I finally rooted and have my go to apps and mods I use, and one of them is the Google gears boot animation, but when attempting to locate the file to replace I noticed that it's not named the same as it was on the S3 and not sure what to replace or if it is possible. Any ideas?

Im running CM6 and running into problems. I have done the push and pull on advanced and terminal. I ended up with no boot screen just the white screen with HTC evo 4g. So I tried and bought root explorer. I did rename the zips to bootanimation.zip and tried 2 seperate ones and can't get it to work.
I dis a nand restore and got the roms boot screen back up. Then I looked at where was said to put the zip and none of them had the zip. Just the /system/media has it. I was told to put it in /data/local/, /system/media, /system/custom. Each place I read was different. So I tried all three. Since I did a recover I don't have /system/custom anymore.
Anyways I looked through every folder and /system/media is the only one that had the zip. So I put a "f" after the zip when I renamed and didn't delete it if something goes wrong. I placed my custom one I downloaded of the sticky. Reboot and it had a boot screen different than the one I installed. Saidel android with a light glare going across the words. Deleted the custom zip and changed old zip back. Have no bootscreen now.

I can't seem to get my custom boot screens to work. When I do advanced or terminal I get no errors or anything.. everything goes smooth like butter to I try to see if it works and never does. Is this a problem with cm6? Anyone else on cm6 have a custom bootscreen to work? Are there certain ones that work only on 2.2 or 2.1? I tried the android pissing on the iPhone apple and the dancing android. Both didn't work. Still have no boot screen other than the white evolution 4g one.

I tried the bootanimation.zip for the Droid that he had on the post using adb. That worked the first time. Not sure why the other 2 wouldn't work but now have a boot screen

I'm trying to install the default boot animation. I believed I placed it in the proper folder (/system/media) but after rebooting all I see is the default android boot animation.

Unfortunately not :/ Placing it there didn't work.
I used to do this all he damn time on my atrix 4g but have completely forgot the procedure. I remember having to find where the current boot animation was located and renaming it to what the old one was called. Then the system would recognize it as the same file and use it
I decided for a lark to test out some alternate boot animations. I downloaded a likely app which dutifully backed up the original before installing a new one. Played around with various animations before restoring the stock one.
Now on boot, the stock animation runs, but I no longer hear the boot sounds. I have confirmed the sound file is in the right spot and is playable. Any suggestions on how to fix things?
Never mind, I googled it and fixed it.

I tried to use live dmesg lite to change my boot animation, this failed and I ended up in a boot loop. Some recovery adb fiddling later and I've got a bootable Nexus 10 again, which is great, but now I have no boot animation at all. I noticed that since I told live dmesg to uninstall the animation I have no /system/bin/bootanimation file at all.
If I want the animation back would it be as straight forward as replacing that file? If so, is there anyone here who could provide it? If not, what do I need to do?
Here's a link for the original animation. Just adding the boot animation file should work, I presume. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1MWexkzYR_bcG96UVJhTzl1MEk/edit?usp=docslist_api

I lost my boot animation !! I tried to mod the bootanimation and accidentally used the bootanimation4u.zip found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280).
I now have no boot animation and it does not seem to want to take any .zip file I place in the Media or Local folders.
Thoughts?
Are you running stock ROM?

Have you verified the boot animation.zip permissions to be rw-r--r-- ?

Hi, this is my first post on xda.
My problem:
I have a Nexus 4, running stock 4.4.3, from an OTA zip.
Yesterday, I was browsing through playstore, i came across anim mod app by JRummy Inc. I downloaded it. I read it alters something in the framework section.
I tried various window transition animations and decided to go back to stock. So i pressed android stock, it set the animations. I deleted that app and then rebooted. On reboot, some custom transition animations were still there. Also, I noticed that appinfo is also not working. Whenever I drag an app to app info, it says "settings has stopped working".
What I did next is this. I went to /system/framework and opened framework-res.apk the 4.4.3 version the app installer was installing it and said app not installed after like 30 secs.
So I copied a 4.4.2 framework-res.apk and replaced the 4.4.3 version. The moment I did it, the phone crashed and began to reboot. It was stuck at boot anim. I force-switched it off and went to recovery mode. Installed a backup of 4.4.2 /system.
It went fine. Still appinfo problem. Went back to 4.4.3. Again the same thing. Rest all settings.apk is ok.
Another thing is, now framework-res.apk aka "Android System" shows in downloaded apps. Maybe thats causing problems. I tried uninstalling it. But it causes the phone to be stuck at boot anim.
Also, appinfo shows up only for Android System app. For others it fcs.
app installer also fcs.
If i flash complete stock 4.4.2 with radio, boot img, etc all... will it work?
I know I have done even what a noob won't do.(no offence).
Please help me on this!
Nexus 4- now- stock rooted 4.4.3 stock kernel.

Also, if i paste, it means delete old and copy new... So just after pasting, the phn reboots and gets stuck at boot anim. Beacuse it reboots before i could change the permissions.
