[Q] S-Health - Adding blood glucose?! - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What I am trying to do now and can't is update my S-HEALTH app (to add blood glucose) and when I click update S Health, it's giving me the error message "Error Product does exist in this store (4002)" this happens even with a USA sim card and Europe sim card (to force it to go to a different Samsung Apps store). It's funny because the Google Play store used to direct to the country that the SIM card is from, but now it won't.
I have an unlocked Samsung GT-9505 from Claro (Brazil operator)
baseband I9505VJUAMDE

I am diabetic and would be REALLY useful to have this feature! If someone can help with any tips on how to get this working and updated, please PM me or post here. Is it something not yet available or a restriction I am experience due to my current F/W?
Thanks a lot!

I have the same issue and I'm in Denmarj.
I can't update S Health because of that error

this sounds like something samsung will fix near in the future. probably a minor glitch on the server end actually, i could be wrong of course

Hi
Just how will s4 read your blood glucose level? You need some kind a sensor or something.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Got the same issue in the UK.
Just get the error message - come on Samsung, you can do better than this for a high end smartphone!

Hi
Is anyone saw this device working (preferably wireless) with S4 and S Health app?

[SHW-m110s] Korean Anycall Galaxy S, Thread/FAQ/ReadMe/Discussion/Questions

Hi All,
I'm going to put this upfront, because it's more important than the FAQ. Though there names get repeated a bit in this post, a major credit goes to Koe & Appagom for providing a lot of know-how, testing, information sharing and answers to questions users have posted here. This thread wouldn't be half as valuable without them. They should probably consider getting donate links, as it's the popular thing to do around here anyways, and I'd surely give them a few 원 for some soju or their beverage/food of choice for enhancing my phone experience. If they do decide to do something like that, I'd encourage you to do the same if you've used their methods or have even delayed taking action until you saw and read about their successes, trials & tribulations before proceeding with anything risky.
Next important thing, please don't try to flash i9000 or any other SGS variant's firmware unless you are really prepared to experiment and fix your own problems.
I'm writing this because perhaps it will help us SHW-m110s users spread information and have a point of reference, perhaps even bookmark, to spread information specific to our phone. Many of our questions just get posted in the most recently replied to thread with the word "Korean" in it. Part of my goal will also be to provide an area that Korean users who speak little English will be able to post and have a discussion. I will start that process on my own and enlist help from others I know. Please feel free to contribute in any way you can in any of these areas.
With the Froyo update, I'd like to link to one of the more newsworthy and relevant development's due to increased system functionality we have at our disposal. Koe's guide on HowTo OpenVPN on the SHW-M110S (via StrongVPN and maybe others) can be found here Thanks KOE

By request, other links to other guides or important topics available on XDA (or elsewhere) for the Galaxy S series if you haven't already come across them or just need a point in the right direction will be posted here. So, please let me know if you feel there is some other required reading before the test :
[REF] BIG FAQ! {Flash/Root HOWTO} {ADB&Tutorials} {T&T} {FW-Guide} [MUST READ!]
So, on with the FAQ/guide:
*please note, this is a highly work-in-progress thread and is meant to be supplemental to, not in place of, better, more refined guides featured in the I9000 board. I started to plan this about 24 hours ago but there continue to be questions asked out of place so I'm rushing this a bit
Where can I find ROM "(insert name)"?
How do I update my phone?
Can I put a ROM from the i9000 or another SGS family on this device?
What frequencies does the cellular radio operate on?
Does that make this a world phone?
What limited functionality have users experienced overseas?
How do I use Voice search in Korean?
What else is different from the I9000 and other versions of the SGS?
How do I root my phone?
Where is Samsung Apps/Samsung Apps store?
Are there any other ways to download games in Korea?
Does SK Telecom support OTA updates?
How do I work the DMB tuner?
Why aren't the Secret Codes aren't working?
Can I change the SMS character limit from 80 to 160 characters?
Can we get Social Hub on the phone?
I want the boot animation, do you have it?
This FAQ is terrible, but I have a question...
Where can I find ROM "(insert name)"?
Koe seems to have kept a good list, here.
How do I update my phone?
Download Kies 2.0 here > click on the magnifying glass to the right of "Kies" > click on the white button "Kies 다운로드" > run the file > install > important set your location (left box) to Korea (I assume this to be the default) and your language (right box) can be the language of your choosing.
Can I put a ROM from the i9000 or another SGS family on this device?
This is one of those, 'if you have to ask...stay far far away questions'. Essentially you can come in here if you want a suggestion on what ROMs we might be using at the time, but no, for the love of God don't ask about i9000 or other device ROMs. If you know how to get yourself out of a pickle you wouldn't even need to ask, and if you try and fail you'll be asking us to get you out.
Right now most users are content with z4mod, though there are some Korean ROMs that will be brought up from time to time.
What frequencies does the cellular radio operate on?
*To be updated*
Does that make this a world phone?
XDA users have reported some phone functionality in Russia and the Philippines. And know specific carriers in the US that the phone may/may not be compatible with, and if this will work for users in the EU. It seems that most people, if they have the right APN information, have gotten working this in a variety of countries though there will be at least some U.S. carriers that aren't available and potentially other non-standard frequency users. Still, if I were living in another country I'd probably only get this from a distributor who I'd be able to get a refund from if I couldn't get it working - anything else and you're doing so at your own risk.
What limited functionality have users experienced overseas?
User ulrauko has reported no data functionality on his device in Russia.
It is recommended to work with a local carrier to get APN information to enter into your settings in order to maximize phone functionality. Some users may continue to have 3G problems after this, it might be possible to check setting "data roaming" in wireless & network > Mobile networks, but it'd be wise to check with your carrier to see what happens if you end up roaming onto another carriers towers.
Users precious_mew has reported that he can't use MMS due to his carrier while chester_go has reported an inability for his phone to see his phone number requiring him to edit his phone number (to any number, not necessarily his actual number) to send SMS without any problems receiving SMS. Since then, Chester has been able to "program" his SIM by using the following method:
-Removing the SIM card
-Placing it in another phone that has the "My Number" option (I used an iPhone, heard that older Sony Ericssons work too.)
-Entering my own number in international format (+63917~) (Prior to this, "Unknown" was also shown in the iPhone.)
-Inserting the SIM back to the M110s.

How do I use Voice search in Korean?
Voice Search can be changed in settings>voice & input>voice recognition settings>lanugage...
What else is different from the I9000 and other versions of the SGS?
For now, I assume that we have different cellular radios. Also, we have a T-DMB tuner. We were given different stock software, originally missing Swype and a few other things, since then we have received Swpye through a firmware upgrade. We do utilize different firmware for our SHW-m110s than the typical international versions.
How do I root my phone?
Appagom's Evolving, and well well-supported, Post.
Where is Samsung Apps/Samsung Apps store?
The Samsung Apps store in Korea is a subset of SK Telecom's store, I highly doubt this would be accessible overseas as I think it's SIM card dependent. There you will find a full version of Asphalt for a free download. Please note, some games, even western games such as Farm Frenzy only have Korean language menu, while Asphalt has both English and Korean. I'd also guess there is no 24 hour return policy, but any confirmation would be great, and I have to presume that charges will be added to your monthly phone bill. *As of Froyo SK has partially, and poorly, integrated part of their(?) app store into the marketplace in a separate tab called "SKT"
Are there any other ways to download games in Korea?
Being rooted will allow you to run MarketEnabler and fake a SIM code to be in one of a few countries. I don't think anyone on this thread knows the legality of such actions, so do so at your own risk.
*Note, as of Nov 15th, the Froyo update fast web installer is not functional. Will update if there is a change and I remember. Also, see Koe's guide to getting VPN working which can give you access to location restricted apps.
I hold out hope that fast web installer for AppBrain will be updated to work on the SGS, there are reports that some items such as GoogleEarth can be installed in this manner where users can't find the app in the marketplace.
There are also always "other ways" amongst them there are 3rd party sites such as slideme.org where you can find both paid and free games (some of which might not be available in the marketplace due to developer preference and/or marketplace restrictions). Slideme will work direct on the phone and you can also use it on your PC to download and sideload apps. As a matter of fact, games can be found by developers here at XDA which can be sideloaded. If you root your phone you will, hopefully, be able to use market enabler to sign as though you aren't in Korea (use wifi + airplane mode) and be able to download games directly from the marketplace. Additionally there are always the less legitimate ways.
Does SK Telecom support OTA updates?
User akbk84 reported to me in August that he did receive an OTA udpate. However, this was weeks after I had received my first, and I was perhaps on my 3rd or 4th update by then. He She (my apologies ) did, however, receive the most current update. I do not know what SK/Samsung plan going forward, perhaps just critical updates will be OTA. I personally have, and I kind of recall reading someone else might've, received an OTA camera update.
Update: In the t-store there is an app called T-Upgrade, we believe it is supposed to give OTA updates to the phone. After downloading it didn't help me get the newest FW, so I'll post further information when I hear of a success story.
How do I work the DMB tuner? The DMB tuner works best with the DMB antenna extended. Extend the DMB tuner, located on the top right of the phone above the power button.
The secret codes were changed, or removed from, or broken during, an August firmware update. For now, we will keep a running list of working secrete codes here:

Can I change the SMS character limit from 80 to 160 characters?
This seems to be a common question posed from people living outside of Korea. Handcent defaults to 160 characters before changing the message to an MMS, how this will affect your message setting and carrier costs have never been verified so please do some sort of conclusive test and update us. Within Korea, MMS/SMS have the same pricing and free allotment, so it doesn't seem to be necessary to have the 160 character difference, also I haven't heard anything about how this might affect the messages and how SKT would deal with and treat extra long SMS messages.
Can we get Social Hub on the phone?
As far as I know, no one has successfully extracted and loaded Social Hub onto our phones.
I want the boot animation, do you have it?
Yes, please go to this post for more information.
This FAQ is terrible, but I have a question...
Please ask, provide better answers, do whatever to help us improve our SHW-m110s experience.
Thanks all!

i'm hoping the mods will create a subforum for this model, since they seem to be doing it for all the models
or instead of that, they should combine all the forums into one
no idea what their plans are, but it's really messy as it's right now
Agreed, if I wasn't busy writing this I might've actually posted a link in the Galaxy Tab forum regarding your proposal when I saw it pop up on my Google reader.
re. the unlimited data option. it is currently available. i called SKT a few days ago and changed my plan to unlimited.

You are correct, this thread has paid for itself already!
i'm so envious.... USA and Korea, and many other countries already have unlimited data
but we in Canada still stuck with limited data
Ha, if I were still in the US I'd still be a bit jealous of the Korean system. U.S. buy a Galaxy S, get a gimped phone and be forced into a data plan (no FF camera, no tethering with the exception of Sprint in 4G areas). These days new contracts at the big two, AT&T and Verizon don't even get unlimited data IIRC (Verizon is implementing capped data, not sure on the timeframe)
In Korea you can buy a phone without a data plan, or a plan without a voice plan. Unlimited data plan with 200 texts and 300 minutes (I might've reversed those) is essentially less than half the price of the cheapest AT&T and Verizon plan with more than 1GB.
In summary, you can have:
contract free
no voice plan
no data plan
unlimited data on the super cheap
free tethering (not available on any carrier in the U.S. in the near future with the exception of Sprint but only on the 4G network)
Free wifi access points
Compared to Canada I pay less than 50CAD for my plan.
Also, not available on SKT, the carrier that has the SGS, but one more reason to be jealous of possibilities here...KT expands Wi-Fi coverage to all subways
I found these at an korean site.
It's used with odin to root the phone.

Your link is more recent than mine, I think there is some merits to using both, I think the method I have is safer and doesn't use ODIN but it'll take some research. I'll see if I can look into it tomorrow 3 am right now. In any case, I appreciate the search and the links.
*Edit* As I said before, I think the way I have posted is preferred by the Korean community, the most recent, popular hack going on there links to mine. According to the discussion at matp, I think there's a smaller chance of bricking with the method I posted. However, also like I said before, I think thought there might be merits to both, so I'll put your link on the front page as an option to those who want to use Odin. Either way, thanks again.

I definitely contemplated it, especially the most recently active thread. You have more experience here so I'll defer to your wisdom, so there wouldn't be much hard in essentially "bumping" those other threads by posting a link to here? Or is there another method that's preferable? The one thing about the most recently active thread was two people were having the same issue and I wasn't sure if they'd be in contact there. I definitely want them to be in contact in one place or the other, so bumping that might actually do them some good. I'll post the link there now.
One more question. I plan, or at least planned, on posting when we receive Froyo in a new thread (I think it'll at least give the community the "update is around the corner" feeling that they desperately crave) and they won't be going out of there way to be looking here. Also, it seems to be the general community practice, even posting rumors they here from some guy in a kiosk . Do you advise against me starting a new thread when that occurs? I could always still link here even though I think it'd be expected that a lot of the initial discussion would occur there.
thanks for the update sirphunkee , it's good to know the idea hasn't been dropped.
alovell83, feel free to create new topics for worthy information, as most likely people would like to add feedback, etc
you don't want everything in this topic, else it will become a big mess, so instead we'll use this stickied topic as an index for all new Korea SGS related topic discussions, and important announcements.
until we learn the fate of the Admin decision on how to improve the SGS family forums
Good to hear on both the integration and the sticky, sirphunkee, thanks! We're feeling more welcome here already! But now you make me wish I wrote a better thread, well, it's already Saturday here so I guess I can get to my planned improvements when I wake up. Hopefully work on getting a 3-button equipped SGS as well so I can get some better rooting info available. More importantly, I'll probably, finally, register at matpclub and tell them we have a special section over here and looking to share best practices with there community.
you might want to write up something for your fellow Koreans, about the trick to warm up the phone to enable the 3 button download mode.
I still can not believe it myself, but there have been mixed reports from people saying yes it works (3 buttons did not work before the heat), and no it doesn't work
so i'm really confused, but it's worth a try for a few guys that got the Korea SGS and got stuck because the ROM Flash failed

No prob I too would love to see a better organization of all the Galaxy sections...and I think the odds are very good that the final structure will be at least very similar to what's been proposed in AllGamer's poll (which is what we're using as the reference in the mod discussions).
Anyway, thanks for both of your efforts on all this, it is very much appreciated by both myself and the other users around here!

For people using the device outside of Korea, please fix for yourself. For domestic users who text alot, I wouldn't look for a fix, I'm under the impression you'll be charged for 4 texts if you use 241 bytes. While if you use MMS instead (the default when you go 81+ bytes) is counted as 1 message.
You need to have 3G on to send the MMS, which used to be annoying for me because I used to leave 3G off bc of 500mb limit, but they just started their unlimited data program so I now use 3G on 90% of the day.
In any case, do what is convenient for you.
Thanks for creating this thread alovell83.
Just to clear things out for FAQ #3, I was able to solve the issue PERMANENTLY by:
-Removing the SIM card
-Placing it in another phone that has the "My Number" option (I used an iPhone, heard that older Sony Ericssons work too.)
-Entering my own number in international format (+63917~) (Prior to this, "Unknown" was also shown in the iPhone.)
-Inserting the SIM back to the M110s.
There
PS I wasn't able to reply to you in the other thread, but 3G works now. I just had to enable data roaming on startup and use apndroid (avail. in market) to switch data on/off.

corrections are stated below:
download es file manager, once downloaded remember to mount system as writable at bottom in settings of application
also download s3market files provided, i have never used other file provided for calender etc it has no use in mtk6575 versions of the device
store s3market on root of sdcard
copy files within one by one, not together to system location shown
install the com.android.vending-3.5.16.apk file provided in s3market.
fix permissions in properties of files shown
then reboot device
what i have corrected in the procedure will fix the stopped unexpectedly error 100% if done correctly in mtk6575 phones of this device
I'm curious, how do these phones compare to the real thing? I gave up on clone phones after receiving a very bad quality ciphone 09..
Visually Stunning, Functionally a failure...
Be Warned, the HDC Galaxy S3 especially from fastcardtech are not worth the money and mental anguish to get the thing rooted. They come with Gingerbread, and Locked, and full of Chinese Apps. Once you free of that, the Google Sync is limited, so you cannot get your mail, calender, etc synced. Then there is Colonel Zap which is mysteriously the only person in the world prone to be able to root these devices, but be warned again. Only unless you specifically know your Chipset in your phone, MT6577 or 6575, good luck with that, you should be wary of rooting per Col Zap, as in my case, there process bricked one of my two phones from FastCardTech. And don't get me going on FastCardTech, they are complete B.S., takes over a month to accomplish anything, then they send you the lesser model than you pay for. Doesn't matter all the FREE CRAP you will be offered with this phone, doesn't make up for the fact that is is just a great looking shell with poor electronics inside.
Look these phones are from CHINA, the specs offered online are fiction, and are burnt into the kernel of the phone,so it only appears that you are getting what it states online. you are only getting a phone capable of meager performance, NO 4g, 3g, but at lower speeds if your are lucky enough to fit the Mobile Frequency Spectrum the phone runs in, being their made in China, not a U.S. friendly phone in that aspect. Wi-fi is spotty, and the software is crap, bottom line you get what you pay for, and not many resources to get you through the hard times. Good Luck.....!! At least it looks like the real thing you can show off to your friends while they laugh at you.....
Specs do not match and support is very poor
I bought the "Ultimate pro" version from FastcardTech.com (as a new member i am not allowed to post the link) and it does not meet the specs given by them. The GPS took about 2 hours outside to determine my position. After a factory defaults reset i could not find the strength to do this again
The CPU is not the 6577, but the slower 6575. The camera quality is very poor. The wifi signal is very, very weak. (i have a very good and strong router) The sound quality of a phone call is poor. The 'gsm sound' disturbes the conversation all the time, as if you are to close to a speaker. When you complain to FCT, don't expect any customer support. They give to most strange answers and can give no specific support what so ever. After some time, they say i can return the phone, but it's allmost impossible to meet their requirements, so i am pretty sure that when the have it back, i will never hear from them again. (just read the customer feedback on any honest site)
Including tax, shipping and insurance, i paid about 250 euo's for this phone.
If i had known this all on time, i would not have bought it.
But on the other hand, the responsiveness and quality of the screen is good. Gaming goes smooth and after countless factory defaults, i have managed to turn off most Chinise apps, without losing the nice 'Samsung startscreen'.
All together is not such a bad phone after all, but its not what i counted on in the first place.
Now i am curious about if there will be any tweaks possible. Rooting, custom firmware etc...
I am willing to help if possible.
Kind regards,
Coupedevil

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. It's disappointing to read how unprofessional some of these shops are It's one thing when they mess up the specs on pre-release products but this shouldn't happen with a phone that has been available for so long. Looks to me like they simply sent the wrong phone to begin with. Their lack of knowledge of even FCE-level English makes it so much worse
I'm looking at chinastore-online to get the Jiayu G2+. The shop at least claims some customer-friendly terms, but so far I've yet to hear from anyone who made a purchase there.
So hang on you've bought an obvious Chinese knock off and your surprised to find its crap? If your interested I can do you a great price on some magic beans (cash or bank transfer only).

A clone in looks, but without the Samsung SOC. So chances of getting a ROM off here that'll run are less than zero, sorry.

I have this galaxy s3 mt6575 clone, same as in the pictures in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921178
I also had troubles getting the gps to work and started to think it didnt work at all.
But lately I have managed to get some gps signal to work.
I did flash the cwm recovery and have now installed the Lewa rom for it.
google "LeWa For Samsung Galaxy S3 MTK6575" to find the rom if you want to try.
Not sure if it was that rom that made the gps work or not, because I also did install an app named GPS Booster, as well as the u-center gps test app, and the GPS Test app.
Now I get enaugh signal to get my position. But the antenna is weak I think, so I need to be outdoor and have clear weather and clear view to the sky to get it to work. I did not test it in the car yet, but I think it might be to weak to work reliably inside the car.
i just bought the MTK6577 (s3 mimic)
and i want to change his rom (its already rooted)
what rom will work at this device?

You will need to go through the process of learning how to root and unlock the phone. I hope there will be enough support or assistance for you on this site and that it being an N9006 won't be too problematic.
I am in China, but went out of my way to avoid the N9002, N9006, N9008 or any other variant they are selling here. I get my hands on the N9005 in a few days, so time will tell if it actually bloody works or not in China. It wouldn't surprise me to find that we are stuck in the same same boat on different shores...

Actually the process looks like it might be easy enough for us:
http://techbeasts.com/2013/09/27/ho...ot-samsung-galaxy-note-3-all-versions-guide/#
Describes the way to do it.
Then you'll probably need to stick the most recent GAPPS on it, if it isn't already on it.
Good luck and have fun getting through the nervousness of rooting your first (I presume) device.
Cheers.
Should I return the n9006?
Hi there - I'm living in Shanghai and just found this thread. I bought the sm-n9006 today and was excited until I started reading about region locking and non-LTE versions, etc.
This is my first Android device so I'm super new but the bloatware on this thing is annoying! I wanted to remove this stuff and get some Google apps installed but I can't even find the Google play app to get started.
I'm concerned that because it's the mainland china version that this is going to be a bigger pain than it's worth. Should I wait a few months and have a family member buy a US model? Any other reasons to stay clear of this china model?
Is rooting the device a must if I want to get full access to apps, etc.?
Also, it seems this model does not have LTE. Is that correct? I ravel/stay in the US over summer holidays. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

The bloatware won't be your main problem, it will be no access to google apps. I wouldn't worry about no LTE, you probably won't notice.
Importantly for Laowai, rooting is necessary, unless you are fluent in chinese, and can therefore use the Chinese markets and apps.
There are quite a few places online to find out how to unlock and root your device - this forum/link above/galaxynote3root.com/etc. I think you'll need about three to four hours of uninterrupted time (as a beginner), a pc (I've used a mac and it is annoying), fast-ish internet speed (to dowload the files), maybe a vpn to look at You tube clips that exemplify (eg, gfwvpn.com is handy and easy to install on both your computer and device), and only a small amount intellect.
You go through the process as above link or elsewhere, and then flash on an updated GAPPS zip if it isn't on the stuff you downloaded.
People here and elsewhere have really made it simple compared to when I first did mine (or maybe I have a little more knowledge). I'm only really just getting the hang of it all now and find it really enjoyable part of Android experience. Actually, just fell in love again with my S3 using CM... Wondering why I am going back to touch wiz, actually...
I'll know on Monday if it was the right choice for me after a day with the new giant phone.
Good luck.
Thanks for the post and information, I am new to android so it looks like I'll have to start doing my research. I am not fluent but certainly advanced so perhaps there are some Chinese options though I assume it'd be a better experience if I had it rooted instead.
Are you in SH by chance? I'd treat you to a coffee or something here in Pudong if so while you tutor me haha.
Thanks again for your help.

SM-N9006 More than root needed?
I have the same SM-N9006 purchased in China and now back in the USA. Most of the Chinese in the phone was converted to English through the normal settings. The problem is the Apps... they are all Chinese and need to be replaced with English versions. The current ROM blocks all access to the Google Play Store, even if it is side loaded, it is forcibly closed when opened.
Would it not be better to re-ROM the phone with a Samsung stock ROM that will work with the N9006 hardware? Is there such a ROM?
Please be specific on the steps (not the how to's) that need to be taken to use the N9006 in the USA with the Play Store Apps.
Much Thanks in advance, I'm also a newbie on a learning curve.

I just got this Note 3 SM-N9006, I think mine is rooted that it has everything as if it's normal Note 3 in the US. But I note that it does not show that it connects using 4G/LTE. Does it have 4G/LTE, air command, etc ... capabilities to turn on somehow?
Is there an app that display what really inside your note, I mean the actual hardware of the phone?
N9006 doesn't have 4G/LTE. air command is ok

Really? I wouldn't be too happy to buy a rooted phone from Samsung... you won't get one officially at least. Especially if you bought it in China that would mean its been messed with prior to you buying it. I like my phones coming rooted.
If you had them root it after them unboxing your phone ( hopefully not with Kingo App or some suspicious app that connects to the internet to do its thing ) then your fine. Provided you saw them unbox everything...its not a cheap phone.
If the serial numbers on the box and your phone match ( and the box has some Chinese ) then your fine.
If area under the removable battery didn't have any bright yellow sticker with lots of nasty looking Chinese text, then your fine.
If your in the U.S then its fine you don't need to worry about warranty.... as I am still currently in Shanghai I got mine official with a 2 year warranty.
Sorry if I sound too untrusting of phone sellers here. I have been told of the countless stories about how innocent people buy phones they assume are "new". Just recently I had to help my friend fight some store "official Samsung Store" owner for his replacement of a dead Note 2 dud ( you know those fake recycled phones that are sold in Shenzhen from HongKong that live for 4 months tops ).

Can N9006 run 3G or 4G SOMEHOW? Or is there no workaround?
Hello, I am having the same issue someone mentioned about not getting 4G (or even 3G) with the SM-N900 (model N9006) Chinese Note 3. I did not see a solution to the initial post, though. My phone does everything else, but running on Edge is pretty shoddy. I called T-Mobile (my carrier), and they made me enter some settings into the "access point names" tab (apn protocol, port number, etc.). This did not resolve the problem, unfortunately. The back of the phone, under the battery, says it is 3G WCDMA + GSM. T-Mobile runs on GSM, so it should work, I am absolutely stumped. As I said, all the apps work, and it is running Jelly Bean, it's just the slow as molasses internet that bugs me. Is there some sort of solution to this? I could not really find anything worthwhile on any Google searches. Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
I have n9006 and when I type the star and hash key it Cannot display and when switch the data off it automatically switch on and I don't know what to do with the phone,I cannot use it

[Q] G900F Privacy Management

Hey guys!
A friend of mine told me, that he will be equipped with a Samsung Galaxy S5 soon by his employer. I'm not quite sure which model it will be but I predict it to be the G900F as it will be bought in Europe and it won't be the most expensive model of the series.
His employer already told him that it will come with some special app pre-installed that he will need to work with in the future.
He was told too that this app will also track his gps position and record his phone usage stats, especially which numbers he calls on what time and for how long he talked.
These informations will be sent back to his employer who obviously will collect this data and possibly wants to use against him some time (you never know..).
The alternative of using the phone is just using it without putting a SIM in just to work with the app and have an extra phone which he really uses all the time. But that's somehow awkward if you ask me.
Whatever. I'm used to flash custom ROM's, kernels, recoveries on phones and work with them as I just flashed CM 12.1 with Xposed on my own phone but never owned a S5 myself.
So I'm asking for some tips what we could use for preventing the data collection.
I already used PDroid on my obsolete LG P990 in the past and currently use the privacy settings on CM 12.1 to prevent apps from doing against my will.
What would be the most efficient way to achieve power over this nasty spyware?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings,
Seyron.
Well firstly the call data will show up on the monthly bill for his employer to see. Secondly what app is it? Many of these security apps will not install on a rooted device/custom rom. Our work one does not. Location wise he can just turn off he location from the menu.
If he can root just install a privacy app like lbe security and stop the company app from seeing anything.

Samsung S8 - NFC issue after update to DD

Hi all.
This is my first post so be gentle.
I have recently purchased an S8. I am diabetic and i use Abbott Freestyle Libre to monitor my blood sugar. Libre uses NFC technology and a specific reader. There are a lot of apps (including an official one : LibreLink (which is not yet available in my country)) to get the readings.
When i first opened the package (S8) the first thing i did was to install Glimp (app from play store) which does the same thing as the reader. Gets the readings via NFC. It worked fine at the time. Then a notification for update came along and i did it. Ever since NFC works fine with other devices apart from the sensor i have. Glimp does no longer work.
I did some research on the internet and found out that a lot of people have the exact same problem as i had.
I contacted Samsung support and told me it is Abboots fault. I called Abbott and told me its samsungs fault. I called Glimp HQ and told me "No S8!" (lol). LibreLink was even became unavailable through playstore because of that reason.
How i solved it:
I downloaded the original samsung ROM that the mobile came with and installed it via Odin. It was the earliest one. AQCA. Since it was an official samsung ROM, the KNOX was not triggered and i am still on 0 (good news). Glimp and NFC are working as they should without a problem with this firmware.
The thing is that i would like to be able to get the updates without fear of having to roll back on the first rom and do the tiring procedure of restoring and backing up over and over again.
Does anyone know what they did from the AQCA to AQDD regarding the NFC?
Has anyone else solved the issue with any other way than mine?
Thank you in advance.
Don't do the updates it's still doesn't work and we are the 5th of july
I have the same issue, just that I am only thinking about buying a phone.
Regarding LibreLink, there seem to be several discussions around the Galaxy S7/S8 phones and trouble around the current firmware (S8) and the current LibreLink version (S7). The solution seems to be: use an APK LibreLink (S7) or an older firmware (S8) until someone solved the problems. Glimp doesn't seem to work at all with the S7 (non-edge), but LibreLink seems to.
All very strange!
Can you help me regarding the S8, All these firmware names are rather cryptic for an outsider. How can i find out if the firmware is still available for a specific model.
(I am in Switzerland, will buy a non-branded phone).
thanks!!

I know it a strange problem.
Samsung messed it up real good this time.
Right now I am using only Glimp.
I have researched and did a lot of experiments to find out which firmware is ok to work with both applications.
Unfortunately, the earliest firmware that is for EU phones (Unlocked) is not early enough. There are other firmwares that came earlier to companies like Vodafone etc etc. These are the firmwares you need to download. Right now I am using the one that ends in AQCA, which is the earliest one. and it works fine.
I guess that you will have no problem flashing a firmware that is from another company (mine for example that it is the vodafone GR AQCA) and still work fine. The firmware you need is given by SwissCom and it is the same that I am using. No matter what you download make sure that the PDA ends in AQCA or AQC9.
Make sure that you flash ALL files from the firmware that you will download. Not just the AP, but all of them, else you will have different baseband versions and your phone would be messed up in different ways. And definitely, when the notification for update pops up, always choose LATER, or you will have to roll back again after the update is done.
Also, since it is an original firmware i guess, as it happened in my case too, the KNOX will not be triggered.
If you have any questions about how to do it, pm me, and i will be more than happy to help. It was really bad for me having an S8 and not be able to work with something so essential as blood monitoring which a 100$ lenovo would have no problem!!! I was ready to sell it.
That is actually helping a lot. For me it probably just means I won't buy the phone at all and since there is no reliable info on a high-end Android phone available, I will continue using the Freestyle-Reader.
But now that we're at it, do you know what the "AUT" in the other firmwares available for Switzerland means?
I understand the I'll need at least AQCA or AQC9, which is only available for the Swisscom formwares.
Since these are official firmwares, can the official Samsung tool (SmartSwitch) be used to flash them?
And thanks anyway, this was very helpful!

Happy to help.
The AUT im not sure what it is but my guess is that has to do something with the region.
If you decide to finally buy the S8 then the only way to flash any ROM is the Odin application that circles around the net. Very easy to find.
Understand that this happens with S7 and S8 only and that is completely Samsungs fault.
I tried to work around with the freestyle libre reader when my S8 was updated and i did not find it useful at all. I had to always have the reader on me, where my S8 was already with me. I dont carry around a bag to have things in it and that is why it was not suitable for me. If you, on the other hand, have no problem carrying around the reader then i guess that having a libre-working phone pays no role.
SmartSwitch is a completely different tool. It only transfers data (contacts, logs, pictures, video, logs etc etc.) an not system, so this will not be in any case helpful.
Tip for reliable readings with Glimp:
Insert the blood levels from the reader into Glimp manually when u measure the blood sugar.
ex. You measure the blood sugar level with glimp and it states 100. The same minute measure the blood sugar lever with the freestyle libre reader and it states 88. Insert the 88 manually in to glimp the same moment you read it. That way the Glimp readjusts the algorithm that uses to better suit the readeer readings. After a day of re-adjustment the readings from Glimp are not so different from the reader. -5+ around.
If you need anything else, I ll be around and check this post regularly.
Other people need the information too, i guess.
Hey again,
I think we're having very much similar issues – I started with the reader when I got my first sensors and worked with it for about a year, which was great compared to the normal blood glucose measurements.
And now I am ready to change to Android (seems iOS will never happen) and realize that the Galaxy S4 that I am currently using (got it from a friend for free) is much more fidgety to use than the reader was.
By that I mean it can takes quite a while to get it realize the sensor and do the measurement, the reader did it in an instant. Is that similar with your S8? On the other hand I if course completely agree - having two devices to carry sucks, I just ask myself why is everyone making it so difficult for us?
There is another thread on reddit where someone also uses your method, I can share the link if necessary
Now - allow me two remaining questions:
- work with a firmware that cannot be updated – have you had any problems with other apps?
- how do I make sure the phone I buy in Switzerland will be able to use the UK firmware (or another)? You sound quite confident it will work though.
And finally – are you aware of any other state-of-the-art phone that actually does all this without issues? The only one I heard of is the S7 edge, but with other phones we are completely left alone with LibreLink. Doh. I even thought of creating a facebook page that collects information about that.
Now thanks again for your help, feels good to finally not be alone with the issue

Well, The readings with the sensor are so much faster than with the phone because the whole reader is an NFC antenna, where in the case of the phone you have to completely match the antenna surface with the sensors surface. Look up in the internet to find in which part of the phone (S4) is the NFC antenna located for better (faster) readings. As you look the back of the S4 is in the right side of the camera flash.
Yes, i have seen the reddit thread. Its pretty much the same as what i have done. Same problem - same solution.
There also been cases with S7 (not S7 edge) with the same problem. I dont know why Edge is working but the normal one does not.
As for other phones, the one that i was having before the S8 was the oneplus 3T (one of the greatest phones around - extremely powerful). Now oneplus launches the oneplus 5 (20 of June), which i believe will beat the S8 in benchmarks and performance. Oneplus 3T was better than S7. The good thing about oneplus is that you do not loose the warranty if you root it or flash a custom OS. Basically, there is no way to loose the warranty with oneplus whatsoever. And since its one of the most popular phones around the Android community, if the stock rom does not work (extremely unlikely) you can flash another one and still be in top ranks.
I can only suggest though, and be absolutely sure for, phones that i have tested. We have seen what happened with the S8. The one minute was working and after the update not so much... I could start a list and post the brand and the firmware of the phone of phones that work with Glimp (LibreLink is still unavailable in my country). But if it works with the one will work with the other.
As of the confidence that the firmware swapping will work:
I could try it on my phone and tell you.
I mean - my S8 was bought in Greece and it was a branded Vodafone phone. I could flash the SwissCom firmware that will supposedly work with the phone that you will buy and tell you.
Sadly for you (happily for me) I do not have a facebook page or any other social networking page to be part of it.
Hey again
Thanks for the a kind offer (flashing), but it is not necessary. I think I won’t go for the S8 until the issues are resolved or it at least is more clear.
I just tried an S7 with an older LibreLink Version (someone reported it works, I guess you’ve seen that too). It did exactly once, before destroying the sensor (I had only 1-2 days left, so thought I just give it a shot). But I should have known better ?
The OneTouch sounds indeed like a good option, let’s see how it finally looks!
Thanks for helping me!

No problem.
There is a very informative list of devices in the website of Glimp somewhere that states which phone tend to destroy the sensors. I managed to find it once and never again.
The S8 has been tiring for me the past few days with all the problems it has and the problems that have yet to come. I didnt know that Samsung was that unreliable.
Thankfully the S8 is the TOP samsung phone right now in the market and i will have no problem selling it in a good price. I will return to the OnePlus which has the best customer service and no complex whatsoever regarding custom ROMs and device modifications.
I just hope samsung will make it up for all the trouble people have been through at some point.
Good luck all.
PS. In any point in the future, if someone has a problem with S8 devices regarding Glimp and how to make it work properly, feel free to pm me.
Seems like neither Samsung nor Glimp have any intentions to solve the matter.
I, therefore, sold my S8 and bought an LG G6.
My impression are way way better than the S8s.
The G6 NFC antenna is huge and it acts very similar to the reader, meaning that i do not have to get too close to get the reading. This is the only mobile phone that i have seen doing that.
I know that the G6 is worse than the S8 in many ways but it works so much better with the Freestyle.
Hello, I have the same problem and unfortunatelly I have to use old firmware.
I noticed that Samsung pushed new update (16.07.2017) - I found that on sammobile.
Have anyone tried this update (maybe they fixed nfc issue)?
The issue has been solved at least in my s8 librelink and glimp works with the last update

WOW!!!! It's great! This update prompt in notifications is so annoying...... Can you check in the settings exact version number? I mean G950FXXU1............... ?
Good news! Great news.
Someone in the Samsung company has been listening.
Good to know they take into consideration all that have been around.
I have already soled my S8 though so i cannot confirm it but i would take your word for it since you have been having the same problem with everyone else and it has been solved.
Cheers.
Now I can confirm that all issues are gone I installed new software G950FXXU1AQG5 (I'm from Poland, XEO version) and everything is ok.
LibreLink app usage
Hi,
I confirm that since the last software update, Samsung Galaxy S8 eventually is able to read the Freestyle Libre Sensors.
Although, can you share your experience on how do you use the official LibreLink application for countries which the android/iOS app has not yet been released?
I 've tried to download the android .apk with the check for the country disabled from apkpure.com, or even downloaded the official app via VPN (i.e. from Italy) but I got an error message for the compatibility of the country at the very beginning of the app.
Thus, I used the Lucky Patcher app to reproduce the official Italian valid version of the .apk by only removing the compatibility checks. Finally, I bypass the country check and I can proceed to read the sensor. But still I get another error: "Incompatible Sensor. This sensor cannot be used with this version of LibreLink."
Any ideas? Has anybody managed to do it successfully?
Thank you.
