Hello, I never had problems with the front cam on my N4, untill today...
I wanted to use it this morning when I noticed there is a little circle on the front cam. It is not my screen but really the camera, I hope you guys can help me out, since wiping dust from the camera doesnt work.
Thanks in advance!

In Belgium where I live, they still dont sell it. (Normally they would have it for 2 weeks now but there are some things that slow it up). And i bought it in a Saturn store in Germany. Can I send it to LG Belgium or should I bring it to a Saturn store in Belgium?

looks like something acidic dripped on the glass. wipe it down with alcohol to make sure that it isnt just dirt.

Isnt that dangerous? Couldnt they say in the store that its my fault the camera has some circle in it, because of that alcohol?

i dont know about dangerous.. ive cleaned my screen every day with an alcohol pad since day one(and the back camera lens cover).

looks like grit or hair or fibre under the lens.
If IPA wont remove it from the lens cover i'd say for sure its under glass, which would suggest two things.
1. You have had the handset apart at some point and as such voided your warranty and this won't get RMA'ed, and will get sent back to you.
2. The handset has failed its IP rating (Ingress Protection Rating) and if none of the water markers or tabs that show the device has been opened not by the factory, your get this replaced.
Personally i'd not bother worrying, it will possibly shift after time, as long as it does not move to the centre.

I didnt open it myself once so I think that wont be a problem. But its possible that it goes away? How long would it take to do so?

well that's dependant on device usage, I work with fibre optics and see this all the time when cleaning fibres and laser emitters.
a week to 2 months, it a could also be a scratch / small chip on the lens cover that has dirt embedded in it, get some IPA / screen cleaner and go at it with a cotton bud.

i got this far and also removed the ribbon of flex cable.
after that, i cant get the screen out ot the front housing. is there something im missing? when i use a pry tool to try to remove it like the rest of the parts, it creaks like its going to break. ive broken it down to study it before the lights get here just to have a grasp on what im doing. any one have any pointers? some one told me it may be glued in and i would need a hair dryer or something similar to remove it. any help you guys could share would be greazt! thanks!

Ballsy man, a lot of phones have the screens glued. It's a stronger construction method and allows for the phone to be thinner.

That's the EXACT same video posted above. It does not however deal with the question at hand. The OP already has the phone to that point.

My apologies. I don't generally follow every link in threads I read, unless I have some reason to. You will understand that the link as posted gave no hint as to what it was.
sorry, i was cooking pork chops. that video posted stops right before where im at...(i know because that is the video i used for reference to get as far as i did.)
they dont remove the screen or where the buttons are at.
its not that ballsy really. this phone only has about 12 screws and 3 cables. there arent even any security stickers or water indicators.

i never got any farther. ive got a box of surface mount leds in 10 colors and nothing to do with them...
Its a double sided sticker holding the lcd to the front housing. I've replaced mine and had to reuse it. It went ok but I stretched it and the glue weakened.
Also the soft keys are glued to the lcd so remember to unplug that ribbon.

[DEFECT] Gap between glass and casing. Whose got it?

Does your SGS3 have a gap down the left hand side of the screen?
Is dust building up in it?
If so, post a photo, if you can
I am returning my first SGS3 today as there is a gap between the glass and the casing.
Dust is building up in it and it looks rather unsightly.
I was just wondering if it's just me or not.
Can you see the line of dust down the left side of the screen?

Mine has a small gap but I can't see it with the case it's in.
OP are you sure its not a HOX you're using? ;-P
I have got another one, but im afraid its still the same.
To be sure, I'll have to have it for a few days and see if any dust accumilates in it.
I looked at another one in phones4u and the screen is perfectly alligned.
Dont have it. Take some tooth brush and clean it.

I don't think the bristles of a toothbrush would get in the gap to be honest.

I just ran my nail along the gap and managed to dig out the few flakes of dust in there, so a toothbrush should work fine.
afaik all the samsung mobiles i have used had micro gaps, its the way it is designed. cant notice the gap in s3 as it is white, but it will have it surely.
btw the micro gap is required to absorb the shocks. else all the shock will reach out the screen easily.
The problem I have is that on the left side the gap is quite substantial. Where as there is no gap at all on the right side.
It's like the whole glass part it too far over to the right.
I have seen another blue S3 at Phone 4u and there it an equal gap on either side; so I know for sure there is a problem with this batch at the 3 store.
My white one has no such gap. At least nothing I can discern anyway...

You are not the first to bring this issue up, so I'm thinking many people have this issue but only a few of them will notice it.

I thought there was one, it is moving slightly. But guess that's good, firmness bad for drops.
It is also an optical illusion! Depending on the lighting angle. Does it look like a big gap on the left? Flip the phone upside down, the gap is still on the left it doesn't flip. Not worried now after noticing it, you had me for 20sec.

Custom Painted Trim

I was inspired by a thread to paint my phone in some way. So I pulled apart one of my spare phones and stole its keyboard trim piece, it looks really good painted, going to let it dry at least 24 hours before I install it.
I used red duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint.

heh, It is cool that I have 3 of these phones so that I can tear one down and take the part, paint it and replace it on my daily driver.
If I could track down the part to paint for a good price, I'd buy it, paint it, and sell it.

it is pretty easy to take apart, when you get into the more internal screws, make sure you get a good grip on the screw with the driver and use good downforce.

The screen bezel? I'm not sure, I've not been that far in. There are 2 good take apart videos on YouTube though.
If you are looking to paint the bezel, just do a good tape job around it and paint. (If it can't be removed)

My C fell off when my phone was sitting on my lap on a road trip. I guess the sun was too hot for it and the glue just turned to cupcake frosting. I ended up taking the other two letters off along with the C and it doesn't look too bad! All that gunk in the C in the OP's picture can be rubbed out so it has a clean look.

possible you can post a pic? might just do that.
While I was cleaning the back of my phone I noticed one of the letters moving, so I went ahead and took all 3 out.
I used rubbing alcohol to get the rest of the glue out, and it's pretty clean now.
I actually prefer the feel of the back without the letters. It was weird at first, but I think it feels better.
I'd post a pic, but I don't have another camera.

RIP "C" lol ...sorry bout that bruh
You know this gives me an idea...
With the filler removed from those placeholders there's enough countersink to fill with epoxy and then sand smooth.
Clear five minute epoxy resin could be used and you can make them any color you want by mixing in a bit of acrylic paint found in a craft store.
Get creative!
Just be sure that it's clean so the epoxy sticks well. Or it could fall out again...
I'm willing to bet that properly mixed epoxy will stay put though.
sad times right now, good thing is that its going back to att once the new phone is released =)
similar to the Nexus 5 ...all the Nexus letters on my white and red housing have been RIP'ed
wow, i didnt even know that they could rip off like that ?? I say you clean it up and throw some black silicone RTV in there and no one will be able to tell the difference haha

Warranty will cover this for sure, don't yell a word about screen protector to them.
You can also try dryer.

So maybe a gentle back and forth with a hair dryer and the steam could escape through the grill?
Just put the phone in rice for a couple hours, and you'll be good.
Thanks guys, I will try the rice tonight.
And definitely do warranty if that doesn't work, because that will be covered, don't mention screen protector (TAKE IT OFF BEFORE YOU GO IN) and be careful of hair dryer so you don't accidentally overheat or cause some other damage to speaker or sensors that would be troublesome to you or warranty down the line. I work for a mobile carrier, trust me, this should be an easy replacement as long as the water indicator sticker isn't red or pink.

Ah, thank you! I'm assuming you used one of those screen protectors that you get wet before applying? Side question: How difficult was it to apply on the screen? I'm horrible with screen protectors that aren't tempered glass and I think I'll have problems with this phone.

Let me know how it goes! I've got the same thing, and I'm afraid to do a wet screen protector install. I usually have Best Buy do it for me, but they don't have any products for sale and they won't do it with the screen protector I bring them.

all you need is 2 mist squirts of water, it takes very little water to get the film to stick. in any case, no need to panic, i wouldn't worry it will evaporate in a few hours.
I have the same problem what way did you leave the phone facing in the rice and for how long?
That's an easy fix. Just use a hair dryer and blow into the top little vent and you'll be able to watch it disappear
