Hi everyone,
I would like to restore my nandroid backup (from my N4) on another Nexus 4. Both Nexus 4 are running CyanogenMod 10.1 so unlocked bootloader + rooted + CWM recovery.
So I would like to know if I can restore it without any problem ? Should I have to check the md5sum ?
Thank's by advance
Don't see why it shouldn't work, but if its just the data you need why don't you use Titanium Backup?

Your backup is still in the old place (where pre-4.2 saved it). As 4.2 has multi-user support you now see /sdcard/0/xxx which CWM doesn't see
So how would we go about restoring it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
TWRP won't backup because apparently 'sdcard is not mounted'. The Nexus 7 runs on an emulated sdcard storage, so how do I get about doing a nandroid through TWRP?
try reflashing twrp i dont think it should behave that way

Make sure you're using the latest TWRP version.

A settings reset did the job - backup went smoothly without complications after that. Thanks for the help!
I have a 16gb nexus 4. I rooted my phone a few weeks ago and decided to DL flash cm 10.1 to my phone yesterday. But, it got stuck in a boot loop and I restored to the android backup I had.
The problem is, now my storage says only 435 mb free, but I had around 6gb free before. I have no idea what caused this or how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Nandroid backups?

I don't think it's that. I only have one backup and it says it's only a few megabytes.

Oh I misunderstood you, it is showing that you have 16gb its just that a lot of it is missing.
I would try deleting unneeded nandroids, especially if they are CWM as they don't get saved somewhere you can use a simple file manager to get to I don't think.
Also try clearing cache and davlik cache, if this doesn't work, I think you'll have to back up apps and factory reset through recovery.

But the nandroids are only 7.38 mbs. I don't think they are the cause of the problem. I was researching the problem online and I think it might be the lost.dir folder, but I can't find it.

there's something wrong then. a nandroid will NEVER be 7.38mb
Wait, I think you're right. The nandroid back up I made on my computer says 5gb. But, which system folder is it in on my phone?

Thank you so much.
I found it, deleted it, and got my space back.
But that leads me to another question. If I don't have a backup on my phone, how will I restore? Because yesterday, I was in a boot loop, and the ADB connection wouldn't work. The only reason I could restore was because I had the nandroid back up on my phone already.

If you were in a bootloop, get into recovery and choose sideload. Then you can push a rom file and flash it. Or you could just not remove the recovery. TWRP nandroid take less space.
I see. I just used CWM because I read that they were better. I'm still new at all of this. Thank you. You've been very helpful.

I'll probably be installing this as soon as my tablet gets in, seeing how well my phone (d2can; running d2att) has been taking CM10.2. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Sweet. Thanks for letting us know. I'm flashing it right now =)
Is a full wipe required, coming from 10.1?
Just installed and it appears that the ROM doesn't think I've got root access, I can't even do anything that requires root. When I go and restore my backup of cleanrom 1.3 I've got root access again

You have to move your tiBU folder onto legacy/ from 0/
Look at my screenshot. Go to Preferences and set your backup folder to this location... Minus the /!Ready2Flash/TitaniumBackup part. That's my personal folder location.

I don't know about the app you mentioned, but there were a couple of apps in the N4 Apps & Themes forum which did this - but it seems they work for 4.3 only.
As mentioned, there are apps which work via Exposed framework which will do what you are looking for (though bear in mind Exposed needs the Dalvik not Art, runtime).
Another good option is to try some ROMs - most of the popular ones have extensive UI customisation, such as battery, clock, navigation bar (the one at the bottom).
Download a ROM and its Gapps (eg AICP ROM and its Gapps, which I use and I can recommend, it's a good place to start)
Reboot into recovery.
Backup your current ROM (creates an image you can restore if you don't like the new ROM)
Wipe: data/system/cache/dalvik. NOT internal storage
Install the ROM and its Gapps
Reboot and begin to setup your phone
If you have Titanium Backup Pro or similar, you can restore all your user apps and data to the new ROM. Generally not recommended to restore system apps or data.
It may sound like a lot of effort to get a battery icon, but you also get a better ROM (faster, better battery and highly customisable UI). With the backup you took, if you don't like your new ROM, all you need to do is:
Go into Recovery,
Wipe data/system/dalvik/cache
Restore the backup
Reboot
