Awesome indeed!

waiting for detail

Looks great.
Initial thoughts:
Performance doesn't seem optimal yet (at least compared to the N4), the notification drawer is choppy on the home screens and transitions don't always run smoothly.
Default hybrid settings are off, for instance the browser doesn't show an address bar by default.
It needed a reboot to see my sim card, not a major issue and probaly an isolated case.
Also, pie can't be turned off?
Overal a great first build!

I haven't had the chance to try out the camera, and just flashed Cyanogenmod (mainly because of the drawer issue). I don't expect it to be any better or worse than on the CM builds though.

Preformance seems good toe coming firm a nexus 7, I haven't enabled any of my optimizations yet though so it will get better. Never used a nexus 4 but it has all my options turned on. Yea I did hybrid props quickly but you can customize to taste. My sim works most of the time. If usb is plugged in at boot the radio may not come up, it happens on stock also. Pie should be able to be disabled.

Yes, it is an officially supported device and yes it's not a nexus. 1 it was donated by oppo that's a good enough reason. 2. It will be supported primarily by the jellybean legacy branches. I'm not sure of your aware but we have official builds for the tf300 and a s3 variant as well. We can only support nexus devices we don't own cause the code is there and working. It is impossible to properly support a device you don't own.

Great to know it is official, i tempted to grab one after i tried the find5 demo unit and heard will have PA support, because i can't live without PA hybrid system . my sister owns S3 and once installed PA rom, but thanks to Samsung for entirely opens it's source forced me switched back to official rom.
Yes i know nexus devices are the best for devs, poweruser or just a casual themer like me and they have the most dev support and it's all open source. The best thing is Oppo users will get weekly updates also recently joined open source project love, that means you will receive all you need to develop Find right? Since oppo officially gives you the phone
Aaron, how do you think about this phone personally? After camera issues fixed i will certainly buy one.
Now i use PA as daily driver for all my devices, i9250 (thanks to new PA team BigBrother1984 and you), N4 by Mole, and the awesome N7 which is also managed by you, thank you.

I love it, the size took some getting used to (coming from a 4.3), but now me other device feels small. speakers build quality everything is top notch. The camera software needs a lot of work as this is the same sensor in the gs4 and xperia z and they produce better shots, but camera software takes lots of time so hopefully it will get better. Oppo has been open not quite sony level but certainly helpful.

Awesome, you have made a rom for my 2nd favorite toy! Running 1.2x (rev3 ) on my Evo. I'll download, flash, test and report when I get back home where my G-Tab is.
Couple questions though:
Is hardware acceleration implemented?
What launcher are you using?
Is the full Market avaialble?
Any known issues?
I'm currently running Calc's 1.1 rom and it's pretty snappy.
Thanks for doing this!
My favorite ROM for my evo is now available for my gtab? I love it! I'm going to have to try this out soon. One question, though; does video chat in google talk work in this? I know in your build for the evo, you have to flash an additional file to get it to work, but I don't see an equivalent file here.
dumb question, how do I know what bootloader I have? I suspect its 1.1 as I rooted a couple months ago and loaded up a Tom then

Can anyone tell me if you can open up Gps apps besides google maps.
Like gps status or gps toolbox. both free on market. or even other nav stuff like ndrive or copilot.
Has anyone had issues yet.
any screens or video review of this?
so you said its based on 1.1 bootloader, then whats with the 1.2x thing? is that just a version number of this rom?
quick review
recovery installation:
went smooth. decent time. gapps installed no prob. on a 1.1 bootloader.
bootanimation:
Not present. Stock flashing android
First boot:
VERY fast. Got google login at begining
Wifi:
Found signals fast, connected to my device. so far no drops.
3rd party apps:
superuser. spare parts.dsp manager. so all stock cm 3rd party apps.
Launcher: Stock gb
Camera.eh. works for a .3 cam
Sd card: Does not find partion as sd card.
Icons/UI:
Wallpapers is cm. THe pull down notification is soild.
THe status bar is nice and big. friendly home menu and back buttons.
Overall. Seems to me like stock cm7. Dont see whats unique about this rom.
Could i get more info from dev to let know whats so different.
If dev can continue support on this then i can choose this.
SO all issues cm7 has, this has. dsp doesnt work. gps apps dont work.
GPS APPS DO NOT WORK AT ALL!!!!!
Not sure why any GPS apps would work since there is no GPS chip in the device. Having said that, I never tried any.....

Yeah, it's just the version number. Deck started this ROM for the evo, but has started making builds for other devices. It's just the convention he's been following with the builds for the other devices. The first stable release was 1.0; 1.1 was a short lived beta, then all of the betas since have been 1.2 followed by a letter. He's gone through all of the letters of the alphabet up to x so far, which is why this version is called 1.2x.

well i need this tablet to work with gps roms. i have to to tether it to my phone.
I said gps apps because nav apps use gps location. This tablet goes in my car and so far. havent found a non tnt rom that works with gps apps.
Just because there is no gps chip doesnt mean the app shouldnt work. I can tether to my phone to use mock location and get the gps location from my phone.
so thats why i mentioned this much
good q though
btw i updated your rom banner. Since this isnt the evo.
Btw you should change your first post to say tablet and not phone.

Both VEGAn roms work with GPS at least CoPilot and BlueGPS
Loaded flawlessly, only problem mounts SD card as Emmc which plays bad with other apps
thunderbolt sent, bamf enhanced
thanks for all the input. i will do my best to get this up to par with my evo roms i.e. everything working, + battery life, and + performance. This was my very first build for the gtab, so this was basically a base to see where needs fixing. i should have a gtab in my hands very soon as well, which will make development even quicker. My issue tracker is the best place to file issues, as i tend to them very promptly. Thanks again everybody, and stay tuned...

quick summary quoted from my other thread...
"Hey all. Been a while since my last release of anything, which was sense based, but I really wanted to start learning android and have a better perspective of it. I decided to dig a bit more into compiling android. Started horsing around with github and learned to start compiling my own builds from aosp wih the help from cmsrc, evervolv, and a few others githubs. Since the release of gingerbread to aosp, i moved away from sense. There are things that i do miss about sense, but the usability of the phone without it is just unmatched imho. Many people use or have used cyanogenmod. IMHO is a great open source project that has some of the best devs out there. I have always been more into the 'vanilla' look opposed to the themed and aftermarket. Recently i have been compiling gingerbread for the evo and mt4g and have had nothing but the best reviews. Basically the reason why i am here. Wondering if there was any interest in a few of my builds. Main reason from moving away from CM6/7 (cyanogenmod), ADW launcher and the extra added bloat(sorry) and themes. Battery life will always be one of my main concerns. Everything should work!"
Even deeper then that, alot of packages are pure aosp, I have many fixes to my roms that are not in cmsrc, and lots more. youll get to know me i am a perfectionist Hope this helps

MIUI v4 Discussion Thread

As we all know, the Galaxy Note was recently added for official MIUI support. MIUI China is working towards a first public build. Contrary to popular belief, MIUI v4 is based on the Stock ROMs rather than CyanogenMod 9. So, almost everything should be working flawless from the start -- as it was supposed to be. All in all, we can look forward to the looks of MIUI and the functionality of Stock ROMs.
According to the latest polls, 4x5 icon layout has been chosen as the default which is rather perfect for the Note's large screen. Here's the screenshot from the tweet...

What's interesting to note is the S Memo icon! Although, that was expected since MIUI is based on stock Sammy ROMs, yet it's nice to have a "confirmation".
We'll also have the emmc bug then...
Though I won't be able to go to another ROM that doens't have per app DPI/Layout ever again...
what does it say about the emmc brickbug? will they have MMC_CAP_ERASE removed for safety?
also I guess that this means MIUI4 can no longer be considered AOSP ,since it's using TW as abase.
should be interesting though ,keep us posted please
Guess they are using lq2 base with rooted cf kernel.
but we can flash franco kernel etc. id wait for miui scotlands version of the official rom as they make it really better for samsung devices
^^ Exactly! I suppose we would be able to flash SpeedMod/Franco Kernel. So, we'll be safe from the eMMC bug to a certain extent -- of course, if we follow the instructions.
I'm excited because we get to retain all the stock goodness! I'm using PA myself and it'll be rather hard to switch to any other ROM. However, I'm a long time fan of MIUI and will definitely switch once it's available in all it's goodness.
Also, the MIUI theme contest which is going on right now should give us some great themes, which is lacking ATM.
love how they're asking the community what they want in the rom; how it should be done. only weak link is samsung, how a multi-million dollar company is out-shined by the dev community never ceases to amuse me xD.

I don't think fb is the best place to get feedback. End users don't necessarily understand the concepts of developing or porting a ROM. Will try and push this thread to them, once it picks up activity.

of course we can flash a safe kernel ,but it would be nice if they released their own optimized safe kernel to begin with.
and yes I also think it would be interesting to see MIUI4 based on TW ,hopefully it won't have lagging or memory management issues like official ICS does.

Don't expect much in the Kernel department. Everybody always switches MIUI Kernels ASAP mostly because they're not optimized for performance/battery. They're mostly just optimized to run.

oh ,I didn't know that ,your MIUI V4 port was the first (brief) encounter with MIUI for me.
and since it was based on cm9 kernel it was actually very smooth.
here is hoping the real MIUI port is at least just as good

seeing that you are a long tie MIUI fan ,may I ask you what's so good about it?
when I tested your port the positive side was a feel of elegance ,and total customization even more than CM9.
the bad side however was the iOS look of the launcher which I hate so much, and the lack of an app drawer.
luckily the launcher can be easily replaced ,and since this is based on TW ,I can switch to it to retain full functionality ,while (hopefully) not draining all my RAM like the official sammy ROMs does.
so care to enlighten me to more positive points of this popular ROM ,ones that I won't find in CM9 (beside the TW functionality obviously).
thank you
Even I hate the fact that the launcher doesn't have an app drawer but there is an app for that -- MIUI Control -- it gives you a pull down app-drawer.
The best thing about MIUI is the fact that you can theme pretty much every aspect of the ROM with a click of a button. That's not the case with CM9. There aren't many themes for MIUI v4 as of now, however that will change in the near future.
Also, with MIUI you have the option to apply individual elements of different themes -- and then combine them into one theme file. That alone makes it the best ROM for theming.

exactly ,that pretty much sums what I know about MIUI from my ~1 hour trial with it
good to know that there is an app drawer ,can't stand a combined view of apps and widgets.
thanks again
I've already ask them about the removing of the emmc-bug in their kernel here and on their "what device should get miui next?" poll. Without any answer.

I have been using MIUI for more than a year on my HD2, which I have sold to get Galaxy Note. I can tell you that the nicest thing about MIUI roms is the notification bar on top. I don't understand why all ROMs don't have this notification / control panel that MIUI has.
No more widgets to turn on bluetooth, wifi or toggle between 2g and 3g to save battery. You just pull down the curtain, and switch everything on or off easily. So this is what I miss most on other ROMs.
The rest, its a very fast and smooth mobile OS. Simple to use, lots of themes and frequent updates with new features and bug fixes.
Not sure how well it will handle the S Pen, as this is one of the features that separate G.Note from the rest of the competition, but if they manage to get everything working well, I am sure that it will be a great success.
^^ Agreed. The main thing I like about MIUI is that it is a complete experience right off the bat. You get...
1. File Explorer
2. Backup
3. Monitor
4. Blacklist
...and so much more! Of course you can install all these separately for other ROMs but it's nice to know that they're all packaged with MIUI.
And yes, it would be great if they manage to retain all the S-Pen functionality. With custom ROMs we lose this functionality which then makes our phone like any other. Don't get me wrong, I love myself some PA/CM9/AOKP goodness, but then my phone doesn't feel any different from the S2 I had.

And yes, it would be great if they manage to retain all the S-Pen functionality. With custom ROMs we lose this functionality which then makes our phone like any other. Don't get me wrong, I love myself some PA/CM9/AOKP goodness, but then my phone doesn't feel any different from the S2 I had.

well the Spen still works in CM9 ,just without the Snote app ,have you tried installing photoshop touch? you get absolute control with the pen .
did you know that hovering the pen gives you a mouse cursor in CM9 ,while touching it will register a click ,just like a desktop PC .
but of course it will be nice tom have MIUI with all TW functionality ,IF they keep the performance a priority

nice
nice review. i think i should upgrade to kitkat anyway :victory:
The Resurrection Remix has also evolved quite well. Do check it out too.
For a sammy rom
The last few days I've been using wizzedkat. Sammy rom from the S5 and I'm really happy with it. Straight stock and even includes samsung apps!
It's kind of retro and future all at the same time (Samsung stock and kitkat together).

I think you should be careful and state which variant the ROM is for. Hellkat isn't available for i9100 international AFAIK. Most people assume automatically that's what variant it is for by posting in GSII General, and may flash it on an i9100 based on that (stupid) assumption.
+1
that's true

From my experience, RR 5.0.8 (with Dorimanx kernel) is doing quite well and is very stable. It offers tons of customizations.
Some of the issues I am facing are:
a) The display turns on with the caller identity 3 secs after the phone starts ringing.
b) Gallery and Music player not detecting pics and songs from the memory card.
Hopefully, these will be addressed in the next version.
Past: beanstalk
Coming from jb I found that this one had the best customizations ever. Most of the things worked superbly, and the performance and battery time were really high too. Faced 2 issues though -
1. Google keyboard didn't work. So used touchpal coz I really loved the ROM at that time.
2. When plugged on for charging, phone will go entirely crazy. Won't respond properly to touches, unlocks, notifications and esp swype will just die. The moment it's unplugged of the charger, it's back to normal.
The 2nd bug was quite an issue so I moved to pacman ROM. It didn't have halo but smoothness and customizations are on high here. Was quite happy with it but after few days of normal usage started showing the same phone-going-crazy-while-charging issue.
I have tested 2 kitkat ROMs so far. Wanted to know whether it's a kk bug or ROM bug?
And yeah, all the installations were completely clean.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
new roms added..WIP so all roms gonna be updated..im testing now some and newer versions released.:good:
Kitkat Rom #3/4:
SlimKat/SlimSaber -Found both of them very similar.
As the name suggests its really slim. Without any apps installed from my side the rom takes only 350 MB Ram which leaves a lot of room available.
1. Camera works fine.
2. So does the music player.
3. Low on customizations (compared to other ROMs) e.g. other KK roms have a lot of lock screen, navigation bar etc customizations which were not found here.
4. A very simple file explorer.
5. Simple, Neat & Elegant.
6. No inbuilt Screen recorder
7. No performance controls like other ROMs.
Though i found the same issue I had with my previous KK roms i.e. phone-going-crazy-and-laggy-while-charging so did not keep it for a long time. And hence wont be able to comment anything on battery stats.
I will still recommend it to the lite users but people who look for customizations and performance control features from ROM, will have to keep looking.
Also, I forgot to mention that on all the KK roms I have seen, gameplay was laggy. I dont play any heavy games, it was just temple run 2.
Kitkat Rom #5:
OMNI rom:
1. Quite smooth
2. Had a lot of customizations (more than slim roms and less than pacman/beanstalk/carbon etc)
3. Looked good and stable
4. Did not keep it for a long time so cant comment on battery life.
5. Had I seen it earlier I am sure I would be on it for a long time but I am accustomed to high customizations now so moving on.
6. Was a little higher on RAM usage (towards 500 Mb without any apps installed from my side)
Kitkat Rom #6:
Carbon ROM:
1. Beautiful & Sleek UI.
2. Carbon fibers i.e. really good customizations/options.
3. little higher on RAM usage (towards 500 Mb without any apps installed from my side)
4. Had to uninstall it in an hour itself as it became quite laggy and started giving me "unfortunately, **** has stopped working" messages for a lot of applications. Even whatsapp was force closing.
So all this charade, and I am back to Beanstalk (22/12/2013 build) now and I dont think I want to try more. Will have to live with laggy gameplay and response-issues-while-charging if I want KK i guess.
What about CM 11 ?
I think the CM11 Linaro/SaberMod Version by Markox89 is also worth a mention. It feels very stable and I have the feeling, that battery life (with the supplied kernel) is also better compared to the (un)official CM11 nightlies.

I'd say "stability" rather than "quality". Quality is subjective and I think the quality of CM apps (excluding camera) are preferable to LG.

by quality i did meant camera.not of apps.those who dont use camera much should go for cm 13.those who uses camera alot should stick to stock or stock based roms.also those who like lg knock features ir blaster etc should stay with stock.as they r not available on cm13.ir blaster is available but also.

Yeah. Camera has improved a lot on CM recently. The only advantages to stock now are:
Laser Autofocus (quicker focussing)
4K recording
Slo-mo video
I think that's it now. Actual quality of shots is pretty much on par.
Is Cm13 stable and safe to install? I think i read some brick questions in CM13 thread about bug or somethink else i cant remember.
Yeah the quality of the shots do look good on CM for me, its another story for low light, but then again, that's not a strength of the hardware right? The IR blaster works for me on CM with Peel Smart Remote. I like the look of the LG Setup, personally I like it with the Materialistik icon pack. Every time I go back to an LG ROM I just go back to CM.

Officially it's not yet classified as "stable" but I've been using it since January and with the exception of a few bugs like connecting to Bluetooth fitness trackers and the volume, both of which are now fixed, my experience has been excellent.
There was a lot of talk about an EMMC bug going around but that seems to only affect people whose last official ROM was KitKat (4.4).
To avoid it (and this hasn't been confirmed but is widely recognised as the way to prevent it) boot to recovery, do a full wipe in TWRP 2.8.7, flash the stock LG Marshmallow ROM, boot and go through the motions, shutdown, boot to recovery, full wipe, flash CM13 and GAPPS. Enjoy.

Yeah I think the low light issue is there on LG and CM. I guess the laser focus on LG Stock helps with focusing in low light but there's no noticeable difference in the quality of the final image between LG and CM.

Does the EMMC bug only applies to cm13? when you said flash the stock LG Marshmallow ROM did you mean this? and what do you mean when you said go through the motions? sorry for the nood questions I just want to make sure before flashing cm.

That's OK. I don't know huge amounts about the EMMC bug, I don't think anyone really does.
By "go through the motions" I just meant install the ROM and go through the setup - timezone, WiFi, etc...
As far as I know the bug is due to the different way Lollipop and Marshmallow are partitioned from KitKat.
Just make sure you use TWRP and remember to wipe

Hard to say because different factors can affect it and I'm what I'd call an intermittent user - pick it, put it down, etc - but so far today I've used nearly 50% in the past 7.5 hours including 1.5 hours of screentime (1 hour of which was playing a graphics intensive game on a fairly high brightness).

Thanks a lot mate. Just installed over 6.0 Stock KDZ and works perfect. And i love it! Since i've been a Nexus user since Gnexus, CM gone better and better. Probably i'll never go back stock again. UI is super smooth and light as a feather. I hope i dont encounter weird bugs.

In theory yes. Lollipop was my last official LG build and I've not had any issues.

I was on Marshmallow and after full wipe I have installed cm-13 nightly and (for now) everything works fine.
I use only 2 days stock Marshmallow - only system takes 1.4 GB RAM, but CM takes only 750MB. Battery live is for me better on CM as on stock and when I use android, It's going much more faster as on stock.
For me, I will not return to stock.

Introduction
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

Well good for you. Try it and do leave a review along with any bugs you face
I just tried to flash the zip but it ended in error saying this package is for device teratab , this device is tegranote..
Edit : my device is indian variant xolo tegra note 7.
Edit 2: I flashed op recovery and that gave me error but I reverted back to twrp which I had earlier. After that I successfully flashed the ROM and pico gapps. Booted and them used supersu 2.81 beta which have issue so better stick to either 2.79 if you want or wait for that update. But I wanted magisk so I flashed it and got root too . though safety net checks fails but that doesn't matters me. Right now I am typing this through tegra tab itself and gonna test it fully. WiFi works and other thing I will post after checking... Thanks again.

how do i do this?
ok ! i do it!
Huh. I thought the device development was dead for sure. I watched the announcement thread about CM 12.1 for quite a while now but stood silent as i was skeptical. because Nvidia's kernel source is a mess for many devs, no custom development existed except the kernel by shaky (which seems to be discontinued by now). So i wasn't sure if you would really be able to have that patience to go through Nvidia's source code. But here you are with the very first custom rom release for this device. Congrats to that ^^
Anyway. Since its still a very fresh custom rom i had some questions about it:
What features does the kernel come with (overclocking cpu/gpu, new cpu governors)? Or is it just stock features implanted for now? (Mabye new stuff in the future?)
How does the rom perform compared to stock in terms of speed (loading times, smoothness etc)? Also what about gaming performance?
What about the features in general?
-nvidia specific features like stylus launcher, selectable part of screen to make a screenshot of with stylus etc
-is hdmi out fully working?
Thanks in advance
One thing I would really like to see is the ability to disable that NVidia PRISM feature that adjusts display contrast to save power but also makes the image look awful most of the time. It's one of the toggles that NV's 5.1 release didn't include.
Here is small review, didn't faced any crashes yet.. smooth and feels of cm12.1 as it is...
I fully charged tab, and kept whole night to see any battery drain and for around 8hr it's reduced from 100% to 96% which is good and much better than stock one.
Camera is good, whats you can expect from this. But there is issue with video, both side front and rear cam video get recorded but unable to play through gallery or xplore app, but they get played via vlc android player.
I checked HDMI , i have converter so I conneted to my fhd tv and it connected at hd configuration of 720p, and also the resolution was miss matched maybe due to 720p but I'm stock it was correct. I hope skoar fix this cause I connect device to tv for playing games... Lol..
Live display works once I switched on GPS. GPS work well too.
Let's see the performance and sot as I used more. I have attached overnight drainage battery status ss.
Sometimes I feels lags or shutter suddenly but for few sec and that too not much frequent.
The stylus works as our normal touching finger ,no extra features like stock one. No complaints though
I haven't added apps yet only greenify and few one. The battery uses is high , hope dev can reduce it cause while writting this i get down to 65% from 71%

You're right about the kernel source it's a big headache. I worked on it for sometime but frustration got the better of me so I extracted the stock boot image and used the zImage as the prebuilt one that way it temporarily solved the kernel problem. So the features are same as stock. I think I might be able to get the kernel to work. I've made considerable progress there. As for the launcher I completely removed it. It was giving force closes and since the stylus is working I don't think it's that necessary. I hope you guys will agree on this one. As for the performance I think it's better than the stock one but at the end of the day the truth is nvidia guys messed up with the lollipop update. They made it a lagging and stuttering ****. Since I'm using their lollipop sources so I inherited some of them. Gamming performance is good for me. When I'll be able to fix kernel sources I'll improve performance and battery backup. The ROM is currently in beta stages so bear with me for now. I hope this answers all of your questions. But for the time being I gotta catch up with studies. Try to get shaky on board for kernel development. He has done it once and hopefully will be able to do it again.

The battery uses is high , hope dev can reduce it cause while writting this i get down to 65% from 71%
I have answered this above
This is cm12.1 so here we will get adaptive brightness and live display feature which are good

Thanks for the honest review really appreciate it. For performance and battery backup read the earlier post and I'll see about the video playback and hdmi bugs.

One thing I would really like to see is the ability to disable that NVidia PRISM feature that adjusts display contrast to save power but also makes the image look awful most of the time. It's one of the toggles that NV's 5.1 release didn't include.

I think it's already disabled. But I'll take a look anyway and like mahesh said you've got much better features now
