Hey
So, I don't have my HTC One yet, but I will be releasing Blade, for it soon
Blade is basically an ultra light ROM, with HTC Sense still there.
This is where you come in, I have an Ultra Light HTC One ROM sitting on my desktop, but I need someone to test, so, submit your applications below
I need someone who:
1) Has sufficient knowledge of how Android works
2) Knows his way around the /system partition
3) Has great English and communication skills
4) Has a few hours of time everyday
Simply post below with your name, age, location, and if you fulfill these requirements.
At the moment, I need no more than 2 beta testers, so please don't take it personally if you are not selected.
Honestly, I need someone urgently, and, this ROM will not disappoint, rather, the size, speed and battery consumption of the ROM will blow you away
Cheers

My name is Casey, in one week I'll be 21 and I'm from Canada. I'm currently using trickdroid but would be interested in beta testing. I've worked in cell phone sales for 2 years and this summer I'm doing app dev for a professor. I'm familiar with /system, not an expert but not new to me.
I'm 20 years old from London, England. I'll have a lot of free time soon as my last uni exam is coming up. I have rooted and flashed 1000's of roms in the past, you could call me a flashaholic What do you mean when you say familiar with the system partition. Are you taking about the system partition in root explorer? If so, then yes I have experience with with that.

My names James. I'm 19 and from Coventry, England. I have been in the Android world for a few years now so I have a pretty good understanding of Android in general. I have a lot of free time as I work from home (lucky, I know ) and I have experience with the system partition as I have flashed all kinds of ROMs/kernels/mods etc over a multitude of devices and therefore lived in the system partition at times
This sounds like a nerdy lonely hearts column
My name is Thomas and I'm from the US. I'm 16 and in high school, so I have a decent amount of time floating around to help out. I could help out if you were looking for additional beta testers later on, but my knowledge of /system is a bit limited at this point in time. I'm really interested in learning about developing ROMs, so seeing parts of the development process would be really interesting to me.
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm pretty familiar with android in general as well; I've even made a few apps.
I'm thinking of getting 1 or two developers too, since a few of you seem to be good developing

Where do you think Blade stands? I have made a first beta, and no, its jot desensed, HTC Sense and all the widgets are there,
Just, make a thoutful guess, what size do you think Blade for the HTC One is at?

I just wanted to give a BIG thank you to all of our amazing developers. Without you guys, we would still be looking at stock HTC Sense and wondering when things would get better. If any of you guys have spare cash, buy as many of these guys as many beers as you can. They take a ton of time out of their daily lives to give us these amazing ROMS, and they don't ask for anything in return. That is the definition of selflessness, and we, the userbase, should continue to support their efforts. I know as soon as I get my raise I'm going to financially aid in their development.
Remember, Donate the the ROM chefs, unrEVOked, and the people that help resolve issues with coding.
Once again, Thanks guys, you fill up my day with fun.
Edit: if you feel like thanking someone personal, let em know here.

Ditto, without the "Academy" and "God" parts... =p (this may seem annoyingly pompous now but you guys will be happy when my similar yet legally different multiplayer version of "Advanced Wars" is released for free for the DInc later this year... hell I need something to help me avoid actually paying attention in college) . Also while this is directed at developers, it isn't exactly developmental, so maybe it should go in the "General" section... I'm sure some devs still go in there *shifty eyes*.
Thank you!

Gonna leave this in dev just for the mere philanthropy of it.

I'll remember next time to put it in the right forum. The only reason i put it here is because the devs come here. Apologies.

Hello everyone...
I want so badly to be able to post in teh Dev section to thank people for their work, but I do not have enough posts to do so...
I am a lurker - new to the Android world and loving every second of it... I generally do not believe in superfluous posts, but I need to simply reach 10 so I can thank people for their hard work and assist anyone running into issues that I also hit...
That said, I wanted to let you all know that I installed Blackhole 4.2 yesterday and it is wonderful. So as soon as it drops on here, consider it. I am using the phone that I have always wanted - and I am sure it will stay exactly the way it is for at least a week or two... until the next big exciting change gets made.
I truley never thought I would enjoy tinkering with a phone, modding bits and pieces of it so much... Sure, I have been modding cars for years, but now a phone... I am hooked and I want to thank this community for the wealth of info that we find in here and the good attitudes that go along with it...
Samsung Fascinate, EB01, Blackhole 4.2 FTW
Thank you Sonofskywalker3 for ALL your hard work!!
Good wirte up until you hit the "good attitudes that go along with it."

noobnl has done more for the epic than most people on this forum have, and only a handful of developers have contributed equal or more. most of the people who post here and make roms simply theme a few files and call it developing. what you need to understand that even though they have cm7 booting, noob had cm6 booting months ago, that isn't the hard part. the hard part is getting the radios and data to work, noob did this with help from very few people, and it took a long time (because he largely did it by himself minus help from skeeterslint forcystos and a few others) but so far not ONE other people have managed to accomplish this task.
:middlefinger:
I wish him the the best, and also we don't know what happened behind closed doors, metaphorically speaking. So lets just leave it at this.

You probably shouldn't run your mouth (fingers?) without learning a bit of history, not-so-ScientificOne. As others have stated, noobnl has contributed much of the early work that current development is built upon...
noobnl, thanks for the work you did to get us this far!
Appreciate your work man. I'm sure your sweat equity will be beneficial to everyone in getting this off the ground.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into both the CM6 project and the Epic as a whole. Your efforts have gotten us really far in this game. Even for the stuff you indirectly accomplished, like gaining the attention of some of the more seasoned devs, so that we could get more stuff done.
You're definitely a great resource and this community is better for it.
I hope I'm as cool as noobnl when I grow up.

My post may have been a little harsh, but obviously you don't know what you're talking about. In regards to CM7, the team of Dameon and others aren't relying on what noobnl has contributed. In fact, who do you think this blog post was aimed towards?
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/a-note-on-unofficial-ports-and-how-to-get-it-right
Dameon and others are trying to get it done the "right way".
It appears, to me at least, that noobnl is attempting (by starting this thread) to get some kind of credit for the work they're putting together, which is probably very little, if any. And if any, I'm sure he'll get the credit he deserves.
Sure, noobnl has done a lot for the community, I for one certainly appreciate it, but that's not what this thread is about now is it?
hmmm, so sounds like we have two dev-groups working on CM now because I'm pretty sure the recently announced group working on CM7 basically said straight up they had yet to even look at noobls progress bc it wasn't actually CM worthy and bc they started group up.
so using logic we can see that noobls 'transition' is to a different group. to bad he won't enlighten us on who that other group is. imagine that, half a statement that tells us not much at all and then some "look at me and what i did" statement, as usual.
But im not ready to stop using my epic... its been getting better and better and better.
And now that developers are dropping like flies, i think its time we should do something about it and take it into our own hands.
i want to learn how to develop and theme and contribute to this community, so if anyone wants to help me or point me in the right direction... i have nothing but time.

I wish I had time. Only thing I seem to be lacking.
I'd love to develop as it would give me something to do on slow work days but I don't know where to even start. Been so long since I've coded anything other than some SQL. I have an Information Systems degree but I work in the finance and accounting section. Go figure.
I would say tweet or message k0nane. He seems willing to point people in the right direction. I mean he helped Mystery turn from a themer to a chef.
I think this is a great idea. I don't have the time to devote to taking classes right now, but I wouldn't mind buying a book or two or reading some training websites or stuff like that. I just don't know where to start. I would love to get involved if someone could point me in the right direction.

I hear you there. A full time job, school, wife and 3 kids doesn't leave much for hobbies. Of course, we've seen some pretty great devs with more than there share of 'personal life'.
I'd be interested in learning as well. I do believe, however, that new source code is going to bring a lot of people with skills to the development community. I think the water's just a bit stagnate right now.

HERE IS THE UNOFFICIAL 1, 000, 000, GUIDE MADE. BUT MADE MY WAY WITH HOPEFULLY WORDS OF MOTIVATION
Note# I will first off state that I want to be a dev one day (Like Nunhugger ). So I read and learn as much as I can. I get comments and inboxes from people saying they wish they knew how to make a custom rom. Lets get to some real talk. I am an uneducated man. I have no diploma or degree and I was able to compile my own series of Roms. 4 years ago the terms widgit, live wall paper, Linux, Ubuntu, toggles, etc was foreign to me. TIGERZ0202 introduced me to ANDROID and I had a Blackberry and didn't have a clue how to even work it. So don't tell me you can't build your own ROM. If I can you can. These are the guides that led me to where I am today. It takes time it takes patience. It took me months of bricking my phone as you have to test your own work. I soft bricked my phone over 40 times and finally hard bricked it and had to get another due to my lack of knowledge and trial and error. But I was determined I was going to do this. So here are some links that taught me. I'll add many from week to week. There are many people from noobs to veterans on this site. There are many young users such as my son who is 10. But knows how to flash a rom because he was taught and has an interest. Many kids such as my son just don't do a search of the forums (young child, lack of knowledge) If you are not willing to study out of the links I provide you are wasting your time. I do bodybuilding shows from time to time and its just like this YOU HAVE TO BE DETERMINED!!!! YOU HAVE TO WANT IT AND READ !!!! JUST GET FOCUSED AND DO IT MY FELLOW XDA MEMBERS Hope these links will lead to some new Roms out there for the greater good .
