[Q] [SM-N9005]Root question

Hey,
I have an unrooted SM-N9005 with the N9005XXUBMJ3 Firmware. I read that I can't root this device without triggering the knox counter, because the mj3 firmware has a locked bootloader.
Is there any other way to root it? Is it possible to flash an older firmware with older bootloader before rooting?

[Q] Updating a rooted 4.3 to 4.4.2

I used ChainFire to root my N9005 (European LTE Model).
Is it possible to update it to 4.4.2 without losing all my settings & keeping root? I don't care about tripping Knox or anything like that.
If you flash 4.4.2 XEO it won't delete any settings or data, however it may cause issues from a dirty flash... but then again it may be right.

what do you mean by "safely"?
to my knowledge full stock firmware for phe breaks root AND ability to downgrade? nothing safe about it unless you want to lose root?
