Can someone point me in a direction (this device or other) in order to change the boot splashscreen?

Sure. Are you rooted?
Sure. Yes.

The files are in qmg extensions. Same place as before.
System\Media
Looks like the old replace the zip may not work here. I'm sure a hacked kernel will or has been released. Not too sure since I just step on the scene.
I'm working on this though. Maybe someone can chime in for a better solution.
The boot animation and splash screen are different . splash screen would not be in /system
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Hmmmmmm......Indeed.
I found a tool on IRC to help with compiling a rle file, however it seems the write protection enabled on the device keeps the change from sticking after reboot. Is there a write protection exploit for our device or even a way to flash it in there?

I'm coming across that problem too. *sigh* Start Up phone woes. :banghead:

OK, I'm trying something with our continuums and it requires editing the boot.img file, which we don't have, correct? But whenever we flash a kernal, the file is listed as zimage, and our zimage the same as boot.img? And we do I find our kernal in our phone?

Sorry... been out of the loop. Samsung does their boot setup a little different than HTC or Moto... With Samsung, we have zimage, which is broken down into initramfs and a primitive file system, if I recall. The initramfs initiates the primitive cache system (which is an rfs file type... hence the reason we do it differently). Once that is initialized, it starts the boot process in the kernel.

That site may help you a little with whatever you are trying to do.

Then offer some more information - how did you get there? Pull the battery (shouldn't be necessary, but give it a shot). If you have a case on it, make sure to leave it off.
More information gets better answers.

In order to remove the factory mode message first your phone must be rooted. Use root explorer, go to efs folder than FactoryApp there's a file "factorymode" edit it as a text file you'll see it says OFF change it to ON, save and reboot.

Did you try to factory reset from recovery? Wipe the data partition. If on stock recovery, keep in mind, it will wipe the internal SD.
It seems kies is not fully wiping. I know that Odin will not normally erase the data partition.

Has anyone had a problem with the root browser in this lately? it refuses to let me unzip something or transfer file to another folder.
Thanks
Fix you download the tools to let you unzip? When you enter root browser it prompts you with a message stating to download did you accept to it?

Works great for me. If u use the font changer, set the font in LG settings to something other than Roboto. Then install whatever font u choose, reboot then select Roboto in LG settings and then u have the font u installed.

Everytime I try to install a rom or any zip file in cwm, it could all files and everything but towards the end it says error loky-fying or something like that. Thanks to this my device was stuck in a boot loop for a while. It installs like 1/4 of the rom. Enough to see the boot logo and then it reboots.
I also got this error installing the white display and see through notification panel. Although it is working fully.

Will this delete app/user data? Flashing CWM did not
If so is there any known workaround at all?

Are you happened to be rooted or have disabled any apps? At every single boot the system scans for these things, though I don't think it would prevent you from getting an update, just give it a Lil more time.

You get the custom only if you have made modifications to the system partition and that can happen only if you are rooted
Well I did have to send it in for a repair and the guy rooted it. I ended up removing the root via the superuser app option.
