Please link to the root guide you followed. After you rooted did you do anything else to the phone? You can try downloading the .apk file for the google play store. There are guides online to install .apk files manually.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/04/25/download-latest-google-play-store-4-0-27/

I used the motochopper method. I have since installed titanium backup pro but I had this problem before installing that.

You may want to try restoring to factory with Kies and trying again.

Having already rooted wont effect a factory reset? Have you rooted your S4 using the same method?

I am actually restoring my rooted phone with Kies right now. I can confirm after its done that there weren't any issues. There is a disclaimer in Kies saying there may be issues if your phone is rooted.

Where did you find that option in kies?

With your phone plugged in go to Tools > Upgrade firmware
And mine just finished successfully.

Remember you can delete busybox and su in your system directory to unroot your phone before you system restore in Kies.

I personally testing it and it works. The method to return the status from "Custom" to "Official" while keeping root was very nice.

Install busybox installer from the market and install/update busybox. See if that fixes your issues. Also try installing SuperSu from the market, opening it, and updating su binary when it opens.
Did you run the busybox free app?

I installed busybox installer and when I try to install/update it says it failed. As for SuperSu, it doesn't give me an option to update the su binary.

I ran busybox free and it says it's unable to verify whether or not certain utilities needed for this app to run are present and functional on my device. This problem could be caused by a device that is not properly rooted or by superuser settings that are misconfigured

Likely not but thought i'd ask - Did you update to 4.1.1 after initially rooting?

Did you have the apps that use root before you rooted? I've noticed with some apps (that work with and without root) sometimes dont register that root is installed on your device so perhaps you should try redownloading them from the play store.

When you take an update it unroots your device. Re-root it with the tool and you'll be fine.

He should've used voodoo over the air rootkeeper to back up n save his root. So once you update, you can easily restore rot with one click in that app instead of having to use roottoolkit again.

[Q] root for JDQ39.19505XXUBMEA

My new Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-19505 is running build JDQ39.19505XXUBMEA (android 4.2.2).
I haven't found anything on this build number with regards to rooting, so I'm wanting to be a little cautious before I attempt anything.
Any pointers on what tools / options I might attempt to use to root this?

Flash CF-Root with Odin and you`re rooted. Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803, read the OP well and it will be easy.
Thanks for your quick reply!
If I'm reading things properly, that will root my device & reset it to factory defaults (ie: wipe it). Correct?

No, it will only root it, you will not loose any data. After that flash a custom recovery if you need it and Busybox from Google Play,

There won't be any changes but root will be extra it won't wipe anything and u need not factory reset also
.
I tried it, and I'm not sure if it worked or not.
I have a a new SuperSU icon, but when I open it SuperSU tells me that the binary needs updating.
When I try to update it though it comes up with "Installation failed!"
Did the root fail? Is there something wrong with SuperSU? I'm not sure what's going on :s

Close all apps, reboot and try again to update the binaries. Have you checked for an update of the SU app in Google Play?
There was an update, which I have installed.
I also just installed Root Checker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en) which tells me I am not rooted

Open the SU app and unroot and try rooting again by flashing CF-Root. Do you have usb debugging enabled on the phone in developer options?
I have debugging enabled.
I tried re-rooting, and now have no SU app at all
Very confused. This should be a simple process.

[Q] Can i Unroot my LG G2 with SuperSU?

Hi,
Yesterday i downloaded SuperSU to my phone, and i delete it (i dont know why ) and after i delete it (from the Settings, not simple Uninstall)
i did Restart to my phone, and i saw that my SuperUser gone, but i still have ROOT access, all of my apps that need Rooted device worked.
After while, i read the discription and i saw that it should be like this, and that SuperSU switch SuperUser, so i downloaded it again.
So lets go to the point:
If i have stock ROM and stock Recovery, i can do Full Unroot from the SuperSU Settings? as i said, all completely stock, only ROOTED device, LG G2 D802.
I can do it without any problems? for sure?
Thank you so much !

I did with the same set-up as you and it worked fine. I lost my root access and tested with skygo which is very particular about not working with root and I could stream again using this.
I have supersSU pro which may make a difference.

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve? I was referring to having a stock rom and recovery installed before rooting the device to perform some tweeks then unrooting it again. The reason that I unrooted again was so that I could use skygo which requires an un-rooted device. I have moved onto the G3 now but, as far as I can remember, the only way to return to a stock recovery is to return your device to completely stock by flashing a kdz. If you tell me exactly what you are trying to achieve I may be able to be of more help.

My phone still says root in download mode and cannot run LG software update. I have stock ROM and recovery. Others say they have the same problem but no replies. Can anyone help?
I'm curious too. What I did was used Super User and did that "Clean Unroot" method and after I pressed it, it cleared and the app was gone. But, I had a back up of my stock before doing this and deleted all other roms and downloaded all my pics and wallpapers to my computer. But I don't know if I'm unrooted. How would I check that? I can still go to the play store and install Superuser, is that normal or shouldn't it not install?
There's another method which involves installing the LG flash tool, and a Stock factory firmware. Should I do that method or am I fine with the Superuser?

Yes, it says frozen but it's really not.
Titanium Backup says i have root already, and Greenify says the same thing.
But MyBackup Pro refuses to freeze anything neither, and Autostarts says i don't have root.
I'm confused.:crying:
Try uninstalling app on your phone, reinstall the Regular version, open it up, then go install the pro, open it up. Let me know if that doesn't work.
May not help but, have you got into developer settings and ticked usb settings? Use to have to do that on my s4 when using titanium..

Supersu unroot didnt work for me. I tried that and didnt look for root permissions before updating(dumb idea).
The update failed so i had to volume down + power to get out of it. Now i dont have the update available. :crying:
The failure could be totally unrelated though.
I have to admit... The fact that they are updating the FW on a nearly monthly scale, proves the level of commitment to this phone by Asus. I am so glad I chose it over the OPO.
Same here, I used this guide to root: http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=9340
I did the unroot procedure with SuperSU before running the update, restarted my phone, tried using the OTA update and after going into recovery it just says "Error". After panicking a bit, I restarted the phone manually, fortunataly I was able to boot again but now I can't update. I don't even see the update as available anymore. As root, all I did was uninstalling some bloatware. What can I do?
