing the same problem.
Hi,
I have a strange problem on recently acquired Samsung S6 Edge (SM-G925FQ), Android 5.1.1
I really need to set refresh interval in email/rss reader apps to 1 minute, but anything I set below 5 minutes does not work (it's still 5 minutes in reality). This is not an applicaton problem, as the same apps are working properly on my other android phone, and multiple apps are affected (Aqua Mail and several RSS readers (Sparse RSS, Flym, ...)).
Looks like this is a system-wide problem - apps are not allowed to schedule refresh events with interval less than 5 mins. Its either an issue with my settings (I went through them 10 times!) or with the system.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that could help me solve the issue...
Thanks
Tonight I was in the gmail app doing a search through my work inbox. It showed me some results, but that wasn't old enough so I said "Load more". Repeated that step a few times and suddenly gmail crashed out ("Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped working"). Relaunching it ever-so-briefly makes the list of mail messages appear but then crashes again.
I completely powered off and rebooted - same thing happened when I opened gmail again.
I went into Settings -> Apps, selected Gmail and went to storage. Cleared the cache and then tried opening it -> same result.
Clear Cache, reboot before opening -> same result.
The Clear Data button appears enabled in the same green color as Clear Cache, however nothing happens when I click it. Clear Cache gets a shadow / ripple effect where I click it. Nothing like that on Clear Data, it's like it doesn't recognize it is "touchable".
I also note that when I go into the Gmail app (before going into the separate screen where Clear Data / Clear Cache are), that the Disable button and Force Stop buttons are both greyed out / disabled.
From the home screen, I tapped the button to bring up the list of open windows/apps and swiped Gmail off to close it that way, but again no change in behavior.
Phone is stock ROM. I did unlock the bootloader in anticipation of rooting it, but I ended up never going that next step and have just been taking the OTAs since then (am currently on 6.0.1, January 1 security patch level).
Any other ideas?
Thanks
try removing your work account from the device.
OK, doing it that way seemed to clear it up. I've re-added the account and it has now sync'd, things seem to be back to normal. That was annoying. Any ideas why the clear data doesn't do anything?
Not one that I have a real explanation for. Glad it's back up and running though.

Same here on pure nexus 9 , have tried reboot, , remove cache/date, re-install, ti-back recovery.
Still crash after in gamil app "search".
Then I removing the google working account and re-add it, still the same, now try to reboot without google account then re-add after boot again
Hello everyone!
Here is what I did as follows.
First of all, the data cannot be cleared, which will induce this issue with the 'crashing' app.
What could help is updating the application. It works perfectly for me (even without removing my account)
I hope this will be useful and help for your problem with Gmail!
Cheers!
Hi all,
I’m on an unrooted Marshmallow 6.0 MXPE with the May security patch. I use the stock calendar (Google - version 5.5.14-128688903-release) for appointments, reminders, etc. and only enter events on the phone itself (I don't log into a computer to my Google Calendar and send myself emails, so this isn't a "push notification" issue, if I have my lingo correct.) Anyway, my phone either goes off minutes/hours late or my phone doesn't go off at all, causing me to miss multiple appointments, etc. In my 7+ years with Android phones this has never happened to me, and my lousy memory cause this current issue to be a tragic one! I've tried using 3rd-party calendars as well (DigiCal, Today) and the same thing is happening. Here are some things I've tried:
1. I've selected Settings -> General -> Notify on this device and also de-selected it while using Google Calendar, and I also tried this setting even when using the 3rd-party apps.
2. On the MXPE I’ve gone into Settings -> Battery -> Battery Optimization and set Google Calendar (called just “Calendar” in this app list) and any 3rd-party calendar apps to “Not optimized”. I then tried setting EVERYTHING to “Not optimized” (trying to see if that made a difference despite the App Standby feature being basically nullified, if I understand that correctly).
3. I’ve cleared the cache partition on the phone upon re-boot.
4. I’ve downloaded and installed an app called Force Doze and whtelisted the calendar apps
5. I’ve used adb to use the script “dumpsys deviceidle disable” to disable Doze (albeit temporarily, since this would go away once the phone was rebooted) and this didn’t seem to show any improvements.
I’ve done hours of research online and remember reading somewhere that Doze will still kick in even if an app has been whitelisted. I’m not a programmer (although I’ve rooted past phones and am fairly tech-savvy) so I don’t know how to resolve this big issue. I’m not sure if factory resetting my phone would make a difference. Or do I root the phone so there’s a way to disable Doze altogether, if that is in fact the issue (after all, I would rather have a phone with lousy battery life and receive calendar notifications than miss them). One thing to note is that the Google Calendar app is a bit glitchy for me, such as when I tap the 3 bars at the top left to get to the Settings menu, and the app freezes nearly every single time. I don’t see a way to uninstall the Google Calendar app and re-install, if that would even help. The good news is that the app and all the calendars always sync with my Google account.
Nearly all the research I’ve done only shows people with the “push notification” issue where their wifi got disabled or something like that. My issue is different. Has anyone had any issues like mine and/or found a solution? Sorry for the longwinded post but I am at my wit’s end and wanted to list all the details.
