Impressive battery life - One (M7) General

So my battery has gone through 6 charge cycles, and I am now getting really good battery life with medium- heavy usage. Very impressed with the phones battery life. Approx 24 hours standby, 4 hours screen on and 30% percent battery still left today. Watched some YouTube, listened to lotsof songs, whatsapp, emails, browser fb etc

Agreed, I am getting similar good battery life as well.

Same here. I'm actually satisfied with the battery!

Check wakelocks. If music is not taking up an hour or so of wakelock, you can still make it better.

So about 12 hours would be considered average/good?

That... means nothing. 12 hours of screen on time is mind-blowing. 8 hours is some extremely optimized usage. 6-7 hours is about what most people should get. 4-5 hours means you have battery life issues. 4 and less means you have severe battery issues.
5 hours and less of screen on time before 1% means you need to diagnose wakelocks and rogue apps.

Ahh, Ok, I was thinking 5 was high.... Thanks for cleaning that up. I'm on the fence about getting this... Doing my homework now... Any complaints?

Have you rooted your phone and do some special optimizations?
Why my screen only on with 20 mins, and consumes about 4.5% power?

How to address the problem? My screen is set at auto brightness, and power save mode is enabled except display option.

Better Battery Stats. Figure out what is holding partial wakelock. Disable anything involving location settings for Google Search and Google Maps/Latitude. If you have MSM_HSIC_HOST wakelock, you have to root and run a wireshark for a long idle period to determine what is killing battery life.

Not really. I will note that MSM_HSIC_HOST wakelocks are seriously the most annoying things ever to figure out. I'm going nuts trying to reduce it, and fixing the issue requires root because you have to install a root application that can sniff network traffic to determine what's causing modem wakelocks.

Yes, the MSM_HSIC_HOST wakelock exists for about 2 hours, and my battery only use 5 hours since last unplugged.
Is it serious problem? I have not unlock and root my phone, is there any other approach to detect that without root?

I was always under the impression that the only time GPS was using the battery was when you could actively see the GPS logo in your notification bar so unless you were always running apps that would use it you didn't need to turn it off?

Usually get 2 days out of mine with a bit to spare..... i'm not too heavy a user in the week though.
Easily get 24 to 36 hours if i'm using it a lot at week.
Really pleased with it.

from 7am to 6pm my battery is left at about 14%. doesnt seem that great. pretty light usage.
only been cycled twice though, so will wait and see.

Screen time on battery life?

Just wondering how many screen time hours are you guys noticing on your ICS tablets? I'm getting about 8 hrs. Seems it lasted a bit longer on honeycomb and had way better standby time. Maybe I'm just going crazy, could be a possibility also I guess.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Hi there, I am very lucky to get seven hrs, that's reading emails and browsing - was much longer with Honeycomb
With ICS I almost hit 9hrs one time. On the average I get 8+ hours. With HC the average was 7 hours. I may be wrong but I experience noticeably larger battery life. Still the issues with ICS like user agent string of stock browser, app crashes and overall system stability bug me.
just fixed the battery drain issue and now averaging 8 hrs 45 min with very minor drain on sleep mode/standby

Only went thru' 3 battery cycles here, after the initial one i got 9h30 screen on time each time, i don't play games either.
8-9 hours for me. little to no gaming
Could you guys past your screen brightness that you normally user also... That has a lot to do with battery life. I , for instance, have my brightness at about 40% at any given time.
My personal best was 10.5 hours of screen time on a 48 hour battery cycle. No gaming, just web surfing, streaming google music occasionally. This was mostly reading comics on comicwrack.
Edit: lowest brightness possible as I read in the dark.

I've gotten 7-9 hours every time on a mix of auto brightness and manual set around 15%.
Anything higher than 25% is uncomfortable for me unless I'm outside or something.
This is primarily web browsing and such. Videos drain a bit faster and games much much faster.
There's plenty of proof in the various posts about battery life.
I would say about 4h. I'm in a really critical position..
Between 6 and 8 hours here depending on what I do with it. Brightness set to lowest setting mostly, Google Now turned off and WiFi set to off during sleep.
I get from 7-9 hours consistently with wifi off when screen is off and watching shows, browsing xda, Internet, pulse, reddit and occasional gaming for about 10-20 minutes. I once got about 10 hours but that was when mainly reading lecture notes and making my own notes via pen and paper. My brightness is about 15-20 or if it's sunny then around 40%.
Certain apps have a tendency to keep your tablet or even phone awake. You could download 'betterbatterystats' which is on xda somewhere for free and judge what is keeping it up by looking at 'partial wakelocks' or if you are rooted, 'alarms' (what awakes your tablet up when it should be sleeping). Typical culprits for me are Google Now and Maps and for some reason, The Economist app. If you turn off Location Reporting, that can help battery alot, but if you need it on, make sure that the apps which need it aren't unnecessarily waking up your tablet.
No way should you be getting any less than 5-6 really, even if using it at max capacity. I watched around 2 films and a couple of episodes of shows for a max on screen time of about 5-6 hours before and probably still had 30% left.

What does betterbatterystats say?
I have the same problem, but I get around 2:30 screen on. About 6-8 hours usage, I've been trying different ways of charging to see if it will extend life, I might try to use power saver mode next if I can't find a way to get better life.
I have same problem too. This is day 7 for me since I acquired the device. The first day I thought the drain was from the amount of usage during my setting up the device. But now even after a full charge. It will be down to 92% just sitting in my holster in about an hours time. The battery would drain in about 8 to 10 hours.
The only massive usage in the battery status page I see is the screen and I have set that at lowest brightness and then auto. Im using battery saver as well. Im thinking about taking this to AT&T store tomorrow to see about battery or device replacement.
We shall see.

That is definitely abnormally high battery drain. I get less than 1.5% drain / hour when the phone is idle. So your drain seems to be more than 5 times higher!

If you are in a building with pretty thick walls that could drain your battery also due to the phone using more power to acquire a signal. I work in a building that house a lot of servers and notice it uses more battery than when I'm not at work.

This i can agree with, when i visit my parents in the middle of nowhere my battery on any phone every has always died in 3 hours looking for a signal so this might be relevant if you're in a porr signal area.

I'm having this problem too, I don't understand BBS but here's a screenshot of the screen.
I'm tired of this, how can a new and expensive cellphone's battery lasts like 8 hours without even really using it.
My drain was resolved. Android battery stats indicated the screen was draining the battery. BBS indicated my WIFI use was. But neither usage seemed too much.
A visit to the local AT&T store got me a new battery. Albeit some arm twisting occured trying to convince them of the hardware issue.
Yesterday, after overnight charge the previous night, I ended the day with a 72 % battery.
Did a quick charge to 100 percent this morning and my charge dropped 1% in 1 hour. With heavy usage, I sit currently at 72%.
Much better results and happier.

[Q] Battery life.. (android system)

Hi all.
Just a quick question. My battery life is great but i feel like it could be much better. Here are my current stats as i write this.
With this its saying i will get under 4 hours screen on time, i wouldnt say i was a heavy user. I use my phone quite a bit but i wouldnt say it was alot.My biggest problem is with the android system anyone else have it as such a big drain? Somedays its sat up at 40%
Anyone know what i can do to rectify this? Im currently not rooted..
Thanks in advance
Liam
There are just two possibilities.
LG stock rom is so bloated that it sucks most of battery or GRAM feature is so good that screen time is not really problem anymore.
Forgot to mention, my screen time was 2hr 30 so probably looking at not even getting 4 hours screen on time.. Gonna have to guess that it's the stock rom sucking up loads of battery? Would that cause the android system percentage to be so high?
I'm having the same issue here.. Getting 4 hours screen ttime though...

I can easily reach 6 hours screen on time. And I'm a heavy user and by no means try to save battery. multiple social networks, emails syncing etc often streaming music and watch videos and brightness set to a constant 75%. Strangely, for me, when I go over ~2h screen time the Android System drain is taken over by the Screen drain. This being said, I never got over 3h30m of screen time - this is with about 10h WiFi (including overnight => ~2% drain) and about 7h 3G. I have noticed plenty of crap among the kernel wakelocks, but I lack the knowledge to remove them in the source code and rebuild the kernel.
Also, BBS is among the apps that trigger a Qualcomm bug regarding sensor kernel wakelocks (sns_async_ev_wakelock), which, obviously, lead to more battery drain.
All of this is not really acceptable coming from a company like Qualcomm (the sensor bug, in particular, is present ever since the S3 QC version...).
I'll second that Greenify is pretty good at saving battery.
I too have had a screen on time of 6 hours 11 mins over a duration of being off charge for over 14 hours
I'm using StockMOD kernel but the ROM itself is stock as i can't seem to get StockMOD rom to boot.
Also if you Root try TricksterMOD and use multicore savings etc maybe get a bit more life from your battery
Hope battery life gets better for you as it is an awesome phone would be nice for you to enjoy it as much as the rest of us

Standby battery drain issue in HTC U Ultra!

Hi,
I have recently got a new HTC U Ultra from Dubai and found quick battery drain issue in it and I have to charge it twice a day. It only gives max 2 hours screen on time and even battery get drained when the phone is in standby mode. Can anyone help here, please?
Thanks in advance!
Show us battery history and battery usage per app then we could help.
Definitely not normal behavior. See battery history for potential problematic application causing the drain. If nothing can be seen you can try reset of the phone.
Join the club mate, same here brand new ultra here from Dubai.. I don't think it's good to check drain now.. is just the first week. That said try the wake lock detector app

Keep in mind that in the first 5 to 10 days android does many things in background till it sets up everything. I personally start looking at battery life after the first week of usage.

I checked my device and have considerably low standby drain. Didn't measure yet, but when there is enough signal and when in WiFi, the battery holds up properly. I think 3.2 is still a little low, At least of 4 hours I expect.
