Sony should skip 4.2 and update this phone directly to key lime pie. They won't have to play catch up and i believe that customers would be happier with 5.0 than 4.2.

Key Lime Pie is not even released. I don't see any point in this thread.

[Update] Google reportedly selects Android "Key Lime Pie" to follow Jelly Bean
Note worthy article retrieved from Here
"Earlier today we told you that ASUS may be one of the first to offer an upgrade to Jelly Bean, which is rumored to be the codename of the next major version of Android. Now a report has surfaced claiming to have information on the codename of the iteration of Android that'll follow Jelly Bean. Google is known for its pattern of naming new versions of Android after desserts, and according to The Verge's "reliable source," the search company has chosen "Key Lime Pie" as the "K" dessert for the Android update that will come after Jelly Bean. No other details on Key Lime Pie were given.
Like the letter "J," it seems that Google doesn't have a ton of options that it could use for its "K" Android dessert, so the Key Lime Pie moniker could make sense. As for when we may actually see Key Lime Pie introduced by El Goog, well, that could still be a ways out considering that the folks in Mountain View have yet to even make Jelly Bean (or whatever the "J" version of Android will be called) officially official. But hey, at least now we've got plenty of time to hone our baking skills so that we'll be able to prepare a delicious key lime pie on the day that Google finally does debut the "K" iteration of Android.
Via The Verge"
Personally I dont care what are the code names for these android projects, I am just excited about the developments.
For Google to maintain the edge over Apple with their iPhone, they will have to keep the project developments on a continued basis with creativity and being innovative which will not be easy in this game.
Re: (potential) 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS
I just got the Google nexus with the BRAND NEW jelly bean, which makes this post a little silly and indulgent... but when 5.0 does come out, whether it be Key Lime Pie or whatever, we should be in line to get that wouldn't you think?
I was just thinking about it it Idk. What do you guys think? will we? won't you indulge with me?
We will get it

no. nexus devices always get updates last :silly:
just kidding, nexus devices always get updates first. sometimes even before(rooted devices) if its available in aosp.
I'm not going to indulge because 4.1 just launched.
Any N7 owner doesn't care about 5.0 at the moment because it's almost guaranteed on newer Nexus devices including the N7 and no features have been announced.
No information = no excitement. More people will care when we hear something.

hahahaha
4.2 4.2 4.2 4.2! Sorry, that really gets to me. They don't have much reason to name it 5.0.

That'll entirely depend on the changeling, now wouldn't it?

Depends on how big of a change there is from JB to the next os.

I have a feeling it will be 4.2, but it is definitely way too early to really tell anything.

I can't wait to get impatient about Android 6.0 coming out, I hope Android "Mawa Khoya Barfi" will be on the nexus 7 soon, before Christmas hopefully.
Next june?
I'd hold out for LM (Lemon Meringue) instead of KLP (Key Lime Pie)

iphone 5 with ios 6
It will be v5 just because they don't want to get too far adrift in the "my number is bigger than yours" stakes. Unless apple double down on the dumb and try the 'new iphone' route...
My guess, besides more integration with multiple android devices, is an enhanced launcher. Lot's more that could be done, and it gives even more clear blue water between Android and the old fashioned iphone app drawer.
Sort of funny we are already worrying about this, its breaking news these days when some devices are getting ICS!

Same it annoyed me when people were calling JB 5.0. There wasn't that much of a change from ICS.
The version number should only go up if the os is massively different from the previous version. Eg, gingerbread/honeycomb - ice cream sandwich.
Meh, sometimes it's just about grabbing some attention with carefully crafted version numbers. Like when my favorite Linux distro (Slackware) released ver. 13.37
lol at this thread.
Seriously can't begin to imagine what 5.0 would be like. Loving the improvements in JB at the moment.

No harm in wondering lol
Enjoy the present. Millions would love to have JB.
What do you think the next s3 update will be? 4.2? 4.2.1? 5.0?
What new tw features do you think or hope it will bring?
When do you think it will come?
I don't mind if they skip on 4.2.x to concentrate on the next bomb they might drop (4.3/5.0) and as far as new tw features I'd like more social, like windows phone style baking in of Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Google plus, path, viber etc, they could make some deals and take it to the next level.
Saying that, i am more than happy with 4.1.2 with nova 2 prime, phone is sick, fast and smooth!

a 4.2 update would be easy for them, its a small upgrade in terms of what we're use to, So I don't think Google will announce another Android version until Google I/O which is in July I think so being Samsung I believe this 4.2 update will be in August and the 4.3/5.0 released in November lol.
No but really they should release the 4.2 update, they won't skip it.
Somewhere I read that 4.2 will be released... don't remember where, so they won't be skipping it
Im sure next update from android will be 5.0
Hope it's not 4.2 rather 4.2.1 as there been alot of problems with 4.2, which they quickly updated on Nexus smartphones and Tabs.
Tbh i be very surprised if we see 5.0 on the international Galaxy S3 due to it only having 1gb of ram, if 5.0 does come it more likely be for the LTE & Note II as 5.0 is rumored to need 2gb of ram.
The Galaxy S4 & Note III on the otherhand, will 100% get 5.0 update sometime this year

I still believe they will do an update this January (or February at most) with their own fix for the /dev/exynos-mem security hole And if they are able to use 4.2.1 with it then it will be a lot better for us - but I am not holding my breath
i think there'll be a 5.0 and we'll be on it with custom roms when 4.2.1 hits

That "security hole" is already patched up in the new 4.1.2 firmwares. See the recent XXELLA.
Lol guys getting me excited about updates
What would we gain from the 4.2.1 hehe touch wiz extras? Google " says" multiple user log in accounts, that would be useful in those awkward moments when someone wants to separate me from my beloved s3 ... Always worried about my Facebook status or messages to the missus

Will we see Android 5.0 in this fall? What's new with android 5? If Google releases it in this fall, I wonder why they released android 4.3 last week.

Yep, my sources confirmed it will launch on October 25th at 10:25 AM PST - also it adds the ability to run iOS and blackberry apps (believe it or not!)
Also my sources said google released 4.3 last week just to trick the general population into thinking 5.0 is not coming.
:good:
I think Google has it ready but is just trolling us. Everyone was way too excited so they sent out a minor update. Lol

No 5.0 will not come, they will update gradually until about 4.5 or so and it will be Jelly Bean all that way. Then after that it will be 5.0. Since google is moving all their features to apps in playstore they have no need for major updates instead they can keep doing these small.

How generic. Most of us suffer no lag.
-Sent from Marino's One-
I experience more lag when I use my mother's 4S or my girlfriend's 4S.
And my girlfriend got her 4S new (or probably refurb, it was replaced by warranty) at the same time I got my One.
EDIT: Anyway, back on topic. I actually thought the OP was a troll haha. I actually didnt hear about Android 5 at all yet.

How would you know? youve got an iphone
Considering some people are still on 4.1.2 waiting on 4.2.2 and even the Google Edition hasn't received 4.3 yet, I think it's a bit premature to have a thread with wild speculation about an Android iteration that's likely many months away for this device.
