Under Settings/Developer options you can change your device hostname.
If you can't find the Developer options menu, you have to unlock it, go to About Tablet menu and tab on Build Number 7 times.

I believe you have to be rooted to do this on the nexus 7 this way, as i am unrooted and it doesnt show in my developer options either. However you can do it using terminal emulator as well but that might also require root. Really should be a stock option, having to root just to change a hostname is a little ridiculous.
Okay just checked
> su
> getprop net.hostname
> setprop net.hostname <new_hostname>
So yea it would require su, unless someone can post a way to do this easily you might be SOL.
hostname gets reset on reboot
hi, I am using that set of commands to change the hostname but I have noted that it's getting reset on reboot. What could be the problem?

If you notice on 4.3 jelly bean there is no developer option where u can switch on usb debugging in settings under the More tab, I discovered in order to make it appear, you go to settings -> More tab -> About Device, then tap on Build number a few times, you will see a message, continue tapping on Build number till it says Developer Options Activated/Enabled, press back and you will see Developer Options in the list.
This also allows you to access your phones internal storage on the pc & also allows you to remove the device when disconnecting from your pc.

If there is no option in settings, try downloading apk installer in play store. Also if you tap the build section under about device 7 times it will open developer options, may be the option in there

D Opps : [email protected]
123456 and 7890 try these.
MCU Codes
These codes can be entered when accessing the Factory Settings menu item
• m123456 - opens Factory Settings in "super" mode -- makes another option visible; Launcher type (not sure what they mean though)
• adbon - seems to enable adb on the usb port. Might enable it for all usb ports (haven't tested it yet)
• *#hct#root# - enables persistent root adb on usb port(s) (might be an easy way to root roms, will have to do some testing)
• adboff - disables adb on usb port(s)
• keject - simulates the eject button for the DVD drive
• kpower - simulates the power button
• hcttouch - displays information about the touchscreen/calibration?
• hctbtup - some sort of bluetooth update mechanism?
• hctbtte0-9,0-9,0-9 - some sort of bluetooth testing code -- after the hctbtte there should be 3 digits, ranging from 0-9. Haven't looked into their meaning.
I hope this'd help

I can't open the quick settings menu from the notification center and can't really do much. Only interact with already installed apps. I can't hange the user, I can't enable developer options I can't save the files via USB and neither does adb work.
I never worked with a Motorola, do you have any idea what I could try?

Obviously, they're just the options for you to turn off (that are on by default, which means, even without developer options on, they're still on in the background).
any help here?

Help with what? You have been given the answer.
If you don't want that option appears you have to do a factory reset and never activate it I guess.

that's the same as disable it in About phone > Dev options, since it resets any modification (such as ADB Debugging).

Yeah but what I understand is that he doesnt want to see never more that option.
If you are rooted:
1. use a file manager like Mixplorer
2. go to /data/system/users/0/
3. open settings_global.xml file in a text editor
4. search for "development_settings_enabled", it will find a line with value=1 (if you did enable dev options, obviously)
5. change the value to 0
6. reboot
Remember that before you change the line, you have to set all the settings you want, don't disable Dev Options, then follow the steps I said. Reboot and the settings you enabled before will keep, but Developers Options will hide.
If your device isn't rooted, unfortunately I can't help you.
I confirm it's working since I disabled animations and they kept disabled after reboot.

Just clear setting's data and cache.
Simple
Having an issue with hiding the status bar, no option in any of the settings menu or system menu. The system is not rooted so using most apps to enable immersive mode is non-functional, they also have apps that require no root but the keyboard won't work or it only hides the status bar for the home screen and no all the apps also I have no idea how to adb into the head unit. Wanted to see if anyone here had any clue on a fix or have had the dame issues and has a workaround. Thank you in advance.
I have a new PX5 Android 10
PBX80JCCLTrying to enable developer options, I tap the Build number 7 times and more and it does nothing.
I've tried many things and still nothing.
System is original and not rooted.
I need to see my usb settings and possibly change them.
Can I enable with terminal emulator?
Anyone have any ideas?
