Hi, i recently got my Galaxy S4 and wanted to Root it.
Is there a root out for my device?
Specs:
Model Number: GT-I9505
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: I9505XXUAMDC
Kernel Version:
3.4.0-431985

Build Number: JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDC
Also i wanted to know some information about rooting.
I know that root is getting admin access but im not sure about ROMS and Kernals
Are ROMS the operating system, so after rooting i can use a different operating system?
What is a kernal and do i need it for rooting or is it just needed for ROMS.
Thanks

Hi all,
I've got a GT-N7100 and I'm currently running Ditto Note 3. I struggled to find which firmware my phone was meant to run on stock. Its a South African phone so I downloaded the XFE 4.1.2 one for South Africa.
I tried installing that and in the process it lost the IMEI. I went back to DN3 and the IMEI is back and all is working. I really want to go back to stock 4.1.2. Is there something I'm doing that's wrong?
Screen when I was still on stock is the following:
Model Number: GT-N7100
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: N7100XXDLK7
Kernel version: 3.0.31-1071214

Screen on DN3 is the following:

Android version: 4.3
Baseband version: N7100XXUEMJ9
Kernel version: 3.0.31-2138564

Thanks for all the help

But first back up you're IMEI from the link below, since almost certainly you're gonna lose it, and restore back later.

Good Day,
I'm trying to root my SM-G900F WITHOUT tripping KNOX
Baseband Version: G900FZHU1ANI2
Kernel Version :

I've already tried the towelroot but it says: Phone not supported, I even tried the modstring but it's having the same error. I'm a newbie on this kind of thing so if possible I need a step by step process on how to root, change kernel etc on this.
Thank You
Hello, I recently deleted some files and have been trying to recover them. I know there are a few problems to help me but I cannot use them unless I root my phone. I think the only way I can root my particular phone is by downgrading the software to stock and then rooting it. Please correct me if I am wrong. My question is, if I downgrade my software will it delete my internal storage? Also, if I downgrade my software will it affect my ability to recover my deleted files? My phone's information is:
Model number:
SAMSUNG-SM-6900A
Android Version:
4.4.2

Kernel Version:

Also, if I am wrong and this is not the only way to root my phone, please tell me. Or if you know of a way to recover deleted files without rooting my phone, please tell me. Thank you for your time.

Does anyone know of any root methods? I can't live with this being stock and I want CM12. Towelroot v1 and v3 don't work, and I've seen that there's no known root methods. Maybe there's a way to downgrade?
Anyway, if you can help or at least try to, thank you a lot!
You cannot root or unlock your device at this time. Maybe in the future another exploit will be found, but it is unlikely for quite some time.
