[Q] Tasker and sms backup+ - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how do i set tasker to trigger sms backup everytime i get a text

Hi, I think thiss wil do:
Backup SMS, MMS and call logs automatically on Android device
You can back up anything to the cloud storage service. However with text messages, when you perform factory reset or switch handset, the messages will be completely lost.

I found only one problem: at SMS backup+ app - It can't be seen, that backup runs (last backup xx.xx.xx xx:xx date/time), but with click "backup now" It shows "nothing to backup" and data is already at GMAIL/IMAP destination.

Please, help. SMS problems

All operator settings are correct. I can send SMS and they are delivered, but (problem #1) outgoing SMS are not stored in the folder "Outbox".
Then, I can't receieve any SMS (#2). Actually, I do receive them, but the only way to learn about that is to keep looking on the screen, because when the device is turned off it will turn on for awhile and that's all. Messages are not even stored in device, so I can't read any of them.
Concerning e-mail: similar problems but not the same. I do not receive notification message or any sound. But incoming e-mails are stored and standart outlook says "x unread messages" or something like that. Outgoing mails are not stored either.
What I tried to solve these problem:
1. made a Backup - removed ALL installed programs = didn't help.
2. hard reset - everything works fine - restore Backup - sucks again...
I'm a newbie user of such kind of devices and a little bit desperate at the moment, so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks beforehand.
First ragarding the SENT ITEM, in OPTION you must enable this option
in SMS go to TOOLS then Option and put a check mark under "save a copy of sent messages in the sent item folder" (or something like this, I'm just translating French to English)
Second: after your hard reset, install your programs one at the time, and see if this still work.
Do not use your backup.
So you can see what program is interfering with the SMS fonction
And you can then eliminate the program that mess with your SMS
Hope that help

[Q] SMS contact-specific backup

Hello.
I want to back up sms threads between myself and a specific person to gmail. I downloaded 'sms backup +' (which is quite nice), but i have yet to see how i am able to back up sms threads between myself and a specific person. I do not need to back up all my sms.
Any constructive input would be appreciated.
Thank you
If you want to keep certain messages on your phone but don't want them backed up to Gmail maybe you could back up all messages to you SD card, delete the messages you don't want in Gmail, back up to Gmail and then restore messages to your inbox from your SD card.
There is probably an easier way but I'm only halfway through my morning coffee
Thank you for the suggestion.
For what it's worth, the app "SMS Backup and Restore" (free) will allow you to backup selected conversations. Also it has a send to mail function built right in.
Might be easier

Issue with restoring SMS after hard reset

I always took backup my SMS to my gmail account using SMS backup + https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync
After hard reset I tried to restore the SMS usinng the same application . After restoration SMS inbox shows only the senders address not any phone number and SMS content. How can I get all the SMS now?

Backup SMS with Advanced messaging.

So I have ATT advanced messaging turned on. The problem is that if I use an app besides smart switch to backup sms messages, it only captures received messages. Apparently it's some restriction with Advanced Messaging.
Does anyone know of a way to view smart switch backed up sms messages? I have a friend that lost our conversation, and I was trying to provide a copy but nothing seems to work. Thanks!

Can't switch from stock SMS without losing outgoing messages

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 plus and I'm using the stock Samsung messaging app. I am now trying to switch to the Google SMS messages app. I have switched back and forth between these apps a very long time ago although I can't remember when the last time was that I did it.
Now when I enable the Google SMS messages app as default, all of my incoming texts show up but none of my outgoing texts are there although they are all still there in the Samsung SMS app. I have tried using two different backup programs and both seem to be only backing up my incoming messages. I have tried clearing the cache on the new SMS app. I tried using Textra and Handcent just to make sure it isn't specifically the Google Messages app. Same issue. I really would like to switch to the Google app but I cannot lose the text messages.
This is very clearly an issue with the stock Samsung SMS app, I'm just hoping there's some kind of work around. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Suggestions are appreciated
Which sms backup apps did you use?
I used SMS Backup and Restore, SMS Backup+ and Super Backup and Restore.
I use SMS Backup and Restore and have no problems backing up both outgoing and incoming messages. Did you check the backup files? When I view them, I see my outgoing texts as well as the incoming texts. When I switched to Google Messages from Samsung's on the S8, I had no issues with seeing my outgoing texts. When I upgraded to the S10+ and restored my texts from SMS Backup and Restore, it restored everything, not just incoming texts.
