Favorite Audio Mod - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just flashed AC!D audio mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923630) and it makes music sound GREAT I was just wondering what your guys opinion was.

I don't use it. Franco's kernel is enough for me.

Enhancing sound quality in G3

Hi all,
I have been experimenting few things to improve the sound quality for my SG3. This is specially for the people who love music and want extreme effects with headphones.
I was using Kyrillos 9.2 when I realized that using voodoo sound effects does really improve the sound quality for SG3.
Install the following and enjoy the music.

(MOD)Beats Audio Flashable

XDA LINKAGE

Have tested on both devices so thought just in case no one has seen this sweetness
Maybe some Rom will do this along with Sony Cam patch ;-)
Read developers op before you flash and have fun they're 3 different files to flash so read and see which one works for you.
The beats logo won't show nor will you see and equalizer option you will however hear the difference!
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
Is this working on ICS?
Update:
Link for file in OP does mention it working on all versions, including ICS.
I flashed it on ICS and there are no apps or icons but I think its working, music sounds good anyway.
Yes it works on ics and its still beta so no icons or "proof" but I can tell you I can tell a big difference!

Confirmed working on my A500 with ICS Taboo nay 3.0.1 and my Droid 3 with CM9/ICS. Beautiful sound.

Installed on my A500 no problem, had to use the newest zip to get it though. Helped the sound quite a bit.
Quick question...did you install it on your Inspire too? And did it work?

Does this MOD work through the speakers of the a500 or do you need headphones in order to hear the difference? I'm kind of confused aren't beats audio headphones?

No, Beats headphones really have nothing to do with it for the most part. They may be more tailored to it, but overall sound quality should be improved with a good headset.
Nothing can improve the sound quality from the stock speakers
Except an "audio out" port
No luck installing
I downloaded the zip, but it wouldn't flash in CWM so I tried to extract it manually using root explorer. Then I did a reboot and fixed permissions, only to find out that my music player stopped playing almost all of my files (only 2 albums out of my ~1800 songs played) on Google Play Music. I ensured all the files were copied properly, rebooted to recovery and fixed permissions again, this time I got stuck in a boot loop. Ended up re-flashing my ROM and setting up everything again. Pretty sure I did something wrong, but I have no clue what. Judging from some of the responses in the main thread, it doesn't seem like it works anyway... Oh well, I'll stick with Dolby Advanced Audio for now..

No you should be fine with it on maybe Dolby will add more to the sound I'm trying to make a package that will flash stable beats with the Sony Picture enhancer!
But like I said you should be fine!

My R11.5 special edition will have this beats audio mod and the bravia engine patch build in.
Got it running on my tab now for testing.
Just don't know which I should pick , I got the sgs20317 build in now and runs and installs fine.
EDIT
After some more testing I'm not building in the beats audio mod as it breaks musicFX equalizer in play music app.

Yea I think its been discussed in the original thread. Where some users experience broken equalizers on some media players. Have you tried the one not made for the sgs2? Like the test version or stable beta?
I will look and test the newer versions as I never tested them except on my phone awhile back no longer needed it due to my phone has beats included.

Quality of sound on different ROMs

I decided to start this thread just because there is one think that is very important for me. It is music quality. As I noticed, there are some differences in audio quality between ROMs. For example for me CM9 plays much worse than stock ICS (both tested on Poweramp player).
Do you have any suggestions which ROM for Galaxy S2 has the best music quality? Or maybe you have some nice configuration for SGS2 that sounds better than others?
What a pity that Samsung built a Yamaha sound chip in this phone. That one made by Wolfson which is installed in SGS, SGS3 and iPhone's is much better...

I've noticed that the volume on a lot of stock ROMs is low, the quality differs per Rom.
But with a custom ROM like CM9 there are a lot of ways to change it to your likings, e.g. adjusting the music volume. And use mp3's of reasonable quality. Setting high volume on low bitrate mp3's sounds like crap...
So just perform a nandroid backup and try flashing a CM9 or CM10 ROM. Can't hurt to try...

[Q] uc & UV kernel that doesn't break CM DSP manager on Bluetooth

I'm running the latest Xylon nightly.
I use Play Music to stream my music while working out, and I want DSP manager to work so my headphones sound good. Works great with the included kernel. But if I flash Faux kernel (mainline or enhanced, doesn't matter) it breaks DSP manager. The app opens and appears to work, but there is no sound quality change when settings change. Motley kernel does the same thing. I'd like to be able to UV and uc for better battery life of that's possible without losing DSP manager functionality.
Any suggestions)

Better search for similar issues or post your question in the Faux or Motley thread. You will not be the only one with this problem.

[HELP] Fix the Nexus4' ridiculous low AUX volume

Hey guys, so when I purchased my Nexus 4 a year ago, I couldn't find any working way to fix the Nexus low AUX volume.
I would like to know if anything changed in the last year, and if someone managed to tweak it ?
There are several kernels (faux, hellscore,ak,etc) that incorporate faux's audio work that will allow you to tweak volume.

Can use Franco kernel and app too.

im using stock 4.4.3 with hellscore latest karnel, + hellscore karnel menager
and you can change (boost) all volumes. here is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/kernel-mod-hells-doctor-r8-t-r-d-s-mod-t2548872
and you can dl hellscore karnel menager here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.themike10452.hellscorekernelmanager
Im using nameless rom 4.4.3 with ak poseidon kernel for cm with synapse [kernel manager also] to change the all volumes heights and the audio, and i am using viper4android fx to get fully hq music experience. But i dont know or aux will also work with that.

I am using Nexus 5 Experience ROM AOSP Version which comes with beats mod, along with Dolby sound mod found on this category and also Universal sound mod and faux kennel, everything awesome, great sound.
So on top of the ROM I ran universal sound and then the dolby mod at the end...
Here are the links:
Beats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44306194
Universal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50035056
Dolby: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51222503
Also for some reason I can never get the Beats sound app to work, I mean, it does not work to change the sound levels, so I use an old dsp manager app that I pulled from an electrify ROM I used previously, it works great, like it better than other volume adjustment apps, maybe I can share it too.
