At first this has nothing to do with the current 7" galaxy tab. But look again. It says Dell 7" :Froyo, Upgradeable to Honeycomb. That suggests that a 7" screen can run honeycomb officialy.
Sent from my always stock, froyo Epic
Excellent post.
The hardware on that 7" device has completely different hardware, not even close to the Galaxy tab. screen size has almost nothing to do with being able to port or run HC on a tablet.
Its not the screen size that matters. Almost all Android devices could run Honeycomb, it all depends on the manufacturers and their choice to do the upgrade or not.
Sent from my GT-P1000
Doesn't that dell tablet have a dual core? If honeycomb can run on a nexus then I'm sure it will run on a 7" tab just fine. But it doesn't mean we are getting honeycomb, not officially at least.
From the Tab.

^^No. Dell doesn't have a dual core processor. It is a single core processor running at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz!
well they got it to work (although still not perfect) on the Nook didn't they? and it has lower specs than the SGT.

Yup, streak 7 has tegra2, but the stupid thing is the screen is 800 x 480!?!?!?!?!!?!? Sigh...Only if it is the same as our tab's
Hate to burst your bubble but just because it is a 7 inch device means nothing whatsoever.....

Such a shame, I so would of picked one up, hope the next 7inch tab gets a dual core
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Honeycomb will run on any android device. There are no minimum specs. There's a port to the Wildfire, G1 and Magic! It's not a question of whether or not it's possible, but whether anyone has the time and will to port it to the Tab

I completly agree! I have seen HC on HTC Desire So, if even that phone can run HC, why our Tab can not? I'm sure, there will be a good HC port, we just need to be patient.
Sorry, got confused between Dell Streak 7 and HTC Flyer! Incidently, HTC Flyer sports a 7 inch screen and runs a single core, 1.2 GHz processor and will be upgraded to Honeycomb according to HTC. However, as others have stated, this means nothing for us, Tab owners.

just saw this new on phonearena... two more months for a new version of android and we dont even have a beta ROM of gingerbread xD
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Honeycomb-now-due-for-February-launch-as-Android-2.4_id15400
Maybe Honeycomb was design specifically with tablets/higher res devices in mind?
I agree. Honeycomb was mentioned as being tablet centric. I don't think there will be much that will affect the phone side. I think that's the big reason they're making it a 2.4 release instead of 3.0. That and I think it is also to get more android tablets out before the iPad 2 is released. That's my theory.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I hope thats the reason... otherwise i will start hating my slide real bad xD
Well look at it this way. T-Mo/HTC can Skip over Gingerbread and go to Honeycomb since the time difference between 2.3 and 2.4 are so short.

If honeycomb is being designed with Tablets in mind, there'd be no reason to put it on a phone. Screen sizes won't match at all.

True but it all depends on what features Google adds in addition to tablet support.
I see Honeycomb as adding Major Support for Tablets. If it was just an update only for Tablets they probably wouldn't given it a codename. Just left it Gingerbread but 2.4. Again just my theory.
i hope 2.4 does end up tablet centric, otherwise it 2.3 would be a waste if time.
MMMM... Honeycomb !

SLIGHTLY faster than Tegra 2.
I really have to see how this phone turns out. I think I'll wait awhile before I make the jump. I want to see how smooth it is, the battery life, and also which devs get this phone, because if all the Evo devs & Epic devs move to this phone then I know what I'm getting. But also I'm thinking about the Nexus S too, decisions, decisions

The first link is the phone in question. And it gives a score.
This is my previous post in story form:
The HTC Shooter has an Adreno 220. This is a link to a GLbenchmarks of the HTC Shooter. Look at the score, 22.7fps. Now check out the iPad2 running a larger resolution and scoring DOUBLE the HTC Shooter. Meh. I will wait for a phone running the GPU the iPad2 uses or better. Edit: Here is a Tegra 2 phone with the same resolution as the HTC Shooter for comparison.

The gpu alone isnt everything. Look at the optimus 3d, it scored higher than tegra devices and this device with the our gpu. Any why are you comparing the ipad 2, we are talking smartphones here. Currently no smartphone houses this gpu, only tablets and psp. This gpu might never even make it into a phone. the comparison is pointless.

SGSII is great and skype video works. Only thing is that we know that an improved version is around the corner with the specs mentioned above.
Im sure you wont regret buying this phone, blazing speed and display, and the boot time is amazing when comapred to all the 1ghz smartphones out there.
I personally think 4.2" or 4.3" should be the limit for smart phones. 4.5" ??? you can call it a mini tablet.

I totally agree with you here, already the size of the sgs2 can take some time to get used to, but 4.5... that has to be too much for a phone device
Anyway, if you're interested in buying this phone, do it right away, it will be your happiest day ever, just be careful to not overpay for it

the device will ship with Intel's new mobile Medfield chip. The Atom-based system-on-a-chip could be Intel's best mobile component yet, and the chipmaker has its sights set on ARM. Reviews site Anandtech last month showed off benchmarks, detailing how Medfield performs far better in browser performance and speed--among other metrics--than those chips found in Apple's iPhone 4S, the Motorola Droid Razr, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Too bad the current dual-core designs exceed the Medfield platform on virtually every bench out there.... Medfield is extremely under-whelming TBH.... SGS3 will blow this out of the freaking water hands down.

I hope the Samsung SG3 works better as a phone then the Captivate, the Atrix by far as been a much better experience than the Captivate, the gps never worked properly and was not functional at all for months the phone as was just average in quality the HTC phones I have had worked rather well for both GPS and call quality. I may try HTC again, maybe the Samsung but I wont be an early adopter.

Tbh, that's not bad! It's just a shame there's no mention of other details, like how much storage there is and if it does support SDHC-cards. One can also see what looks like S-Pen, but I do not know if it's just for the looks or if it is actually functional.
I know several people who could actually use this phone just fine.
I can't even imagine how much of a headache it would be going phone shopping in China. We should all have that problem.
