[Q] "Drawing" in sms app. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, today I discovered that I can kind of "draw" in the sms application. Unfortunately i'm a too young member to post an image. I'm running Paranoid Android 3.15.
Any ideas of what is this annoying thing ?
Thank you.

Swype? You use it to type words rather than draw.

I'm not using swype, the "draw" is in the sms app, not the keyboard, I'm not that dumb.
For example, when I scroll the conversation, a yellow line following my finger appears.

It's a feature in setting

[Q] Is stock keyboard prudish for everyone?

It's a weird problem but when swiping with the stock keyboard it never gets "certain" words right even though they're in the dictionary and are clearly legit. Examples followed by keyboard suggestions- sex (sec), damn (Dan), f*ck (duck), sh*t (shut), and the list goes on. Yes, yes, evidently I curse way too much but it's deeply annoying.
Anyone else have this problem - or better yet, a fix? Because it's driving me ducking mad! Would rather not have to revert to swype...

Use swift key X flow instead

Yeah, but I'm mostly just trying to understand because it's so weird. There must be some ultra-religious moralist on the keyboard programming team who deemed those words unacceptable. Not cool!

Ah, a solution that works! Still annoying that I have to specify that yes, yes I actually do want to use those words - words that are real and in your dictionary - but anyway, thanks for the tip! Now to curse like a motherf*cker! Haha!

[Q] txtx messages

Hello all. When typing a txt msg every time I want a space I have to double tap the space button to start a new word. Is there a way to disable this. I'm using 3x4 keyboard on predictive. I noticed if I just type hello and wait 2 seconds the line goes under the word and when I hit space once its fine. But when typing fast I have to double tap the space otherwise its just coming up as one word. I'm unable to find a setting to turn that off.. Never had this on the s3. Really annoying!!!
Please help
Dude, as simple as it is get another keyboard, or check your current keyboard settings.

Go to the Samsung keyboard settings. Than activate Predictive Text and click on it. There check the box for auto replacement.

What phone do you have? What ROM? Definitely you have this option. What language keyboard do you use? Do you know how to find the Samsung keyboard settings?

That is useless. It replaces words such as 'at' after you have typed them and pressed space with ones like 'or' or 'now' it's crazy!
This option is not in US phones has something to do with apples law suit against Samsung for autocorrect. I use swiftkey because of this, works great.

It is because of the phone lag. You just have to wait a little bit before typing the space.

Swift key makes the phone very slow

Try "SmartKeyboard". Great app, customer autotexts and NO lag. There is a trial version.

I don't see Microsoft suing for use of auto-correct. Apple is just plain asinine in that regard.
I have not found swiftkey to slow my phone down at all. I'm loving it more than stock so far.

The Samsung keypad lag on predictive text input is terrible. I disabled it for that reason.

I'm a Swiftkey user, wouldn't have it any other way now, well worth the 69p I paid for it.

Right I was reluctant to try it because I felt the stock should work right but after using it I wouldn't have it any other way. Completely changes your interaction with the phone.

Used to swear by the stock Google AOSP keyboard, couldn't get used to Swiftkey at first but after 2 weeks of using it, I love it.

Hangout Alternatives

Hello I was wondering what everyone was using instead of Google's hangouts app for SMS. I am stuck looking for a good alternative. Also I saw an AOSP SMS app with the sliding side bar kind of how hangouts has it now but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Go SMS works well... had tried it earlier...
Sliding messaging
Ninja sms ftw. It is a paid app, but the window is wonderful. Reply without leaving the app youre using is great.

You may try 8SMS
I'm still using the old messaging app, isn't that included in 4.4 rom? (I personally flashed 4.4 over 4.3, so it's still there).

Why doesn't Emoji show on stock keyboard

Happy New Year everyone, quick question hopefully simple but why is it the Emoji show on the stock keyboard except for when you use inside Twitter? It shows on every other app when messaging just not Twitter is this normal that you can't access Emoji on stock keyboard that is on the nexus 6p? [emoji41]

Press and hold enter. You will see it. Its there when the app has an enter button to send the text you enter. Twitter needs the keyboard enter so it puts enter on top.
Got it thanks bro it worked .... Appreciate the fast response...
