Confused: Uk Version what processor - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am mega confused and watching reviews whilst I wait for 3 to deliver my pre ordered S4
I thought the uk version was the 1.9 quad core cpu but a couple of reviews on you tube (phone dog, techno buffalo) say that the international version (which im presuming the 3 one will be) have the new octa core chip
Can anyone who has been lucky enough to get their hands on this gorgeous device advise which chip you have ?
Also has anyone run quadrant ? I have a HTC One at present which is being exchanged by 3 and I get super high scores and wonder does the S4 Beat the HTC One
Thanks

I haven't seen the results of the quadrent score for the octo-core, but the HTC One does beat the S4 in quadrent by a few points with the quad core, it isn't that signifigant of an amount, and you would notice little difference in performance. However, according to an article I read yesterday, the UK will be recieving the QUAD core version, not the Octo-core.

Thanks -
I think there has been some confusion because the specs seem to have got lost in translation
if were getting quad core we are getting the same as our us brothers and sisters which is unusual
Three show its a quad core on their site also ... but as said all the reviews so far on you tube say octa ...
Im hoping to get my hands on the beast and get rid of my htc one back to 3 sometime this week

Well from everything I have been reading I am glad I got the Quad Core, apparently there is a bit of an issue with where the heat is being displaced from the octacore making it extremely hot if you are playing games... And I can say my S4 has been an amazing upgrade to my Epic Though that Epic ran 4.1 like a boss.

SGS is definitely better than droid X in 3D test.
I observed this test carefully, and saw that Galaxy S seriously fell behind droidx in I/O Database write test, which might related to slow internal SD speed. That's why the sgs got lower score in quadrant test.
Hmm so I wonder what would have happened if he applied the stalling fix, what score would have been achieved on the SGS. This comforts me in buying the SGS.
I will take very good 3d performance over a small difference in processor speed any day.
Not trying to sound like a newb but what exactly do you benefit from by having good 3D performance?

The games, man, smooooth running.
On my SGS with r2 rom i'm having average 850 points at Quadrant.
And how the hell moto x is getting 1131?! LOOOL
There have been some talking about the SGX not having 2D graphics acceleration, but in 2D tests (at min 2:11 in the first video, and 1:39 in the second one), we can see that Galaxy S has a clear lead. 8FPS across all the test VS 5 to 6 FPS in the DROID X.
In Linpack with measures CPU performance, Galaxy S has a score of 8.458 MFLOPS VS 8.19 in the DROID X (in line with Samsung claim that the Hummingbird if about 5 to 10% faster than a stock Cortex A8)..
The slow NAND performance seems to be the only explanation to the poor results in Quadrant when compared to DROID X. It isn't certainly the SoC that is slowing down the Galaxy S.
BTW: The Samsung Galaxy S seems to be capped at 56FPS in 3D.. Neo Core, Quadrant, Etc.. etc.. Every 3D bench seem to stop at 56 FPS. This makes sense since more FPS wold only hit more the battery, not improve game experience.. But if this is true, this cap is hidding an even greater difference in 3D performance because the benchmarks are measuring an soft cap, and not the GPU limit.

Don't you want a phone that can play games as well as an iPhone but not be locked to Steve Job's rule?
When I look at the speed of a phone, I often look at how fast the GPU is. My touch diamond didn't have a driver installed to handle the GPU and made for a crappy slow experience even on the UI.

Honeycomb possible. Picture

At first this has nothing to do with the current 7" galaxy tab. But look again. It says Dell 7" :Froyo, Upgradeable to Honeycomb. That suggests that a 7" screen can run honeycomb officialy.
Sent from my always stock, froyo Epic
Excellent post.
The hardware on that 7" device has completely different hardware, not even close to the Galaxy tab. screen size has almost nothing to do with being able to port or run HC on a tablet.
Its not the screen size that matters. Almost all Android devices could run Honeycomb, it all depends on the manufacturers and their choice to do the upgrade or not.
Sent from my GT-P1000
Doesn't that dell tablet have a dual core? If honeycomb can run on a nexus then I'm sure it will run on a 7" tab just fine. But it doesn't mean we are getting honeycomb, not officially at least.
From the Tab.

^^No. Dell doesn't have a dual core processor. It is a single core processor running at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz!
well they got it to work (although still not perfect) on the Nook didn't they? and it has lower specs than the SGT.

The 7" has a tegra2. The 5" doesn't. He provably confused the 2?

Yup, streak 7 has tegra2, but the stupid thing is the screen is 800 x 480!?!?!?!?!!?!? Sigh...Only if it is the same as our tab's
Hate to burst your bubble but just because it is a 7 inch device means nothing whatsoever.....

Such a shame, I so would of picked one up, hope the next 7inch tab gets a dual core
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Honeycomb will run on any android device. There are no minimum specs. There's a port to the Wildfire, G1 and Magic! It's not a question of whether or not it's possible, but whether anyone has the time and will to port it to the Tab

I completly agree! I have seen HC on HTC Desire So, if even that phone can run HC, why our Tab can not? I'm sure, there will be a good HC port, we just need to be patient.
Sorry, got confused between Dell Streak 7 and HTC Flyer! Incidently, HTC Flyer sports a 7 inch screen and runs a single core, 1.2 GHz processor and will be upgraded to Honeycomb according to HTC. However, as others have stated, this means nothing for us, Tab owners.

So its not even half as fast as the PowerVr SGX543MP2. Pass.

SLIGHTLY faster than Tegra 2.
I really have to see how this phone turns out. I think I'll wait awhile before I make the jump. I want to see how smooth it is, the battery life, and also which devs get this phone, because if all the Evo devs & Epic devs move to this phone then I know what I'm getting. But also I'm thinking about the Nexus S too, decisions, decisions

The first link is the phone in question. And it gives a score.
This is my previous post in story form:
The HTC Shooter has an Adreno 220. This is a link to a GLbenchmarks of the HTC Shooter. Look at the score, 22.7fps. Now check out the iPad2 running a larger resolution and scoring DOUBLE the HTC Shooter. Meh. I will wait for a phone running the GPU the iPad2 uses or better. Edit: Here is a Tegra 2 phone with the same resolution as the HTC Shooter for comparison.

The gpu alone isnt everything. Look at the optimus 3d, it scored higher than tegra devices and this device with the our gpu. Any why are you comparing the ipad 2, we are talking smartphones here. Currently no smartphone houses this gpu, only tablets and psp. This gpu might never even make it into a phone. the comparison is pointless.

[OPINION]Galaxy S3; A Huge Disappointment

As the case with everyone else, i was super excited for the s3. After all the rumours and leaks surrounding it are to be cleared. When i first saw it, my first reaction was,"is that that the galaxy nexus fused with s ii.''
The So-Called Galaxy S III is a huge disappointment for me. Samsung teased us by saying that something big is coming, well it's certainly big - 4.8'' inch big.
Let's take a look at what i found so disappointing in S III
1. Display: 4.8" 16M-color HD (720 x 1280 pixels) Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen,
REASON - Dude Sammy, you could just use the old screen size, increasing the resolution. The 4.8'' is too big and i bet that ladies will certainly avoid it.
2. CPU: Quad-core 32nm ARM Cortex A9 1.4 GHz processor, Exynos 4212 Quad chipset
REASON - They used four cores, when they can use two. I mean instead of four Cortex A9, they can simply use tow Cortex A15 cores.
3. TouchWIZ - The pure ICS UI is so sexy, but you ruined by your crapwiz.
4. Design - It looks like a Galaxy Nexus fused with the S II.
I think that the S 3 is a huge disappointment comparing the kind of hype they built with it.

Design and cheap plastics feel let it down unfortunately for me... :-(
Sent from my GT-I9100
God awful design choice. Plastics for one + a shiny back that attracts fingerprints? Blue instead of black? Ugh
Samsung had the opportunity to really push the envelope... and instead they sat back and unveiled a disappointing "flagship"
the design is the only let down, do not say other thing as disappointments. screen and processor are the right choice. how on earth will any mobile company launch a phone with stock ics UI?
All general descusion is to be direct to this thread here
