Here's another problem I encountered using s4. When using the button on the headphones that came with the phone to switch to next music track I noticed that it only works about 50% of the time and other 50% it recognizes it as play/pause command which is really annoying and makes headphone controls practically useless. Anybody had same problems?

nope yours are probably faulty
But it seems as software problem not hardware because if I only press the button once, music stops and resumes every time.

I use an auxiliary cable to connect my phone to the headunit in my car for audio play back..it normally worked great but since I've flashed roms its been glitching up..it happened with Iced Glacier and the DHD roms.
While listening to music the icon on the status bar shows a headset (has a mouth piece) instead of the normal headphones, theres no external headset connected..
Then it seems like there is some sort of g-sensor motion that will start randomly skipping thru tracks and activates the voice call menu (choose between vlingo, vlingo car, or voice search).the phone will lag like hell and start calling people..terrible.then as soon as I unplug the auxiliary cable it works perfectly fine, no force closes or freezes at all.
Anyone else experiencing issues like this?

It seems like any slight movement activates the voice dialing function or fast forward. It happens everytime..

Issue persist even with using a different music app (poweramp) and a different lockscreen (widgetlocker)...
I recently froze the Genius app, voice dialer, and vlingo...we'll see what happens next time
Figured is update incase anyone else is having issues.
Anyone else having audio playback/headset issues download 'headset blocker'

Is this a known bug? My media volume usually gets stuck where I can't move the volume higher or lower and the same for my phone volume and can't set it to vibrate and I have to reboot every time.

I've had this happen a couple of times too. Not enough to notice any pattern in when it happens yet.
It happened to me few time after installing power toggles few weeks ago. I uninstalled it and have not had any more freezes.

Mine is still stock and unrooted.
It happened to me but then I realized my Netflix app was holding up the audio. I watched something but didn't exit properly. I just had to bring up the multi tasking window and swipe out Netflix. Maybe you have another audio app you opened just before and it hasn't releases the audio control yet

I've replicated the problem. When spotify is playing and I yank out my headphone without stopping it it meses with the toggles. King of annoying really. Never happened with my GNex.

But if you close out spotify on the multi-task bar do you get control back?

No I had to reboot. Now I have to hit pause to remove the headphone because if I don't it would continue playing through the speaker instead of pausing like it should.
HI guys! I recently faced this problem:when I am listening to the stock google music player and I press the power button, the music buttons(play/pause,rewind) are missing from the lockscreen.I restarted my phone and it's still the same.Do you know what the problem is?
Try locking the screen with the music player in the foreground once.

Can I ask you something. When you were using headset control did you have artefacts on lock screen like either shrunk camera app or music widget that was blinking intermittently?
This only happens when on lock screen (screen on) and pressing headset button to play music ...

I noticed once something like a bug and i had to press again the power button because it freezed. But I can't remember exactly what happened.Except this I didn't have any other problem.
Hi, I had the same problem, I contacted them by the site and FB to ask them to fix this problem, I'll say you what they said !
I'm having some annoying issues with the music controls on the included headphones. It seems nearly impossible to skip songs by double clicking the button, I always just pause and unpause the music repeatedly. Also, if I have music controls enabled (so I can use the volume buttons on the phone to change songs), the volume buttons on the headphones are disabled. I'm not sure if this is more of a custom ROM issue, or just the way it is. But my main concern is skipping songs barely working.
Any way to fix this?
-Thanks

If you are running a custom ROM, you'll probably get better answers in that ROM's Q&A thread... just sayin'
I have no issues with the operation of the headphone buttons with the stock ROM.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was the ROM or just how it is, but I'll check out the ROM Q&A.

Hello all,
Very happy with the Note 3 so far, which is no mean feat since I came from an S4.
I have however found an issue which could end up being very annoying. I use my phone for listening to music through a headphone amp and a set of UE Triple-Fi, so I'm sensitive to potential issues. I've found that when the phone is idle (no music playing, no other apps using the sound subsystem) there is a constant and very clear hiss. If I press the volume rocker down for example, it "thumps" and goes quiet for a few seconds, then the hiss returns. Similarly, if I start playing some music (Spotify or Google Music for example) again it thumps and goes as quiet as as I can hear.
Just to make it absolutely clear:
1) there's no hiss when a sound is playing, just when the phone is not outputting anything sound-wise.
2) when going from no sound to an app starting to play a sound, there's a clear, audible click/thump.
So from all the above it doesn't sound (ahem...) like a DAC SNR issue for example, just potentially a software bug. Has anyone else noticed this, are there any fixes?
Thanks!

Yepp, same problem here...and I hate it. I haven´t found a solution yet. The N2 I had before didn´t suffer of this backgroundnoise.
Thanks for replying, at least I know it's not me going crazy! Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it just us? If it's not everyone then we've got faulty devices, at least that has a solution. Thanks!

My laptop does this.
Set the brightness to full. (and turn off auto brightness.)
Also try disabling any battery-savers.
Nope, this doesn't cause it. The problem is there all the time, no matter what battery options I use.

And changing the brightness to full also has no effect? (That was the main cause on several devices.)
If not, I suspect something else is running in the background. Since it briefly stops when you press the volume keys, it is unlikely to be caused by dust in the headset port. So it has to be an app causing this.
It's still there after the latest updates. I think I might actually take a trip to a Samsung store or just an EE store and see if another Note 3 has the same problem, at least then I know if it's a general issue or if mine's faulty. To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with it now just because of this.
