While listening to music on Google Play on (headphones) I went into settings and was looking at my wifi settings. I pressed the menu button and accidently hit the option for WPS push button. Knowing I didn't mean to press that I immediately hit the Cancel button and then BOOM my volume increased dramatically. So much that I can't even listen to it all the way up now because it's insanely loud.
Can anyone else duplicate this? Weird I'm going to see if it effected the external speaker...

Did not effect the external speaker. Headphone is back to normal. I dunno lol. Probably a volume spike due to the notification of reconnecting to my wifi. That's the only explanation I have.

So I've had the n7 for a few weeks and love it. Running android 4.2 and nothing rooted. The 1 thing that annoys me most is that the volume rocker only seems to affect media volume, no matter where I am on the device. I have to open setting to adjust notification volume.
This isn't how it has worked on any other Android phone or tablet I've used. The volume rocker controls notification volume on everything else and it adjusts the media volume when I'm in a game or music/movie player.

If you find out the reason, i want to know it.
I wish it would only control media volume for me, i hate it controlling the ringer/notification volumes, but unfortunately there's no "fix" for that.
Maybe you found the magic solution xD
I found if im watching a video or listening to music it will only effect what im listening too, or if I do it on the main screen with nothing running it will change all the volumes.
You can press the rocker once and then tap the mixer button on the right side of the volume slider to bring up other volume options, but the main reason is most people set the notification volume and then just leave it alone. Media volume is the only thing that needs quick adjusts, usually. -Ara

This makes sense, but it's not what I'm used to. I guess I have to adjust to it. I'd like to be able to just control notification volume from say the home screen like I can my on my android phone. Oh well. 1 extra step won't kill me

I am just using the default Samsung music app, so maybe a simple player switch will suffice...
I am coming from a iPhone 5. One thing the iPhone does very well is play music. There are a copy of issues with my S4 in this regard that are driving me crazy, I am hoping you guys can help me resolve them:
1. Volume rocker on headphones does not control music volume. As far as I can tell the volume rocker just doesnt do anything at all. Is there a way to make this control music / voice levels? Very annoying having to fish for the phone to actually move the volume rocker.
2. Previous doesnt work. On the iPhone you can triple click the button on the headset to either restart the current song or go back to the previous song that was playing before. I used this quite often as i sometimes like to Binge on a particular soundtrack. This does not seem to work currently, triple pressing the button simply goes to the next song (double tap) and then pauses (single tap).
Loving the S4 so far, I definitely hope the above is something that is possible to fix though. Thanks a lot guys!
Try google play music? The volume thing worked on my s3 however I've yet to test ion s4... Also i use poweramp
sgh-i747(d2att)(sgs3) on latest cm10.1 or ultimatum
my headphones work on the s4 so far... volume and pause/skip tracks also works. single tap button to pause, double tap to skip etc. maybe u got a faulty headset?
Yeah sounds like a faulty headset...mine works

Or push it further in maybe? It seems to be hard at first to press in the headphone all the way... loosen up over time

remember it has to be the s4 headphone not apples they wont work
I'm having some annoying issues with the music controls on the included headphones. It seems nearly impossible to skip songs by double clicking the button, I always just pause and unpause the music repeatedly. Also, if I have music controls enabled (so I can use the volume buttons on the phone to change songs), the volume buttons on the headphones are disabled. I'm not sure if this is more of a custom ROM issue, or just the way it is. But my main concern is skipping songs barely working.
Any way to fix this?
-Thanks

If you are running a custom ROM, you'll probably get better answers in that ROM's Q&A thread... just sayin'
I have no issues with the operation of the headphone buttons with the stock ROM.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was the ROM or just how it is, but I'll check out the ROM Q&A.

Anybody else have a problem where you are listening to an MP3 (in my case through BT in car) and you do ANYTHING on the phone and the volume drops a couple of notches?
I use Car Home Ultra and there is even a setting to bump media volume to max when you run it, which it does.
Then, when I change albums or take a call or anything, it drops two steps.
Very strange and annoying as hell.
Wow, 60 views and no one has anything to say?

I don't really know why that happens? I think its a precaution to where its not on full volume when you do those things so it doesn't blow the speakers.

Hey guys. Every single time I insert a cable into the headphone jack of the S 5, the volume is automatically set to like 70% for "safe listening" and must be manually adjusted back to a higher volume if desired. I have already disabled the message that appears notifying this, however the volume still gets adjusted. I actually mostly use the headphone jack for my car audio, so safe listening is not useful for that case.
I am wondering if there is a setting I'm missing or if it must be (already is?) modded to not lower the volume upon inserting headphones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem. Safe listening never applies to me because I am either in the car or using have impedance headphones that need 90% volume to produce correct levels. I'll let you know if I find a way.

This seems to work well, but I'd like to forgo using an additional app for this. Thank you, though!
