Yes it is normal. Same with me. Its still at 0 and samsung official.

better be happy that it's zero,
it means your warranty is still intact

I think doky made the tool.
Try to flash kernel from psychogame's build and your bin coounter will increase (i've read someone talking about this issue).

Yup.
It will increase in numbers. I haven't seen it as i've never flashed the psychogame's kernel or any other thing that will increase the bin count. You'll lose warranty with increased count. To reset it to zero, you can use galaxy toolbox app.
A Hero Can Be Anyone.

i think flashing custom kernel via Odin will make the bin counter bigger than the previous?

It will increase by one. But I have heard this in only psychogame's kernel, not in percy's. You can reset it anyways.
You either die a hero or
live long enough to see
yourself become the villain.

My custome bin counter was increased, when i flashed merruk's kernels(1.8 & pre2.0) via odin, a long time ago . But i resetted it with Sir Doky's custom bin counter resetter.
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium

flashing whitexp's kernel also increase it.

well same is my case
i guess most of our kernels are built on stock samsung source with some moddifications
so our phone thinks its something official by samsung
After using galaxy y for 1.5 years i had lost all hope of increasing this bin count but psycho game came to the rescue
I flashed his given boot.tar with his cm7 and was shocked(positively) to see my bin count increased
Bin counts increased immediately on my s2 as soon as i flashed a custom kernel but i was rather sad that my galaxy y's bin counts dont increase
they have finally increased
my current bin count is 4
because i flashed that boot.tar 4 times

Give more details like what you have done ? What version you are using ? Rooted ? blah blah
If i had a penny for every time i heard this!
Dude use the search...
use dr ketans guide in sticky section devlopment.
flash a kernel that is appropriate for rom, stock or tw based for ics stock roms
cm9 or custom, as it says in first post of thread of kernel for aosp/aokp roms
if you are not flashing a rom but only kernel as you suggest that is.
However if you are flashing a rom, then it looks like you superbricked your phone. Probably by wiping or factory resetting your ics on a unsafe kernel, all stock roms.
in future provide more info, even if it feels irrelevent to the issue at hand, only then can the commubity help you better.
now if you superbricked, and you havent flashed anything yet use your samsung warrantee, if you have flashed search for methods in question and general threads on how to fix it

Welcome to the league. You are superbricked. Try using pit file+safe GB rom. If u have factory reset or wiped data being on an ICS or unsafe kernel, u r superbricked. Get to the hg42 guide asap. Good luck :good:

Sorry about your phone
I in no way regret having bought a S4. I swapped it for my old S2 and I haven't had a single problem yet :good:
CF-Root and CWM (Chenglu version) works perfect and so do Titanium Backup.
As far as I know S4 i9505 have been very difficult in the matter of getting proper root and recovery.
In such a case a good advice might be to hold back flashing a bit!
So to be honest to you ... I think you just did something you shouldn't have done and IMO you only have your self to blame!

my phone is an 9500
i think i do 1 error is to use this new flasher to flash phil recovery .
for all other thing i do that with s2 and s3 without any pbm.
a bad move this time i'll give it to SAV and see
CF-AUTO-ROOT is like the greatest and one of the most easiest way to get root, I don't understand why he didn't root it that way?

I don't understand what he is saying? computer to change? huh?
I'm very to new to all this (SGS4 is my first smartphone ever) and don't want a bricked phone. Just here to gain more knowledge.
ps To lighten things up a bit, I regret a lot of things as well, like my first 3 wives.:silly: JK
finally no regrets
I do nothing wrong the firmware of S4 is young and very buggy that is the pbm !!!
about recovery i am used with recovery of S2 and S3 the recovery of S4 is ridiculous it's very small you must use a magnifier for read it and after a wipe the droid is red and it's written no data !!!! that's worried me but when i see an untouched S4 i understand !!!
for some app going quickly in standby mode after 2 or 3 flash it's gone i think it's a bad flash the first time, i hope that not come back...
i hope a lot of update a lot of new firmware that's the only thing can solve the multiples bug of youth.
to resume the S4 is really a nice phone

[Q] some question for my first rom change

hi all this is my fist post for the s4 and i think someone will flame a bit for my noob level
im not completely noob in first case ,i had an hd2 for 3 year and changed all OS and Android roms like a paranoid for better performance and so on
i have by 2 months this fantastic phone s4 italian version i9505 not branded so i think its the same of all of u
now i tested it for long time in stock mode its come the time to try everything i can but i have lots of doubds watching all guides i found
first question...is there a step by step guide for flash a new rom? i found someone to change kernel with odin but i still dont understand how to install clockwork to the phone to install a rom
second question..as i come from hd2 it had to be unlocked from bootloader before u can install maglr or other stuff but i didnt see anything about this on the s4,i suppose its because its not needed but ask before brick its always a good way to proceed
i read about most of i found in noob sticked post but or i missed something or i really need to read again everything,if someone can link me a guide it will be very appreciated cos sometime i confuse things to do and in wich order
thx for everyone will give me any hint and sorry for my english hehe
first q
some roms have diffrent but for most this works
1,backup
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.install zip from sd card
4 chose zip from sd crd
5./0
6 chose rom and wait
7 reboot
nope in i9500 and i9505 im not 100% sure just 99% u can ask someone else
btw didnt understand well and sorry for my english my hands are oily can't type well

[Q] Reseting Binary Counter (I9500)

What up guys, so was thinking of finally rooting my phone and flashing all these beautiful roms, but my problem is that we can not reset the binary counter using ...or thats what i know. All I know is that triangle away isn't yet supported for the I9500 model and so my question is..does anyone know if there is an actual way to reset it or if anyone knows when Chainfire will release the compatible update.
Thanks
Stay Cool.

Thanks
Stay Cool.

No. there is no way till now to reset the binary counter
You can flash a pre rooted ROM via ODIn and it would not increase the counter and you would also have root

Dear ppl
The 9500 once you flash an official Rom the binary comes to official as it was no need for tringle away
But for the 9505 you need to.what till tringle away supported it

I guess you are wrong Buddy. You are talking about Device Status. We are talking about BInary Counter. There is No Way you can see the binary counter in I9500.

Well "dear" thats the status not the counter, the counter is when you install any not samsung recovery like cwm and install roms and stuff from there which will make the counter increase each time...

Due. You are confused. There are 2 things Device Status ( what you are talking about ) and Binary Counter ( what i am talking about )
What You are Saying that Is in regards to Device Status and Not Binary Counter,
Please Read through XDa to understand the Difference between the 2
And i am happy being a Human then a "Dear"

no - you do not need to replace bootloader files or repartition in odin - doing so could damage your device
you only need to include pda phone(modem) & csc

yes because you are flashing stock rom and kernel firmware - like I said - it will be like you switched the phone on for the first time
please search if you want more information
there are plenty of guides in the general section and on xda as a whole
