I have a N7 that is stock rooted. It has TWRP installed and I would like CWM on it as I'm more comfortable with it, can I just flash CWM or will it cause problems?
just flash the recovery image with fastboot and you'll be fine
You can also do it directly from ROM Manager App. Just select what recovery you want and reboot.

Just rooted my N7 on 4.2.2 but can't boot into recovery. I just get the "no command" screen. I flashed twrp with the Nexus Root Toolkit and everything seemed to go fine but I can't boot into recovery. Is there another way to flash a custom recover?
Thanks!

fastboot flash recovery recovery-image-file-name.img
while in boot loader mode.
Please use the forum search capability.

you probably booted, not flashed the recovery. fastboot flash it via fastboot with the instructions above. or, to make it even easier, download the goo manager app. you can flash twrp recovery with the app. open the app, press the settings option, press install openrecoveryscript, press yes, then let it do its thing.

Read the download instructions at the bottom. Have you done that step?
The stock recovery will be restored on boot otherwise. It's the same procedure for any recovery (CWM) not just TWRP.

I successfully rooted and unlocked the bootloader on my WiFi only nexus 7. Running 4.2.2. Downloaded Rom manager and while trying to create a recovery I get an error that says "error while downloading from server. Please make sure you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space.
Also I tried using recovery manager and it won't download the recovery file. Also when I try to boot in recovery mode I get the android with the red triangle. I renamed the boot to recovery file also. Any help would be great!
That is why I prefer to do things manually instead of using ROM Manager, GooManager, Recovery Manager, Nandroid Manager, etc.
I got it to work by using recovery tools. Now I have flashed paranoid android. It didn't flash the Google market app. How do I add that now?

ROM Toolbox has a recovery installer that includes TWRP. Just run the install; it'll overwrite current recovery.
It's under Tools - ROM Management - Recovery

I don't recommend using an app to install a custom recovery. I've seen too many reports of people bricking their device with it.
It's just as easy to use a simple tool to do it...this is the one I prefer:

It lets you pick TWRP or CWM and will do the whole thing for you.
If you use rom manager or goo manager ONLY for putting a recovery on it works pretty well. It's when you use it to flash roms is when you can get into trouble. I'd recommend deleting it after getting your recovery. It's too easy to play with it and find the wrong rom for your device. Especially for someone new to flashing.
Do i need TWRP recovery to flash SplitView ported from LG Flex or i can simply flash it via stock recovery? If i install TWRP recovery, can i go back COMPLETELY later to the stock?
You can't flash any zips without custom recovery, so yes you need to flash twrp. Also to get back stock it should be as easy as flashing a kdz file

thank you, but how ? should i make backup about the recovery before installing TWRP?
You should be fine by just flashing twrp, no need for backup
You just need a custom recovery like cwm or twrp
Hello everyone! Think that I did something kinda stupid today..but not sure. I have installed cwm recovery (philz version, latest) but today I was transfering over a backup to my pc (I removed it from phone to pc), well that was what I thought..(the file was TWRP, since it was a twrp nandroid backup and I had twrp before cwm) so later, when I tried to go to recovery, I couldn't, I tried with FreeGee, but nothing happened...so does this mean that I have lost my recovery? I tried to put the files back on phone where they was but it doesn't seem like that have helped...
So any other methods to get into recovery mode? And have I lost it by deleting a twrp file containing a backup and a twrps. file on 2kb?
P.s when I look into the TWRP folder, I don't have the twrps file....is that the problem, and what is that file? Is it loki or something?
P.S 2: My phone is working fine..
Anyone?
If you're still rooted, you could install Goo Manager, which will allow you to install a recovery.

I do have root, and I am running cloudystock 1.2 (kitkat), but can I just install a recovery since I am on a stock kitkat rom? Think I have done it now.....
What ROM did you have when you first installed cwm?
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I had stock 4.2.2 rom when I first installed recovery, but I overwrited my twrp recovery and installed cwm (that too on stock 4.2.2 rom
Try installing Quick Boot (free in the Play Store.) It provides an easy way to boot into recovery. This should show whether CWM or TWRP are still on your phone.
