A few things have been really annoying me a bout the S4 and for me it has been a security risk and annoyance.
Where is the personal dictionary for the keyboard?
How can I wipe it?
How can I prevent it picking up new words?
Thank you for your time to read and answer.
Go to applicaiton manager, select samsung keyboard and clear all data, that should do it.

Has anyone attempted to lock down the Tab? Lock down in terms of limiting application downloads, systems changes etc. I am looking to roll the Tab out to my sales department but I wouldn't trust these guys with potato gun much less this thing. However, the boom to business appears very significant with its addition. I have every practical application that they could need and a bit more on my test model. The problem I think I'll find is when they attempt to add applications to the Tab and possibly brick the thing. Am I hoping for too much or does this seem sensible? Thanks for the help, cheers.
Wouldn't it simply be a case of using adb to rename Vending.apk so the Market is inaccessable (as well as renaming the Samsung Apps application if applicable)? It would be possible to undo it, but it would be very difficult for a novice android user.
You can use "app lock" to put a password on the apps you don't want them to use and you can lock the installer and market with a password.
You don't have to worry about bricking a device from installing an app on the market though, it would take alot more than that to brick the device.
KG4's advice is good, but that would still allow them to transfer items to the SD card and install if they wanted to. Best bet would be to password the installer.
Thanks for the help guys. The next hard part is training the sales department on how to use the thing. It shouldn't be that bad. 'Shouldn't' is the key word here.
Cheers!
I've got Samsung Galaxy Tab and original Samsung Keyboard Dock. However since I'm Thai sometimes I need to type in Thai as well. since Samsung default keyboard did not support typing in Thai .I need to buy keyboard software for my Tab. Typing with new keyboard software works great with dock in both languages however every time I connect tab with my dock it always change back to Samsung default keyboard, also if the blacklight are gone I need to change keyboard every single time when I turn Galaxy Tab again. So is there any chance to disable or to modify some setting for disabling the default keyboard? I tried to search in many places with no joy at all.
My machine already rooted so if there is a necessary change in system it can be done easily.
Thank you in advance
You can delete the Samsung keyboard with Titanium Backup - start Titanium Backup, go to the Samsung keyboard app and delete it.
No clue, if this fixes your problem - please do not blame me, if this has not the effect you want to have
I use a custom keyboard too and deleted the Samsung keyboard without any problem.
I may suggest you to FREEZE the keyboard with Titanium Backup. It's always a good choice when "deleting" system applications, that may render the system unstable or unusable.
Once you are completely sure that the tab is fine without the stock keyboard in freeze mode, you can them delete it.

My problem is solved! Thanks to both of you . I just simply uninstall the Samsung Keyboard because the freeze option is not available in free version and I can't simply buy the apps from the market. I haven't got market access yet. But will donate that great software soon!
I am so happy right now. No problem at all with my Galaxy Tab!
Hi all,
First, I am new to this Android thing and I don't know where else to post a such question.
But anyway, now on to my question.
I understand that rooting my device may brake the warenty, but if there is some other solution to the below problem, that would be great!
I am visually impaired and therefor me and others who are in the same situation rely on screen reading software, such as Spiel and Talkback that already exists in the market and they can be activated in the accessibility preferences of the phone after they have been installed.
In order for them to work, some text-to-speech engine has to be installed and the voice data for that as well, like Espeak.
The phones we have to use are the ones with physical qwerty keyboards and the ones that have physical arrow keys or a trackball. But now to my question.
Each time I have to do a factory reset of my Samsung Galaxy 5510 I must get someone sighted help me set up my Google account and then I can login to the market and install Spiel/Talkback and with some assistance enable the accessibility preferences.
This is really anoying. SO my question is, would it be possible to integrate these programs into some rom or maybe backup the phone so that I can restore it from a PC or maybe with some application that can be launched from the phone and then I select the image file, like a backup program and then all my settings are back.
I really apologize if this is the wrong forum, but any help is really apreciated since I know that several others are facing the same problem.
What do you think?
Could this be something to look at?
may I ask why you are doing a factory reset so often?
or do you just mean you upgrade to a new rom?
anyway, it should be really easy to have these apps installed by default in any rom. I doubt they would work in the setup procedure but you could skip the setup and then add your accounts later, when the text to speech apps are running.
No, I am not upgrading the ROM and I am not doing a hard reset that often, BUT, if i would have to do that it would be great if the screen reader service, such as Spiel could be launched by default and I don't know if this phone can be upgraded.
My S5 learns my mistyped AND correctly typed words, and stores them somewhere on the S5. I want to remove the mis spelled words within the Personal Dictionary, but I cannot find it.
On my Samsung S3, it was obvious how to edit my Personal Dictionary, but on the S5, not so much. I've tried to use Swift Key as a keyboard, Google Voice typing, Samsung keyboard, but none of them allow me to see the Personal Dictionary, wherever it is mysteriously stored.
Anyone know how I can edit this dictionary? As an example, my Personal Dictionary now includes the word " youre ", so every time I now SWIPE your, it chooses youre, not your. Examples abound, and I'm getting tired of it. I've spent a fair bit of time in the " Predictive Text " section, and I can clear all the Personal Data/dictionary, but that would clear all my learned correct words too, so I really don't want to clear everything, just the mis spelled words.
Some how single character suggestions (and auto correcting) are coming up, like 'H" and "W." How can I manually delete these one off suggestions? The only way I see is to wipe the entire cache which will lose a lot of the correctly predictive suggestions.
Thanks
Lonwa
There should be a setting called dictionary and all your saved words can be seen and u can delete them, but with Google updates to OS I am not sure if it still is there.
I have not been able to find anything like that. Can you point me in the right direction? When I spoke with LG support they said the only thing you can do is wipe the entire cache. =(
Ok here it is
Go to general tab in settings> language and keyboard>LG keyboard>word suggestions>personal dictionary and remove ones u dont need, hope it helps.
Thanks for that. Unfortunately the personal dictionary is empty. =(
Then u probably have to change settings to mild corrections so it won't bother with everything
On the LG 6 model, once you get to the LG Keyboard, look for Word Suggestions, click on that. Then look under "Manage" where it has 3 areas to choose from> 1st is Personal dictionary, 2nd is Update word suggestions, and 3rd is Clear suggestion history. Select Clear suggestion history. Once you tap on that, it will ask you "Clear suggestion history?" and give you the option to Cancel or Clear. Hit Clear. That should clear everything out. Hope this helps.
