Both TWRP ans CWM are good. You could also try Phil`z Touch recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210081&highlight=phil+z. It`s just that TWRP has some more options and it is themable. For me personaly CWM is fine. Just try them out and keep the one you like most.
I never used CWM as I have always used TWRP.
I would recommend TWRP because its easy to understand and theme-able.
i used cwm for a long time. then tried twrp and well, its better. its faster, i seem to have less problems overall and its finally starting to be aware of what im doing, that means flashing is easier because it tries to guess what you will need next, like wipe/cache buttons after flashing instead of making you click through a myriad of hacky options, things like staying in the folder where you picked your last file or install-queues made me switch.

This guy knows what's up.
+1 to that.
TWRP every time for me.
I just find CWM fiddly and over engineered, especially the touch version.
TWRP has nice big buttons for my sausage fingers too. You're a lot less likely to do something wrong by accident in TWRP due to it's "Swipe to activate" function
Is 2.5 the latest twrp version

I use CMW on my S3 and TWRP on my N4.
I have been using CMW for years and I'm very use to it. I don't really like how TWRP looks. Although it looks simple to use because of the large tiles but I still prefer CMW any other day.

CWM is nice and straight forward. It can be a little confusing at first in TWRP how to wipe /data while maintaining /data/media. However, TWRP supports open recovery scripts while CWM uses a proprietary format only supported by its own ROM Manager.
Haven't used either on the N4, but my vote goes to TWRP.
CWM for long time and I like it a lot so never bother myself to change it

I've never had any problems with CWM or TWRP, but I prefer TWRP's interface. Try them both and stick with the one you like?
Twrp is miles ahead of clockwork.
Queue flashing is brilliant

Another vote for TWRP. Queuing up your zips is great. There are also themes for it.

Although I like TWRP better I've had quite a few failed ROM flashes with it. I don't have those same problems with the same files with CWM. This is on three different phones that I currently have.
I prefer to like Cwm than twrp but, I just wanna feel twrp ... How to install twrp? Can it be flashable zip?

You can have the TWRP recovery in 3 ways, 1) flash it via fastboot, 2) install via flashable zip file in your current recovery, 3) use ROM Manager and flash it.
Easiest way to install TWRP is probably through goomanager.
I've installed TWRP on all my devices so far. I like the interface of it more than cwm. Just flash both and check them out, everybody has its own preferences. (like on kernels and roms ... )
go to the TWRP thread and click on the paperclip in the thread name and you will see a bunch of different version of TWRP but may I suggest the latest for N$ 2.6.3.3... When you flash its generally multiple files and TWRP allows for less usage as far as your volume button is concerned.

Hi,
What is the difference between FireFireFire and TWRP? Which one should I install for backups and recovery?
Thanks!
Both. FireFireFire is the way to get to twrp.
FireFireFire is the custom bootloader that allows one click function to get into recovery.
TWRP is the actual recovery. I recommend using CWM Recovery as TWRP has no support from the developers and is still buggy.

Thanks, I wasn't sure which one was the recommended recovery. I know that TeamWin did a great job with TWRP but stopped work on it. Anyway, I just installed smirkis' Gscript with the custom bootloader with new logo along with CWM Touch and it works great.

personally I prefer twrp. It's rather simple to get into, just hold the power button for a second or two when booting. I like the interface as well, it's very basic and I mean that in a good way. It's straightforward as well, easy to use.

not to start a war, but tthat ease of getting in has nothing to do with twrp. that's purely fff bootloader.

am using TWRP with no issues at all
I used TWRP for months and just stayed with it when CWM touch came out. Then it failed to give full backups three times. The restore would get halfway through system, and then revert to TWRP. When I compared size, the failed backup was much smaller. I keep two or three just for repetitive redundancy. So, went to DoomLord's CWM thanks to smirkis and his g-script, now I like it and the interface and program even better than TWRP. YMMV.

Haven't had one single bug with TWRP.
Any chance of anyone porting Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) to the Inc? I'd give it a shot, but my computer is dead. It looks nice, and has great feature set, including better compatability with Goo Manager (think ROM Manager wotj CWM). Here's a handy little guide: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23903-how-to-compile-twrp-from-source/
Edit: Now available from Goo Manager.
Sounds cool but I've actually used it on the Galaxy Nexus and have heard about numerous issues with flashing ROMs on that recovery as it doesn't use the standard method. It uses openrecovery scripts I believe. It does have some awesome features such as zip file queuing and faster and smaller backup support. I've actually switched back to CWM touch for that reason which is standard CWM but has a touch screen interface with gestures.
Sorry Pons, didn't mean to sound negative but it does come with some issues from my experience. There were quite a few issues after the devs of that recovery ported it. I may pass as it may be non-trivial to port.
I of course rather you be negative and honest than positive and not completely honest. I still will probably end up doing it myself (if no one else does before me) when I get a computer so I can experience it myself. Unless of course I'm too (hopefully) busy with my new toy that I'm waiting to be released, the Inc 4g. Thanks for the heads up.
i had one built and booting, but it was very buggy and not usable
TWRP on Dinc
I tried flashing TWRP 2.2.2.2 from the goomanager app, but booting into recovery seems to go straight into a stock recovery. (I don't know if it does that by default since TWRP doesn't work) Does anyone have TWRP working on their Dinc? It would be cool to be able to use goomanager to flash Pon's CM10, rather than going into CWM, wipe, wipe, flash, flash, reboot.

TWRP works on mine. I use it to flash my ROM, then gapps from Goo Manager. I got it from Goo Manager app as well. Try installing it again.
Been using it on CM9 for a few weeks with no problems. Thought I saw somewhere that it may take a couple of reflashes to make it stick.
...sorry...I was on the phone...

I just realized that CWM has a problem on Nexus 7. Can't delete old backups!! You can't delete files in the CWM backup folder thru file explorer, terminal with SU or ADB. For that, and so many other performance reasons, I dropped CWM faster than drunk girl in stilettos. TWRP is what I use on my Galaxy S2 and I just love it. You can queue up several zips for install in order, like: 1) TDJ cache wipe, 2) install ROM, 3) install Gapps, 4) TDJ cache wipe again. then, come back 2 minutes later, and you're ready to reboot. ALso, TWRP has a file manager in recovery, so you can actually delete those annoying backup folders that CWM won't even let you delete. TWRP FTW.
I also notice that TWRP has the nice backup options for "System/Boot/Data" backup only. So I can clean backup my rom without all those apps(which is HUGE)
guess I'll need to put back TWRP in my Nexus 7 again.
TWRP. I tried the latest CWM but even the touch version is not that good for me. Also the De duplication backup of CWM is just not quite right in my opinion. In my experience, leaving thousand files in the sd card is causing performance problems compared to just few large files.

If I flash Clockworkmod Recovery in Rom Manager and then Reboot into Recovery from Rom Manager, I go right to cwm recovery. I have tested making and deleting nandroid backups there and it works just fine. My backups consist of a folder containing 5 files including an md5 checksum so I don't know what people are talking about with 'thousands of files'. I think the people criticizing CWM don't know how to use it. I just make sure I flash Clockworkmod Recovery in Rom Manager before I Reboot into Recovery. Works every time. I don't use the Touch version, just plain old Rom Manager v5.0.2.1 and CWM 6.0.1.0.
I had installed CWM first, but now I changed to TWRP and I like it much more. With an USB-stick connected you have the possibility to backup / restore ROMs from there directly, which makes much more sense than backing up to internal memory. Also the other options provided for install / backup / restore are well done. Really nice work!

TWRP
Big icon easy to use.
CWM, in all honesty, I unlocked and rooted and have never gone back into recovery. Because this is the first device I've ever owned where I didn't feel the need to flash a ROM yet! ( key word,YET) I use my Galaxy S 2 for my flashing addiction.

I used to use CWM for everything, but then on my one xl TWRP worked a lot better. How is it on the N10? Anything missing from either one? Is CWM still the the more common one?

I'm using TWRP on my Nexus 10. I used to use CWM on my S3, but switched to TWRP. Mostly for goomanager support and placing your back ups to an external SD card. Also unlike CWM it's easier to place backups on your computer because there are no "blobs" like CWM.
Not saying CWM is bad, I just prefer TWRP.
I just finished flashing twrp on my galaxy nexus this weekend and reclaimed more than a gig of wasted space, (wtf is blobs?). Now all my devices run twrp as a recovery. Also for the first time since my nexus one I don't have rom manager installed. Twrp/goo is the recovery of choice these days.
Don't forget to donate, it's a small price to pay for what your getting!
I found TWRP better on my Nexus 7 then CWM. I haven't tried CWM on my Nexus 10, but TWRP is working great, and I have no reason to try CWM currently.

Ill flash twrp now
For the Verizon LG G2 which recovery agent is best? I have always used CWM but on this device it made me boot loop and force a hard reset. After restoring the device to stock and spending a few hours I was able to LOKI and TWRP, followed up by GooManager and things work great now! Anyhow I was just wanting to know what others have been experiencing..?

CWM is so yesterday!! TWRP is so much better since it is touch based.
CWM is touch. It also fixes wipe bug and has OTG mount. I use CWM. Don't flash it worth RomManager.... I've used both ADB and flashify to push it successfully. I won't use RomManager after horrible experiences with some other LG phones.

Edit: Agree with Steamer86. Never let ROM Manager download your recovery.
CWM won't flash multiple zips. Only need OTG if newb and screwed up lol
Wipe bug fixed by going into settings and checking rm -fr box.

Can you pint to the link, please.
I had tried a few CWM (verizon), but can't mount my OTG-USB
Thanks.
I heard that wipe fix on TWRP Had problems of its own... I ADB'ed CWM. I only needed CWM for a few mods. I like the stock ROM and prefer it, unlike every other phone I've owned lol. I have never used OTG yet. Nor any wipes for that matter. Seems like a simple choice of multiple zip flash or OTG emergency and legit wipe. I never flash multiples as I don't trust things without testing. OTG in recovery trumps it for me, just incase some random **** happens, though the danger is moderately low for me. Look for the OFFICIAL image with Loki. Post is newer and around. The old loki unofficial does not work with OTG. Does not read NTFS as of yet in recovery. Format native for storage.

ok, where do you see otg mount? I have seen a usb mount which doesn't appear to do anything.
I generally use twrp, but right now I'd take the safety of the otg mount for an emergency over my actual recovery preference
TWRP lots of bills and weasel. not stable.
in my opinion the issues outweigh the features.
i prefer CWM. way more stable.
It's in unofficial along with the wipe fix. Mount > external sd > bam, golden. Faster than TWRP in my tests.
