Steel wool? New look htc one? - One (M7) General

Hey is anyone with a htc one willing to rub it all over (except the glass) with some steel wool or something similar? The beveled edge looks great and shiny...
What would the one look like?
Worth a go or has anyone got any insight into why it wouldn't be a good idea...

Hi guys, would anyone mind running their one over with a car just to see how flat it could go?

i wanna see that too. ahahaha! i remember someone did that on the htc sensation before. i just dont know if its worth it on htc one. :laugh:

I could not imagine that it looks good, you would never get it like the edge I think ...

It would look brushed, but matte instead of shiny I reckon

Come back in a couple of years and they'll all look like that.

if you make it right, it will look like this:
Desire HD polished to chrome design

It probably isn't a terrible idea if you like the shiny look. I love the way my one looks now but if it were scratched up at all i would give it a shot.

I may not be familiar with this but on a personal POV. I don't like it It looks like one of those brandless china phones I see

If with this finish scratches up how long do you think it would last without scratches if it's polished to a mirror finish?

I wouldn't run wire wool over my £300 car with, let alone my One!

Maybe try it on a demo model in-store. Let us know how you get on

All you would have to do is buff the scratch back out. That is the great thing about metal.

Case for our new 3500mah batteries from ebay?

not the back cover that comes with it but a whole front and back case for 3500mah batteries.
I dont see them anywhere on ebay. strange as you think china would mold one up in a jiffy upon making a fat 3500mah battery.
Just got mine yesterday. So far so good. Not bad for 10 dollars. I use BodyGuardz to protect the main phone. Don't really care about the back cover since it's so cheap to replace anyways.
Has anyone found a good case option yet? I cut the back off my silicone case but would like a better case option

thats exactly what Im gonna do when my case arrives. I have a hard rubberized case that I tried modifying and its garbage now. doesnt snap together lol.
and no I wasnt looking for a screen protector either. My main concern is the corners of the phone and a nice big crack from not protecting them.
BG full-body kit. Covers all corners. Better than most cases. You guys are crazy to add a case on top of the extended battery. The EVO will look like Zack Morris' phone that way.

Probably should specify Body Guardz since BG can also stand for Body Glove which is a snap on case.
Thanks for clarifying.
Thought it was body glove.
Will b guardz protect impact though? Doesn't look it. Need something to spread impact force

Considering the fact that you are using a hefty 3500mah battery, I would guess that the phone would most likely land on it's back, where it is protected by cheap back cover it comes in. Who cares if that breaks?!
If the phone leaves your
hand spinning it will land wherever.
i Dont wanna risk it. And the extra weight just make impact worse
Oh and zack morris is the coolest kid ever lol

[MOD] G2/DZ battery door mod

So after having my g2 since February i decided it was time for a change. After looking around on xda for a bit i decided to do the polished battery door, which can be found here. i didnt polish mine as much because i like the brushed look a bit better. but then i wanted to do something with the HTC and G2 logos. best ide was to blacken them. i decided to also make a tutorial for anyone else who would like to.
step 1 - remove your battery door
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
step 2 - find a black crayon
step 3 - rub the crayon over the HTC and G2 logos. make sure to press hard while doing this to get the crayon deep into the logo
step 4 - get a plastic scrubby like this.
step 5 - gently rub off the excess crayon that you put on.
step 6 - polish the battery door with a micro fiber cloth.
if you have done all that you should end up with something that looks like mine in the pictures
Your pictures aren't showing up. Can't wait to see what it looks like
same problem. This seems like a cool idea but i would like to see the picture results first
*EDIT* i have put liks in each step for pics.

Looks cool, but wouldn't the crayon start to wipe and melt away? Is there any clearcoat added after?

Can try using plastidip clear.

That actually looks REALLY nice.. I would have never thought to use crayon to colour in the indentations, props to you. Thanks button hit.
I got some free time in a coupe days so maybe i'll do this. my battery door cover is pretty scratched up and i've been using the phone without a case on lately so this would make it look sweet.
Again, good job!
Thanks and I might see if I can find that plastidip stuff at home depot. And to clarify the only reason there are links instead of pics is because the pics would not show up.
*EDIT* i am in the proccess of do this over with more colors. should be up tomorow.

added a red version and fixed the pics issue somewhat.

A Nuukey bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone; I had seen one of these before online and thought if it could be some way retrofitted onto another phone. It was a
pretty lucky find in that I was able to inspect it hands on. I thought since I had blown all my money anyways, so why not try it. Here is what I have so far:

It's the one thing that I'm missing from my old HTC 8125 and 8525.
Ugh playing roms on those things was infinitely more fun when I had buttons to press.
Edit: Also, if anyone stumbles upon a keyboard that connects via usb rather than over Bluetooth, please share.
this is fantastic. now what you should do is pick up an extra battery cover and outfit the sliding joint to it. i wonder how hard that would be. i have been trying to figure out this exact mod for months

Youtube vid shows it on, slight modification necessary however. Definitely think I might do this once I have some money.
I think a USB keyboard in this form factor would be fantastic, less battery consumer, and it shouldn't be so hard with the USB-host support, I'm right?
Why we don't suggest it to Nuu?

I kind of like this idea, plus then you could use it in places where bluetooth might be prohibited. Also makes your phone less open having bluetooth off.

Well it's been two days and there is some bad news after sliding it back and forth the springs gave out and there is too much pressure being put on the slide plate causing it to bend. I'm going to have to modify how its mounted before releasing instructions; I dont want anyone wasting their time or money.

Spontaneous screen crack sg3

Hiya guys I've had the most interesting thing happen to my .sg3 yesterday. The only way to explain it is as a spontaneous screen crack! My phone just cracked by itself!! Yes without a lie! It's the most microsceptic crack I've seen and after a few minutes looking at it i decided to measure the location and it's exactly in the middle of the panel! No one believes me and people think I'm stupid. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I've done some research and have found that other Samsung phones have done this but there isn't allot of info about it.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
probably because of the curved glass. Curved things tend to bend when they reach certain point. the gorilla glass 2 being thinner than its predecessor should crack easier especially when bent. Send it back to Samsung, the crack seems natural and is a Samsung fault rather
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe you. My friends AMOLED screen crached but the glass was perfectly fine on his Droid RAZR. It was extremely weird and did not make any bit of sense.
Well see the thing is i didn't even move from my desk at work when this happened! It's so so strange. What would be the best way of contacting Samsung about this , because atm I've talked to official Samsung repair people and they all say I'm crazy and 3 just told me I'm a liar and that i broke it on purpose. Can you describe how you did this and or sell a kit? This would make me feel better about pre-ordering a silver One.
Surely OP will deliver!
Im a part time graphics designer and have access to a vinyl plotter and endless types of vinyl. So i got to work by creating a template of the front/back for the plotter, loaded the matt black vinyl and let the plotter do the rest.
The hard part was measuring every aspect of the fone, as you can see for the front camera n sensors I got the measurements slightly wrong.
In the future i would love to try carbon fiber vinyl on this.

I don't care about black or silver.
The main thing is, the surface is not shiny.
That's why I always liked the phones from HTC (my One is on the way )
would you be willing to start making more of these and selling them?!
I think a matte sky blue...a la Volvo's blue in their performance line...but matte or satin would look amazing on the One.
