hi i have a problem while i link device with pc on virtual machine with Windows xp.
i know someone will ask ''why u use virtual machine?'' well on s.o. principal i have Windows 7 ultimate N and i can't install drivers of the device,so i must use vm or format,and for now i don't want format.
anyway untill today at 2p.m. was all right after i don't know what happen but started problems with that error:
''impossible start some essential comunication services.Set up the device,then try to do a connection''
i'm from italy so sorry for my English and the translate of the error.
anyway i tryed do erase the connection with the device,to uninstall and reinstall activesyn(with the reboot in the middle of operations) but nothing.i also tryed to create a new account,but same error.
with another virtual machine,with Windows 8 work good,so i suppose no need a hard reset,i hope.

hi to everyone,
about a year ago, i patched thr spl...now is 2.13.0000. Yesterday i tried to install to my imate jamin (s200) the new qtek s200 italian rom. The process start successfully and cheked the version. When the phone reboot itself and shows the bootscreen, he program said that there was error 260 and cannot continue; on the phone screen reamin the boot section. When i try to rebbot, it works, but in this way i cannot update my phone. How i can solve this??
i use windows vista and windows mobile device center 1.0 version; also, i used on innotek virtual machine, windows xp with activesync 4.5I would like to inform you, if you can help, theat about a month ago i sent my phone to the assistence because the audio didn't work (is it possible that the assistence did something that block the update??

on the bootscreen, compares RUU on the right-up side,ipl 2.13,spl 2.13 and (all writes are in the red section) and usb on the left-bottom side (on white background)! that's all, i think i've said everything...please HELP!!!
THE PROBLEM IS THAT PROPHET CANNOT CONNECT AT USB IN BOOTLOADER
i've tried, also, to use camera + softreset and when reboot the writes RUU disappear, but still not recognize on usb when in bootloader.

use native windows xp and not VMWare or some Virtual Computer!

how you have flash your ipl to 2.13??
i used the pdamobiz...i think my ipl was 2.15.0000, and after downgrade, it becomes 2.13.0000. Sound strange? So, do you think the problem is vista and the VM? but i read in this forum that lots of people flash hos phone using xp on virtual machine....but you mean that in vista if you plug the phone (botloader) in to computer, windows doesn't recognize it?
i havent test "win xp vm" on a "vista host". my work laptop has vista and i cant update any rom/firmware. vmware use the host system and his driver to route the usb device. possible the usb-subsystem in vista is changed to much ;-)
test it ... if work ... ok ... we can debug it!

SOLVED! I flashed the prophet on "real" xp. Now my spl changed to 2.20.000 and ipl remain at 2.13.0000. I have another question: if i flashthe phone with one rom of wm6 (which is better?or which is the rom with less bugs?), can i reflash with a wm5 rom without problem?

I've got a problem. I want to flash my ROM to WM6.5.
I connectet my Phone with Vista over USB-Port.
The ROMUpdateUtility.exe start the GUI.The phone disconnect from Vista and the Install GUI shows me after few seconds the ERROR 260, that my Phone ist not connectet.
On my Phone I see the three coulored Monitor. On the left lower site is written "USB".
I tried to hold the connection with Vista ( i startet the Camera or other Applikation ) but the same problem.
Whenever i start the ROMUpdateUtility.exe the same. Disconnect and never connect again.
What can i do, that my phone stay connectet with Vista, so the Install GUI can make his work?

we tried with and without microSD card and or sim card.
The real problem is the connection which is interrupted and doesn't rebuild.
Independent of trying to flash the WM6.5 or USPL.
Silly question, but you never know..Do you have Windows Mobile Device Center installed in your PC and is your device connected to it? It is the "Activesync for Vista". The three coloured screen is normal, it is called Boatloader. After that you should have a progress bar of what you are updating (rom,radio..uspl..etc) on both PC and Artemis. In my case, when i got error [260] it's always because I forget to remove the SD card. I know you already tried this but keep it away from device when you flash.Your problem is maybe about Vista Drivers for Artemis, there are threads concerning it. Before you investigate further,try to install/reinstall Windows Mobile Device Center, change USB port and flash with a freshly booted PC. Hope you'll get the magic.
P.S. USPL flash is ABSOLUTELY THE FIRST THING TO DO!
Workaround: try to flash with a PC running XP

ok guys so i did a complete restore on my pc and now i need to reinstall ome things and one of the firsts is my startup disk with WMDC and Activesync4.5 i have had this installed and working properly not long ago but now it will not install. I have windows vista and it says activsynce does not wok on vista so i dont know what to do bc wmdc installs but is nowhere to be ound and activesynce wont at all, please help I use my phone as a modem ( im cheap) so i have no internet

Ok, here goes. I thought I had the same problem but all in all wm device center installed and I could sync, but not before searching and searching.
First and foremost, make sure wm device center is installed and updated with windows update.
2. Plug in device and wait for it to say that device software is installing.
3. Click on start button, and right click on computer. Select manage.
4. Up comes computer management.
5. Select device manager
6. Open network adapters and look for Microsoft Windows Mobile remote adapter and right click on it. Select uninstall.
7. Once it is uninstalled unplug your device and plug it back in. Should be noticed and installed and able to sync again.
I am also using windows 7 64 bit with a new TP2. If that does not work, go to this website and it has other possibilities....

Ok, do this. Open task manager and go to Processes tab. Scroll to the bottom and look for wmplayer.exe. It shouldn't be there. Now plug in your device and watch for it to come up. If it pops up and then goes away then let me know and we'll go from there.

It's not a matter of you using it or not. When you plug in and your computer recognizes it, you'll see wmplayer.exe come up and should stay up while being connected. Try one of your good phones and you'll see it pop up and stay. Just make sure you have task manager up and on Processes.
If it pops up and then goes away, there is a work around but is a big pain in the butt.
You could also have a bad phone. I know one of my HTC Advantages went bad and I had to send it in for a new one because it could not be recognized at all. I even went as far as doing a fresh install on the computer hoping maybe that would work. Turns out nothing did.
Let me know if you see the wmplayer come up or not.
I have also read that it could be a .dll issue, but if it won't work on any other computers that are working fine, then I'm going to run with a bad device.

I had to edit because I realized I was wrong with windows seven. I believe you might have a bad phone. Have tried using mtty yet?

mtty checks the usb connection on the device. You disable usb in activesync/windows mobile device center and then plug in your phone. Run mtty and select usb from the drop down. Then there are several codes you can enter to check for usb connectivity. What the codes are I don't know off the top of my head, but you can do a search and it will give you them on the forums. It is actually a pretty small but usefull piece of software.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but have you ran a registry cleaner or defrag program on your windows seven machine? If no then again I'm at a loss and will research this some more since I have time tonight. If so, then that more than likely is the culprit because I have ran different registry defrag/cleaner programs and once done, then windows mobile device does not function properly and I have to restore the registry from the back up that I would make prior to deletion. We'll get it figured out.....I hope.

I'm glad you figured it out and it is strange that the BIOS fixed it, but hay if it worked, great. I know this is a constant issue for wmdc and windows mobile devices, so that is why I tryed to help out. I gave you what I learned from my experiences and searching this forum like crazy. Thank and I might take you up on the PM one day.

For future reference:
I had the same prob with energy photon/WMDC/Windows 7
Untick "ask me 1st about usb conection type" in USB to PC, then soft reset
Prroblem solved!
I have a serious problem i can't update my x2 at all.Because when i connect my phone to pc on normal way i can see my phone and storage card,win mobility working but when i restart phone on update mode and connect to seus,just only animation screen how can i connect and update my phone.
I tryed many ways to solve this problem but i have nothing.Anybody knows why my phone invisible to seus?

problem solved,5th computer with win7 recognized all driver and seus worked,i changed my phone's language russian to english succesifully
to change language it is simple just copy what in cab file(extract first) than paste to windows folder,good luck
