I have a Kindle Fire 2 running stock OS v. 10.3.1. I have it rooted with TWRP v. 2.3.3.0, I have the CM 10.1 and the GApps on the SD card. I've read I need to downgrade the bootloader. I've read that to do that, you must flash v. 10.2.4 bootloader, which I also have.. I'm all set (as far as I know), I just have no clue as to how I flash a bootloader. Mind you, I do not have a Fastboot cable.
Thanks.

Hey folks.
So i'm actually a galaxy nexus user and i was showing my lil bro android out.
he loved it and went out and bought a second hand atrix 4g .. it's ATT version.
its running 2.3.6 / 4.5.141.mb860.att.en.us... phone is not rooted i checked with rootchecker and to my knowledge i don't think it is bootloader is unlocke however it is sim unlocked. not sure if this was done via remote code or some other method.
after reading around in the dev and gerneral forum i have a few questions.
how do i unlock the bootloader on this things safely from 2.3.6?
where can i find CWM that is safe to flash on 2.3.6?
is there anything i should be aware of that is different from flashing a gnex?
thanks in advance. just a lil scared to brick this thing as it feels like this device is pretty locked down from reading brick horror story threads.
Honestly, I'm not sure if it would be the same procedure after the latest update, so I'll let someone with better insight answer that one. Rooting should be the first thing that you should do, it is fairly straightforward and you can find the method with ease, as far as the recovery goes, the Atrix is supported by Koush, so you can find CWM Touch to flash through fastboot on the clockworkmod website.
The relative order in which you should do things is:
-Root the phone (optional)
-Unlock the bootloader
-Use fastboot to flash a new recovery (Latest from Koush will work)
-Flash a new ROM.
The horror stories that you read of bricking are people who keep using RSDLite like a toy, when it isn't meant for consumers to use freely. NEVER use RSDLite to downgrade your OS, it's a guaranteed hard brick for all intents and purposes
I would flash Romracers current recovery atrix 5. Flashing some ROMs or gapps will not work with touch recovery. I have never had an issue with Romracers recovery.
CM9 v7
Unlocked SIM,
& Bootloader!
ok so where can i find a safe root method and where can i find rom racers recovery? is rom racers recovery different then cwm?
The only way currently to root a phone on 4.5.141 is to use the fastboot method. The procedure and files can be found here:
http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-root
As for unlocking, I've been told that the old method for 4.5.91 works on 4.5.141. It can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871&highlight=unlock
Romracer's recovery can be found here:

So I know this is a major noob question, but if I want to flash a ROM using hashcode's 3.0 kernel, do I have to download the kernel first and flash it using TWRP in the same way I'd flash a ROM? Also, if I want to update TWRP and FireFireFire, would I flash those the same way? Thanks for any help.
Hash usually publishes both ROM and kernel at the same time. In this case you need to install ROM only. If he only updates the kernel only, then you need to flash the kernel following his update instruction.
As far as the TWRP recovery, just follow the instruction issued with the update for the recovery to flash a new version.
The same story for boot loader FFF.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Tapatalk 2
you can update your bootloader and fff using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935 or just fff this way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632375
So I have heard that it is nearly impossible to do a Bootloader unlock for a razr m with the latest update because they patched the hole that was originally exploited, I am wondering if this is indeed true. If so what recovery options are there since CWM and TWRP both need a unlocked device. I would LIKE to have the recovery program so I could switch between multiple roms, but im also able to just flash whatever rom I want and then flash a stock rom back on if I need it, without a recovery program aren't I?

Yeah, so far you can't unlock the BL if you are the newest update. However, you can run SafeStrap and it will allow you to flash custom ROMs to Slot 1. SS is based off of TWRP, but it's not a true recovery replacement. Your stock recovery will still be intact. You won't be able to flash a true custom recovery on a locked BL. There are a few ROMs that were originally designed for SS. IIRC, Energy, Eclipse V1.2, older builds of CM10, Flying Jelly (was originally designed for SS, but may have been re-designed for unlocked BL), and DeadCalm (also originally designed for SS, but may have been redesigned for unlocked BL) all were made for SS.
How to SafeStrap:

After being unimpressed with 4.4 I am thinking about going back to CM10.1 ,however I have read some reports that users are having issues while downgrading referring to either kernels or bootloaders,is this correct? I have gone to completely stock 4.4 with locked boot loader, are there any steps I should take to ensure it all goes smoothly, last time I used wugfresh's toolkit and will be using it again this time.
UPDATE ! Managed to successfully downgrade to CM10.1 however wugfresh's toolkit could unlock the boot loader but not root and flash recovery, as it would just hang and display "waiting for device" for ever. So had to install recovery via fastboot , even then the version of twrp that the toolkit downloaded wouldn't run so installed a copy of CWM instead. After all this my initial concerns about the kernel / Bootloader didn't cause any issues anyway.
Hi can anyone tell me if xt907 roms will work on my xt905 (australian model) running stock android 4.1.2, system version 98.21.7.XT905.Telstra.en.AU.
I have rooted using Motochopper and have the SuperSU v0.94 installed.
I have also unlocked the bootloader using Motopocalypse which I presume worked. Just a bit stuck on the next stage. I would like to install cm-10.1.3-xt907.zip rom.
But first I need a recovery, can anyone advise? I don't know which one to install or where to get the right file. I dont want to brick my phone!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tim

The latest philz 622+ is best. The 926 link from my general post. The key navi only version is actually better for a noob & YOU WILL BE OVERWHELMED w/ the many options. Cwm style key navigation is impossible to screw up.
...And unified moto_msm8960 ROMs will definitely work for both XT905 and 907. Examples are CM11 and Carbon.

Step 0: Install adb & fastboot
Just in case, since you look a beginner
here to install, assuming you're a PC user
Also, in your stock rom, go into Developer Options in Settings
Turn them on, and enable USB debugging
Step 1:
Check if the bootloader is unlocked
(Please bare with me if yours is different since my 905 was the developer version with bootloader already unlocked)
Power off phone, then hold down vol+/- together, and press power button. This will take you into bootloader.
Go to AP fastboot.
This will take you to the fastboot screen, and will tell you if the phone is LOCKED or UNLOCKED
Stay on fastboot since you will need it for the next step.
Step 2: Flash custom recovery
Download the recovery from here, copy paste it to where you installed ADB/fastboot (default C:/Program Files/Minimal...)
I prefer TWRP (use hdpi) but CWM is good too.
Fire up ADB/fastboot
Code:
fastboot devices
This will show if device is connected
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP*.img
This will flash recovery.
Step 3: reboot into recovery
Code:
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
So from here you can go flash your phone's new ROM. Read here
Bear in mind that the 905 roms have been merged with the 907, 925 and 926 roms (quite) recently. You will find the Roms under moto_msm8960. I do not recommend you flast the 10.1.3 xt907 rom, since it is for US phones. They use CDMA which is not compatible with our GSM. Basically, you will get no signal. CM10.1 is superseded by CM11 anyway.
9 times out of 10 I would recommend CM11 for your first custom ROM, but the battery life hasn't been optimised for 905 my phone (which my partner uses) died after 13 hours of use. You might have better luck.
If not, then feel free to flash any others in the Android Dev section in the forum. I find Carbon Rom to be stellar but I haven't tested it on the 905 yet.

We have GSM patch for that circumstance (although it's not certain whether the Verizon-specific patch would still work on a XT905 - backup and try).

Yep. Didn't mention it because didn't want to confuse the noobie
