Repairability? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

So I was reading an article that the glass would be very difficult to fix. If I were to have broken the glass just a little and not the touch screen part, would it be true I'd have to get the whole thing fixed. If so, I feel the cheapest way to fix it would be Samsung for 169.99.

Gap between top bezel and glass

Is this the way the phone is supposed to be? There's a small gap between the top part of the bezel where it meets the glass. I try to keep my phone clean all the time but there are quite a few lint pieces and grime stuck in that gap. The bottom of the phone is tight. Never dropped it. It is an RMA

I think you can snap it back. Press it gently and it'll close.

Tried pressing on it. Didn't work. Thanks though

As you can see the bottom is tight with no gap. The top has a big enough gap for dirt and debris and no way to get it out.

Definitely not normal, you should probably RMA again if you can't fix it by simple means like the one posted above

I have no gap on the top or bottom, and neither do any of the 5 others I know with N4s so yeah, RMA.
send that gaping gap back, son!
...before you get tiny creature eggs in them
Called google play customer service and started the RMA process. Thanks guys

Not going well with my RMA. This was customer service response :
"Thanks for contacting Google. The*specialists*has informed me that the*gaps are to allow for expansion of the glass due to varying temperature and is an intended part of the design.
If you have any*further*questions please feel free to*respond*to this email."
Can some of you guys take some photos of your phones so I can send this robot? Any other suggestions?

Dude, I think even with photos, you would be hard pressed to change their mind. Cosmetic faults are always put down as subjective and not worthy of replacement. You should have told them that you were experiencing some technical fault i.e. frequent dropped calls.
If you aren't successful this time round, RMA it again with such an excuse...

I have the same issue but my gaps are much bigger and go throughout the whole screen. Dust and stuff goes in it. The front camera has a dark overlay whenever i use it due to all the dust that has gotten in there. I would RMA it but i bought it off a friend and im not sure if they want to accept it.
Here is a picture of a white door that i took outside using the front camera.

Its very dark and it has a weird dark overlay at the top.

Scratch on nexus 4!! Heart broken!!

Guys, I got my nexus 4 a few days ago any it's been awesome!! Today I dropped my phone any it got scratched!! The scratch is slightly noticeable when the screen is on and very bright! I can also see a rainbowish effect (very very small) when the screen is on!! Is there any way to hide this scratch!! Please please help me out!!! Thank you!!

Please ignore the typos!

Don`t think you can hide it with a screen protector, but you could try. Maybe it will look a bit better. Best way would be to have the screen replaced. Didn`t you use a case or bumper? It is a glassy phone proned to shatter on impact.
Did you even try Google? If it's not as bad as the one in the linked guide, just cover it with a scratch protector and you won't be able to notice it.
Alright, I am using a poetic borderline with my nexus, I ordered a nillkin screen protector... Hope it works!!!

Okay, the screen protector turned out to be matte and it just made the scratch look worse. Ordering a wet install screen protector soon.. Any idea if they will work?? I can feel the scratch when I run my finger nails over it and it is clearly visible outdoors!!

Galaxy S4 chrome paint suggestions?

Helloel everyone,
I tried searching to no avail. I have dropped my phone and had to sand down the front chrome bezel. I would prefer not to replace it.
Can anyone direct me to a specific model paint that matches? I bought a chrome paint but it's pebbled.
Model numbers would be awesome.
Thanks in advance

Sorry, I have not heard of any.
But is it insured or under warranty? If is is maybe you could get it replaced for free.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately I dropped the phone and it dented the bezel. I don't think it is warrantied.
Thanks for the reply.
I tried a silver model paint which looked promising..but it didn't stick. I also tried X-11 paint but it was too "speckly".
My last option is the chrome spray paint. I will be spraying it onto a plate and using small brushes to transfer it to the bezel. Will keep the forum posted.

I'm also looking to fix the small chips on the chrome part of my Note 2 before giving it to my mum. Gonna buy some paint from Halfords and see what happens. Damn plastic.

[Q] New frame needed

Damn, managed to drop it. The screen protector saved the screen but the chrome plastic frame is a mess. Does anyone know where to get a replacement chassis from - uk?
thanks
Since the phones barely been released yet it will probably be a little while before parts are. Can't even get a decent case yet.

tempered glass screen protectors???

Hey forum, I just got a s7 edge and am in the market for a tempered glass screen protector.
I've hit Amazon and ebay, scammed through pics and reviews from customers and it looks like there's little to none that cover the whole screen (edges included) that are durable, adhere well and stick to the screen and if there case friendly that would be nice.... If anyone has any they'd recommend Id appreciate it.

Its to hard make them out of glass because the screen is curved. Ive haven't seen any that have gotten good ratings. A few companies like zagg have them on the way. Zagg invisible shield is my go to protector. I'm sure there are a lot of great protectors I have not tried.

Right, I've searched up and down, far and wide... All have flaws right now. I'm waiting for the zagg one, I'm Pretty sure it's gonna be legit. The luvviitt one seems alright right now but there out of stock. In the meantime I'm using a zagg invisi shield.
Thanks for the reply bud appreciate it.

Don't hold your breath for a curved glass protector, it's not going to be good. I tried two of them already lol. This damn edge screen is a curse, but I love the phone.

What Samsung needs to do is address the size of the edge screen slide or allow the option to resize

Or they could just remove it altogether. It serves no purpose for most.

Why buy the Edge if you are not interested in that feature? Why not the S7? Just curious

Don't waste your money on "tempered glass" protector. I've had two different brands and both of them lifted off the phone and cracked. None of them seem to be case friendly.

Hey papa mag, by Amy chance have you received the taken temp glass yet? I'm eager to hear what you half to say about it, this normal screen protector stuff isn't too bad but I'm eager to get my hands on a temp glass that is half decent, the zagg one should drop next month from what I hear.

Yes I did and it was a piece of cake to apply. Unfortunately I was stupid and in too big of a rush to put my case back on. I noticed that one corner of my case was hung up and while trying to fix that issue I cracked the screen protector.
I will say that it lined and matched up perfectly no issues with touch sensitivity the edge feature is less responsive. Do to my own stupidity I have another glass on the way.

F that bro. You'll be just spending money on screen protectors. I still have my Zagg shield that I had to literally cut every single corner in, in order for any of my cases to fit properly. Sucks to not have tempered glass I love it but I rather have my edges. Im looking forward to the note 6. Rumored 4000 MAh battery, and two variants. Everyone including myself will take a note with spen and the beauty of the edge screen along with s7 edge features(water resistant/SDcard). Next year there bringing out the BIG GUNS. With foldable phones. Seeing people really liked the edge I believed Samsung is ready now, back when they revealed the concept(S3) it wouldn't be a good idea, now tho im sure they perfected the technology and were ready for what will bring out next.

I got the Taken Screen protector today. Let's just say I feel "Taken". Protector went on ok and that wasn't the issue. It was a fingerprint/palm print/smudge magnet. It was so bad that I thought there was a protective cover plastic on the glass. Sadly there wasn't. There is a thin piece of sticky adhesive around the inside of the glass that is used to adhere the protector to the phone. This made a crinkly sound anytime you pressed where the adhesive was. After 15 minutes, my screen was naked again.
